  • This video shows the best way to remove water spots from a mounted SCT corrector plate when water spots cover most or all of the surface.
    Our First Contact Polymers are easy to use to remove water spots when both the polymer and pretreatment can be sprayed on the surface, but spraying the polymer and pretreatment on a mounted corrector plate is not recommended due to the amount of preparation required to keep overspray from settling on, or flowing under the retaining ring or secondary mount.
    As always, if you have questions about this process or any other First Contact Polymer cleaning process please email us at sales@PhotonicCleaning.com.

    I wonder why nobody is talking about this product? Looks awesome. Might be the pricing.

      Hello! Thank you for watching our video. Yes we understand our First Contact Polymers are not inexpensive, however considerable engineering and processing is necessary to produce our First Contact Polymers. The polymers were designed to clean precision optics such as LIGO (and now a-LIGO) test masses to the molecular level and leave no contamination or residue. Many years ago some intrepid citizen scientists (amateur astronomers) discovered our products and used them to clean their mirrors, corrector plates, etc. and so we began helping these customers by creating videos and other helpful information. We now have thousands of citizen scientist customers all over the world! We do offer discounts in conjunction with the exhibitions we attend and if you desire, we can add you to our database to receive such discount notification emails. If you would like to receive the discounts please email us at Sales@PhotonicCleaning.com and we can immediately offer a 15% discount. We look forward to hearing from you.

      Will this polymer remove oil, smudges,particules from the correcter plate. I have a 6inch sc, would the first deluxe kit be enough to clean it, and what about the o-ring is it needed..Thanks...Phil

      @@phillipgant3436 yes, the polymer will remove oil, smudges and particules. You should remove big "gobs" or drops of oil as it would require multiple polymer cleanings to remove these, but oil residue is easly removed. Our RFCRAI, Red First Contact Regular All-Inclusive kit contains all items you need to clean your 6" SCT at least 3 times. An oring is not required if you have a steady hand and can apply the polymer to approximately 1/4 to 1/8" from the retaining ring and secondary mount. If you do not trust your hand steadiness then perhaps err on the side of caution and order orings for the inside of the retaining ring and the outside of the secondary mount. If you have other questions please feel free to email us at Sales@PhotonicCleaning.com. We're happy to help!

    Can this process be used on mirrors too?

    • @firstcontactpolymers
      @firstcontactpolymers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! We plan to create a video cleaning a SCT / CDK style mirror using this technique but do not have access to a candidate mirror as yet, however the process shown in this video can be directly applied to any mirror or other optic. If you have any other questions please feel free to email us at Sales@PhotonicCleaning.com and we will provide additional information.
