This is a good game to use as an example of how to make a particular console's audio chip really sing if the programmer knows their shit. People still argue over the sound quality between the Genesis and SNES and the fact of the matter is, there is both amazing AND shitty music on BOTH consoles. It all depends on the programmer in question and their level of skill and familiarity with the hardware.

i remember hearing the snes sound track for first time and thoughht megadrive could never match this but they got damn close .. this is has close has i could have dreamed it would get .. welldone to the composers
Always thought the last one was a weird thing to have...it would make sense in an arcade since the power would be on all day (high score lists reset when the power is turned off) but why would a console have a high score list since after you beat the game you would turn the console off?
The SNES instruments are better and the MD has more complexity. So they sort of level each-other out with music. One of the main reasons the SNES version is considered better is because of the extra level. The graphics fit better on the SNES with it's brighter feel and tone, it represents the artstyle better that the murky dark colours of the MD. This IS just MY personal opinion, but the SNES version is better than the MD version if you count up the pros. Of course, the SNES version has some cons, but they are mostly found on the MD version too. (Also, for those of you that don't know, the Genesis was called the Mega Drive in the UK, so that is why I put MD.)
Probably unpopular and biased opinion but I’ve played both and prefer Hyperstone Heist. The sound alone, is far and away better than the SNES version. The SNES version is still good and has a sort of feel that if you grew up with it, you’d definitely feel was definitive but man, the genesis version is so much crisper and clearer in its sound. The SNES soundtrack almost sounds muffled, like it’s being played through a pillow. And the Genesis exclusive tracks like Inside Shredder’s Hideout @13:03 completely nail the vibe. I find the sprites on Turtles In Time kinda washed out and less defined than in HH. There’s not enough contrast between the character and the background. And while TIT has more levels, I find the ones exclusive to that game were mostly just reaches to put the player in oddball settings that otherwise wouldn’t be usable in a story without time travel. It’s a nitpick to be sure, but I just didn’t really feel like I missed out on much playing HH as the fighting in HH was very fast-paced and tight (dash moves were excellent). I’m not meaning to dog TIT because it’s an amazing game, I just think it’s supposed “clear superiority” is very much debatable and often colored by which you played first. Full disclosure though, I played HH before TIT (though I played the arcade game which was amazing before either).
No online subscriptions
No DLC
No pre-alpha demos being sold as "early access"
No season passes
Just your Genesis and your Turtles.
All about trial and error for that era.
Man this game is underrated. I think both this and Turtles in time kick ass. :)
makes me wonder why plarinum studios failed with latest game
this game was underrated but TMNT the Manhattan Project have better soundtracks
Mohammed Budi
Whaaaaaaat? No just no. This is the best TNMT 8bit/16bit era OST
This is a top 3 for me. Tmnt arcade, tmnt iv and this one.
This game is > tmnt IV simlky because of the dash button. It makes me so much more playable.
16:18 I love Star Base, my favorite! Hey! Hey! Hey!!1
Konami most badass soundtracks in 90s, composers at that time made music original.
Insanely talented composers sheesh!!

So true but i still favor the good Mega Drive music over the good SNES OSTs^^
Amen brother!
Naw genesis > snes for sure
While this is good, synth just sounds so anemic to me. SNES > Genesis on this.
Thunderforce!
one of the best soundtrack
Rocking that YM chip!!!
I play this game until today sometimes, since I was 4-5 years old. Now, I'm 29. I love this game.
grad1u53, you've made my absolute favorite channel on TH-cam.

VERY GOOD TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES THE HYPERSTONE HEIST SEGA GENESIS !!!
Owned both this (Genesis) and Turtles In Times (SNES). Both great. Still play both on my emulators. But here you go: 3:35 and 16:18
Rick Nobers, 3:35 Snes wins but 16:18 Sega genesis wins
Mohammed Budi May agree with that
Concuerdo contigo XD
That Konami vibe.
I feel like they chose that sound for most of their genesis games as a signature.
Черепахи, Мегадрайв, детство! 😏🤟🔥
Memories :)))
Storming soundtrack, and WAY superior to the Super Fami version.
you gotta give the sound team credit, they did a lot with what they had, which wasn't much.
That's why it sounds so great because it was a challenge for them.
20:43 OMFG
I like In Shredders Base the best!
Turtles in a half shell turtle power
It's HEROES in a half-shell...
21:54 this is so fucking good boi :D

Here in Germany it was called Mega Drive too. I think only the US used the name Genesis in the rest of the world its called Mega Drive.
Why is the US doing that? Well Genesis does what Nintendont sounds better^^
They are 2 completely different games.
