    I think that the Astra deserves a good service (oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter), a change of spark plugs and probably some new belts. For the oil spill... Check the rocker cover gasket and the oil pressure switch, both inexpensive items but they could fail

    As someone else has said, looks like the rocker cover gasket has gone a bit spectacularly all of a sudden. Oil run down on to hot manifold and voila, so may still be a cheap DIY fix.

    I had same problem on Astra 1.6 8v engine! Fixed by replacing EGR valve with “blanking plate”, then hung redundant valve off side of engine with stiff wire so it remained “electrically” connected to stop check engine light appearing on dashboard!! Still passed MOT’s. EGR is common design fault on these! (Blanking plates available on Ebay)

    Twist your oil filler cap more. It’s not in the correct position
