Hey there, lore andy here again! Congratz on your finish! You were almost spot on with your assumption, the old monkey is supposedly a Celestial God, so basically evil in Wukongs context. He wants the Wukong’s successor to wear the band again and continue being subjugated to the Celestial Court. You achieved the true ending, the Court is under the impression that his mind was lost, but in secret Erlang held to Wukongs memories and was tormented by them and Wukongs mind in general. Until you freed that burden. Noone was onto that plot other than Wukong and Erlang, the first tutorial fight was all for show. In the ending, right before the band is being put on the Destined One, memories rush through and Wukong wakes up. The next beautiful animation is The Journey To The West, but in reverse. Starting at the end, when Wukong became the Victorious Fighting Buddha all the way to his rebellion of the Court. When you asked why he doesn’t have the headband at the end, it was because he didn’t. He had it After he was sealed by Buddha (the five finger mountain in the animation). It was basically an artifact put on him to obey during the journey, that little segment of him fighting with clones was before that. Animators actually paid crazy attention in detail. All the weapons when he drank alone, was his fallen comrades. The scene speaks volumes because in spite of all of his homies being gone, he chose to go anyway, unrelenting, indomitable spirit. Strong symbolism of how much he valued freedom. The other ending, the bad one, old monkey would indeed put the band back on your head and repeat the cycle, until another Destined One embarks on the journey again and makes different choices. Glad you enjoyed this game, this whole thing is absolutely priceless for people who grew up with Wukongs story and I can’t properly articulate how many people will be moved by this. Especially the song during this last animation, is a remake of the original 1986 Journey To The West theme song and brings an intense sense of nostalgia. Any kid in the East remembers watching that show with their grandparents as a child, so me among others, were extremely moved by the remake with authentic symphonies from childhood. Hope my rant gave some additional info!
That is not certain at all. The Old Monkey could be Guanyin (who plays a major role in Xi You Ji) or even Wukong himself in an enlightened form among other possibilities. There's no true knowledge about the Old Monkey's identity or his true motivations as the full story was never finished for the game (lot's of players in China are still speculating) and more content is probably going to finish their vision.
@@pvpandaaa Oh yeah if you read the novel there are a lot of possibilities about who the Old Monkey could be as the game's story does something that is very common given how popular the novel is when it comes to deconstructing the narrative today. They could in fact be setting up some kind of higher conflict between eastern and western heaven using whatever the Old Monkey is hoping to gain from training the Destined One as an allusion to that premise. And that's just one out of other possibilities. It's obvious the Old Monkey has his own reasons for helping continue the cycle that are more than likely personal we still don't have certainty of yet and the endings show him hesitant about placing the band on the Destined One's head. If his ultimate goal is to help Sun Wukong as he's said, then it only makes sense that he wouldn't just let the Destined One go free without fully acquiring Wukong's memories to complete his mind, which was hidden for safekeeping by Erlang. You can't cook a medium-rare steak and serve it well-done. We'll see in the future though.
ErLang keep WoKong's legacy in his eye and hide in that snow temple for 400 years just to pass it to the destine one, I definitely want a friend like him , he is on fire bro.
Great playthrough, I really enjoyed your play. The last anime video is the reverse order of Journey to the West. The only difference is the very last when Wu Kong encourages his brothers to crash the Celestial Palace. This happened in the early stage of the novel and his brother were all alive. But in the video, their cheering arms and cups are in the shadow, only Wu Kong's is real. Even without those help, Wu Kong will still get up and fight. Also, I find the English dub and sub are pretty good. Another thing I want to mention is that you can zoom in and examine mural at the end of each chapter. Some interesting points provide background stories. Bravo!
@@zhihuang9049 hey I appreciate that! I didn’t know I could zoom in…that’s going to make me replay the game again😂much love to you for sticking to the end of the series brother❤️🤝🏾
