For whoever needs to know some context: the music and the dancers are performing the traditional 'tarantella' typical folkloristic dance of puglia and lecce, which originated many decades ago and talks about women being bitten by a spider, the tarantula, who starts dancing frenetically to shake the venom out of her body. that's why the dancers look to be distressed and move their feet in that way. Another similar dance they're dancing is 'pizzica' a dance that represents the love and passion of the couple, who dances in a very intense way but never touching each other.
Now this is what I call a show! Maria Grazia is so underrated. Artistic, emotional and original. RTW fashion shows are never designed to show detail, but to get across the mood and inspiration behind the collection, which I think she did brilliantly and powerfully. Smart people know the runway or backstage stills are where you go for details. The clothes are so beautiful and wearable. Her ready to wear is so much better than Galliano’s, but no designer living or dead can ever beat Galliano’s sheer creative genius which only Dior Haute Couture could truly unleash to its full extent.
I am sorry and disappointed to read all of these negative comments. This is a fashion show, that reaches world scale, and ultimately those with an open and wordly mind will understand it. This was perfectly choreographed to seamlessly showcase the fashion, and tell the story of the setting, which is; Puglia, its traditions (through the lighting), its music, its dance. This dance is rooted in hundreds of years of history and tells a story of the people, melancholy, joy, love, passion and the earth - all realities of which they lived. It is dramatic by nature, so to say it takes away from the fashion, is an ignorant comment. The fashion interwines perfectly, pay attention. Thank you Maria Grazia, for your art, passion and creativity. You are at the very top for good reason. Congratulations on the show, it was simply phenomenal!
Because of the lights the magnificent piazza and the Dome could not be seen - show could have taken place in a parking lot. Camera people and especially the control room did a pretty lousy job. Could have been a game changer for the fashion industry but in my view they missed the opportunity.
@@copacel You miss the point; the lights ADDED to the magnificent piazza, which added another layter to its opulence and beauty when the camera moved upwards to the sky. Maria Grazia has exposed the artisan secrets of the Salento and this is a fanastic move for the fashion world, and for Puglia's local economy.

love this! i'm so tired of fashion runways with crowds of people sticking their iphones in front of the show. This is refreshing, emotional, elegant, sexy. The clothes are beautiful, the dancers and music moving, the setting stunning . . . love everything about this. Makes me want to go out a buy a Dior dress! thank you
yes. to me it invites more inside of avenues of inspiration- be it the spirit, movement, sound , combination of many of these elements etc and while it can “steal” the attention of the viewer that is the beauty of the mode of delivery The video allows for the playback therefore the consumption of of much more content from the creators and performers. I love it! I might be over stimulated unable to grasp some superficial ideas and feeling it was to hidden among much in person.
What a beautiful statement, by using fashion, music, culture and reality. Putting it all together cohesively is an art form all by itself, and then adding a heartfelt story behind it..
This is just a whole new era in fashion shows. Dior has reinvented everything! So inspiring, magnificent, magical and fairytale vibe. Feels like dancing in the rain again!
LOVED IT! it was a pleasure for the eyes, the ears, the soul, the mind. It represents the essential. Amazing. My fav part was the final part, where all the model are standing. More than art and fashion now...a reflection of civilization’s need to restore balance to home and heritage. A beautiful show and will be interesting to see how these looks, rich but modest, will translate across the world.
but uh....how did you see any of the clothes? i didn't. all i saw was dancers with models walking by very fast that the camera people didnt focus on at all. im going to look for the clothing in picture format so i can make an actual decision on the collection
Please do not even try to intellectualize a fashion show beyond what it really shows, you sound just like a modern art exhibition attendee who is trying to define the meaning and the depth of a daub painting... It is just clothes, ladies walking and dancers jumping all over the place.
Amazing show. Every piece and every moment was art. Dior has really captured the spirit of the new era we are entering. And there is no more natural place than Italy to perform this.
yeah im going to have to go look at the collection some where not on video. then i'll be able to come comment on the actual collection. dior hasn't been doing so well this year so i am hoping this is a good collection

It's beautiful to see such a lovely scenery after so much suffering in Italy due to pandemic. The collection is lovely and Maria was really inspired, like Karl in good all days. I do agree that Dior's DNA is a bit lost and I recognize more Maria's design preferences that I personally love. I like that she chose Puglia, the birth place of her father, to showcase the collection and that she invited Negramaro.
OMG WHERE DO I START, Maria Grazia Churi is a phenomenal genius, the linguistic language of home, heritage is something we all can relate to especially doing these times, when we are all stuck in our home. The collection was poetic alongside the incredible dancers who were the esprit of the show. The music was just perfection and truly gave us the essence of Puglia. A groundbreaking performance where fashion becomes simply the expression of culture. Coming from a house like Dior it’s brave and I think it opens a new way as in how to perceive fashion. Not anymore as commercial luxury but as an expression of creativity, beauty and a celebration of life. Very inspiring to see the end of the traditional catwalk in exchange for an artistic and emotional performance of human beings in a soul-lifting art performance.

What a beautiful plaza! And the kaleidoscope of fashion of an “era” that was stronger than ours seems to be meshing with the theatre of villagers life! What a nod to the brave women and NURSES of wars gone by...it makes me cry with emotion. So refreshing to look back yet find ourselves moving forward. Thank you MG. I didn’t really notice the collection until the final display...very nice, actually- much of it very attractive and wearable. The dancers and music however, were the real stars of this show

I wasn’t confused of anything! I looved to watch it. The dancers were amazing! They did really hard and good job 👏🏻 i also watched the clothes to. Everything was amazing. A specially that theres no people in there . I field like it was only for me the whole this show 😁

The only thing that annoyed me was that the camera kept missing models and decided to show the dancers more. I love culture but I came here for the clothing first.
Creative, intense and the whole thing glued me to the screen. Loved the music and collection is also very impressive. Set is very different and nice. I liked the quote "We Rise by Lifting others"
I will watch this quite a number of times both for the fashions and just wonderful wonderful singers, dancers, percussionists and orchestra. They are so unique, appear to be very traditional from my uneducated eyes and ears. The clothes aren't the most clear, although there are the regular close ups. I can go online to the photographs of the collection to get a closer look. The set design is beautifully done. I love how the dancers interact but don't take over the fashion parade. Thank you for an amazing collaboration and lifting my spirits xoxo.

What a beautiful plaza! And the kaleidoscope of fashion of an “era” that was stronger than ours seems to be meshing with the theatre of villagers life! What a nod to the brave women and NURSES of wars gone by...it makes me cry with emotion. So refreshing to look back yet find ourselves moving forward. Thank you MG. The dancers/singers/musicians are phenomenal!

I didn’t really notice the collection until the final display...very nice, actually- much of it very attractive and wearable. The dancers and music however, were the real stars of this show

The music and the dance style are named PIZZICA, which is a traditional style from this region of Italy (Salento, Lecce town) ...the heel of Italy!!!

Creative, intense and the whole thing glued me to the screen. Loved the music and collection is also very impressive. Set is very different and nice. I liked the quote "We Rise by Lifting others"

I will watch this quite a number of times both for the fashions and just wonderful wonderful singers, dancers, percussionists and orchestra. They are so unique, appear to be very traditional from my uneducated eyes and ears. The clothes aren't the most clear, although there are the regular close ups. I can go online to the photographs of the collection to get a closer look. The set design is beautifully done. I love how the dancers interact but don't take over the fashion parade. Thank you for an amazing collaboration and lifting my spirits xoxo.
