Though Richard Branson started Virgin Records in 1972, it wasn’t until Cutting Crew released their album Broadcast that the record label broke through in the US.

Cutting Crew lead singer Nick Van Eede apparently wrote the lyrics to “I Just Died In Your Arms” within an hour and 3 days later he had recorded the demo.
The song would give Virgin their first number one hit in the US and has been used by various artists including Jay-Z who did a remake of the song.

When you've heard song sung for 35 years a particular way and then someone comes along and breathes fresh life into it. Outstanding👍
Gorgeous, sexy and elegant. I love the hint of rasp in her voice, the power, and how she stays true to the song's original melody (and without using any runs or riffs, thank God. I think they're used WAY too often in contemporary singing).

Thanks for this one, Kayla and Ken. This is one of my favorite 80s power ballads and it was introduced to me by one of my sisters who was the big music fan in our family because it was one of her favorite power ballads when it came out. I always think of her whenever I hear this song. I've never been able to ever picture a woman singing this song, so of course Kayla had to come along and slay both the song and my feeble imagination. Great take on it and honestly IMHO the song takes on a completely different and interesting meaning coming from a woman.
Why is this lady not winning one of those talent shows that are so popular?
Some people are just above being in a talent contest; She is definitely in good hands.
