It heads up the hills great in Canada. Im pretty sure by now you have ridden one. Much better than the powerfly with its rattling battery and lurchy power delivery. Love my new marlin+
We need more entry level electric bikes to compete with other brands
👍👍👍
I just ordered one yesterday 😅
Awesome news!
Not a fan, but I can certainly see it selling for the older crowd who just want to get out of the house and maybe down a very light trail or two. Would have liked to see a better set of components even on the base model for the price, but that’s Trek for you. Still not absolutely terrible for the right demographic though.
The marlin is their cheapest mountain bike, so why would you expect better components?
@@Lee-ic2yn Because this is too low. It should have the Shimano Deore 5100 10/11 Speed Groupset just like the non electric one. But I’ve just read that they’re discontinuing the Deore line in place of this new CUES, but I’m not sure what CUES groupset this has. But they’ve also switched the Rock Shox for the SR Suntour too.
The CUES system is compatible with the LinkGlide cassette, which is eBike specific. So this is actually a better combination than the Deore 10 speed for this bike. I agree with you entirely with the SR Suntour coil fork, too many bikes are spec'd with it at this price point.
Unless they are deleting the powerfly line of bikes, I don’t see the need for this bike.
This is a lower powered model. The Active Line is a much weaker 50nm motor than the Performance Line CX which has 85nm. It also has a low spec 9 speed Cues groupset compared to the Deore 10 speed in the Powerfly. Seems to fit in quite well IMO, but it’s quite expensive for a low powered base model Trek with coil shocks.
As @azzajaybrah rightly says, this bike is designed to slot in underneath the Powerfly. A slightly lighter weight, lower powered and lower priced alternative. Thanks for watching. Jason
@azzajaybrah I completely agree with you regarding the coil forks. This is a bug bear of mine with most manufacturers. For the relatively small extra cost entailed, an air fork would make a massive difference to the ride and would improve the bike massively. Thanks for watching and commenting. Jason
New low for trek .. these garbage specs are on the next level.
The bike undoubtedly compromises in some areas, but nearly every manufacturer does, but overall it will be a bike to suit certain rider needs. An air fork on the +6 would have improved things significantly. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Jason
Lol....pay just a little more and get a phenomenal dual suspension bike using far superior parts from other companies.
Any specific bikes you could recommend? I’m looking for my first emtb.
it's a hardtail so pointless.
Thanks for watching and for your comment. I appreciate a hardtail might not suit your riding, but there are plenty of people out there who don't need what a full-sus offers so a hardtail fits the bill. Anything that gets people off the sofa and out riding is a winner with me.
Why cant I can't get the one with the bend in the top bar. Not sure why this frame is like this?
