I previously asked you guys why you didn't do Om606 engine swaps. You said they don't have enough torque for a 4x4 and was never used in a 4x4. Mercedes used the Om606 in their G-Class for a couple of years. I reckon the G-Class is as good of a offroader as the Range Rover where the BMW M57 was used, don't you think? The best part of the Om606 was it was available with a mechanical pump, no electronics to go wrong.
Thanks for providing that information but we won’t be installing one after our own personal experience they are not suited. Im also yet to see one produce matching low down torque as we see from the m57 330d.
Thank you for responding, can you please share with me more about your personal experience on why it isn't suited? Is it just about the low down torque? I can't comment on on at what rpms it makes its peak torque. You do petrol V8 swaps too right? Does the petrol V8 produce better torque than the Om606? Sorry for all the questions, I am looking for a mechanical diesel engine for my defender and unfortunately the M57 doesn't tick that box and the 300tdi is a bit underpowered.

Fantastic video again! What do you guys think about the 2.8TGV engine? It was almost like the 300tdi just a 300cc bigger and bit more powerful.
