Thank you for this. There arent many videos out here like this. Please continue to make great videos like this so the patients can better understand how their results are calculated.
This video forgets to show the struggle of the pathologist which can encompass days of looking through a microscope at these sections and the ancillary stains to figure out the actual diagnosis...but covered the histology aspect really well 👍
Right ? Is it Oncocytoma or chromophobe RCC ??? I'll order more stains... PAX8, CK7, CD10, EMA, Vimentin, CD117, Hale's colloidal iron... And off we go
I had to have one of those today. I found a lump in my knee after falling over a year and a bit ago. I thought it was just a hard bruise so I left it and forgot about it, then it began to hurt and become bigger but the doctors after a ultrasound scan and an MRI don’t know what it is. so I got a ultrasound biopsy today and, because the lump and my skin were so tough to get the needle in the first time, the doctor had to put a lot of local anaesthetic into my knee, I had that around 10:50am it’s now 10:02pm part of my knee is still numb...
Gloves are not necessary because the tissue is no longer infectious. Forceps are highly recommended though but often not used because of the way the technologists learn to section.
Does anybody know the procedure for processing colon polyp biopsies. Are they put in formalin and made into paraffin sections? Are they frozen? ...and, how long do results generally take?? Intellectual Curiosity.
If something's wrong, it could be the actual interpretation of the biopsy, or sampling error, etc. etc. Pathologist litterally go through a decade of training. They are viewed as the doctor's doctor. Answering questions that clinician doctor struggle to resolve.
