How to install Futaba T8J on a DJI Phantom (part 2)

- This is how to set up the Futaba Radio, these are my personal settings and as you can see from the previous video everything works great! GPS/ATTI/Manual and FailSafe ect ect..
I am sorry this took 2 days to put out BUT I wanted thorough testing to make sure it would work 100%, I also then decided to add the FailSafe to a switch to avoid people wanting to turn off the TX to test it. its safer on a switch as you can regain control quicker/safer should you need to (this is done but turning failsafe off "Switch "D" and then switching between GPS/ATTI a few times, REMEMBER TO HAVE THE TROTTLE AT 50% OR MORE THO) OR just let it land.

Very nicely done, and very useful. I'm new to this, and many of these settings are still a bit unclear. I just purchased a T8J yesterday, and plan to make the conversion as soon as it arrives. I especially like the way you edited the instructions for fast comprehension (video overlays, speed ups, etc). Most other videos seem to be 'stream of consciousness' and you are always thinking 'get on with it' ... not yours. Thumbs up!

yes, make sure you are in GPS mode, put the throttle to 50% then toggle the HL/CL switch a few times, then you should have control.

Cheers for the video! Is there any way I can set one of the switches to go into FPV mode then back to gimbal?
turn on youre radio and have it close (within 30cm) of the RX power up the RX while holding down the very small button that is on it (situated near the antenna cables) the led should turn green when its done. power it off and on to check the bind has worked.
Thanks. I tried the 3.00 and I thought it was too sharp on takeoff. I've just installed 3.1 and re calibrated and will do a test fly tomorrow.

Hi, you refer to personal preference in settings, but what to do, if you wan the same settings/mixes as the stock radio, are there any recipe for that?

i assuming wrong trims will case crash !
I watched all your vids on doing this mod, great job! Gave me the confidence to do this myself, so I have a t8j on the way. Have you really tested the fail safe in a real world flying experience using this? Also, if it goes into fail safe, or you flick it into fail safe, will unflinching it if it is flying back to you allow you to regain control? I am too scared to try fail safe on my stock transmitter by cutting it off. Thanks again, you have great videos

I think I have the answer. The one in the video is a helicopter version, changed to the airplane controls. I have the airplane version which has the upper 3 position switch on 'G' and not 'E'. More than likely I can simply change any reference on the transmitter from SWE to SWG and have verified it with the Assist software. I'm setting up for a F-450 but these setting should work for that platform too I believe.

whats the diffrence between the futaba t8j and the futaba 8j?
HI, on part 2 of your phantom to t8j conversion,, you say to go down to position 6 on the pmixx, yet you adjust position 5 and 4. am i correct to say that 6 stays at inh and 5 and 4 pos are changed or have i got it wrong? thx, Ian.
How u bind?
sounds like either:.you have not bound your TX to the RX or if you are running naza version 3.12 the IMU is still warming up (this can take a few mins and is normal)

Hi,I own a F550 with Zenmuse H3 3D. Can you help me to make the tilt (G switch) in a much slower motion, low very fast and I dont know how to do it smoother in my T8J. Thanks, you do greats vidéos.

Just bought an 8j however my upper left switch which you say is a 3 position switch is a 2 position called E. My two three position switches are C same as yours but the other is G on the upper right. So this setup won't work for me verbatim?

Did you have to install the receiver. I thought the v2 were futaba compatible.

I know I just emailed you a load of questions on part 3 of this tutorial (great video BTW) but I just saw this video and wanted to ask another: In setting up Switch D as your fail safe did you lose the use of the VR knob, OR does this not apply where the Phantom is concerned. Again I have F450 with a Naza M which, according to the manual can't use channel 8. Many thanks again mate
This is a great tutorial, but at the end of part one, you kind of skipped over the bit about "Bind your TX to RX" - is it easy to do? how do you do it? regards HMD
Please, do you have a 'print' copy of the parameters for the T8J and DJI phantom - it is a bit difficult to see exactly what's happening in the video.

I've sorted it now. After trying every combination possible. My curves were different though.
On the rx the is a little switch (sw) turn your radio on and press the sw switch for 2 sec the led will turn green
