I love this format. It's a nice alternative to not being able to be there in person. There's just so much visual information you can detect when you sit and take a look back at the footage.
Agreed, it’s a brilliant format and they are pros at narrating the footage!
Although they are both the most hated man in the chinese speaking world 🤣
I like them pointing out specific details that we'd normally never notice. Makes it very interesting to get insight on regular people in that country and region.
I wonder if anyone does this for American Ghettos. As someone who has lived in a few major American Cities and likes driving around, it would be nice to have that experience without the vague danger and traffick stop concerns.
@@TyPhenirW0LF WOLF I believe there is 2 TH-camrs who tour the worst parts of cities or even more rural areas. One is a black guy who drives a pickup. He tours during the day because its safe for him, but not for a white person. The other TH-camr does the really bad areas at night. I prefer the black guy's videos. He points out details and doesn't pull punches with his commentaries.

I really think you should co-write a book about your experience in China. I was reading River Town written by Peter Hessler, it's fascinating. The book talks about his experience as a college teacher in West China in the 90s. A lot has changed since then, and surely the stories in your road trips in China will be fun to read. If you write such a book, I would buy it.
I have lived in a Chinese village for over a few months when my wife and I were trying to get a place in a larger city. The people are just amazingly wonderful and friendly. Very real and sincere. But stimulation-wise, I was going out of my mind by the time we found a place.
Sounds nice....
I really like these kinds of videos showing the culture of China that us in America never see. That is how I started watching Winston's videos of just grocery shopping and showing the daily life and common things that we never think about. It gives us a peek into the life of a Chinese person and allows me to connect on a common level that I wouldn't have otherwise. I think the first video I saw was the gutter oil one when it was new and I was hooked. Plus the air rifles from Russia are awesome. I bought one at a gun shop in TX. It was an old wood stock Russian air rifle that was probably better than my 22 long rifle.

Back in my younger days, I went to a "theme park" in mainland China.
It had an airgun field, I was really into it back then and I thought it would be a people vs people/shooting the target signs for reward type of activity.
Until the handler went in and rushed the chickens out of the cages, I intentionally missed all the shots.
Even I was branded as a cold-blood bastard back then, I refused to build my happiness on another living being's suffering.

I remember when I was in China at Zhangjiajie National Park, there was a guy selling militaria stuff. He had sculptures made from bullets, and clothing and stuff. He also had an old US rifle bayonet that caught my eye. He wanted too much for it because of the condition etc, plus I wasn't sure how I'd get it home on the plane. After I got home I mentioned it in a gun forum I participate in and one guy told me that its a death penalty to possess a bayonet in China. He said they would view it the same as a pistol or machinegun. Now maybe that's not exactly true, but it did give me pause to not even be tempted at picking up knives and stuff on my travels. Not worth it.

At 11:42, you mention young people not able to move outside because too poor. I think it also has to do with many of them having no hukou; because their parent broke the one child policy. Especially in minorities populated area like Guangxi. Because they are not Hans, the don't necessary have the one child policy (Zhuang have it) but some variation of it (Dong, Miao, Yao...) which is less strict. Still, many families break above the limit, so some of their child won't be registered on hukou.
I think this video only became visible to me 12hrs after it was posted.
Guangxi province is a beautiful place i have been to various parts over the last 11 years and I can verify that it can be quite sketchy in the rural areas where I was offered many things including firearms
C-Milk's "I don't shoot rabbits" was so random and specific that I bet he's done it at least once lol
PS Idk about Californian laws regarding airguns specifically but I know that in general they're less regulated than firearms, so if you want to shoot your rats with an oomph and have something that can also protect your pets/kids from coyotes check out high powered, high caliber ones. There are even .50 cal ones using compressed air with fairly long range :v

You over-tightened the lid. I had one like that and I looked just like you trying to open it up.
You had me at air rifles. Anytime a South African talks about air rifles I'm listening. Just a fun fact most Western countries made silencers illegal and you had to go through extra steps because of poaching with air guns and that's why a lot of European countries have such strict laws, the US did the same thing but in the long term the federal government just kind of said it doesn't care anymore. Soooo yeah all the goodness.
That actually looks like a cool little town, the bits of old architecture give away that that was probably a very quaint place once.

Semantics. Had the seller been prosecuted for the air guns, he would have gone to jail instead of being executed, either way they're illegal and being openly advertised for sale.
I’ve never seen a gun in China. Only time was a police officer outside of CCTV building and it was wrapped up in a white cloth. Not sure how effective that would be.
I knew someone in college who's father legally had a shotgun for hunting in China. He was a CCP member so perhaps the Chinese government trusted him a bit more.

Dmt comes from a tree not a mushroom..
There are psilocybin mushrooms in China, but they're all considered poisonous. I assume the local ethnic groups had some kind of shaman culture long ago, but it would have been smashed or forgotten. There are fungi everywhere in the south due to how humid and warm it is for most of the year.
@@MiaogisTeas there was a shamanic culture in China centuries ago, probably spreading from India and other places in Asia. Same in the Americas, particularly in Latin America where it is very strong tradition amongst the indigenous peoples.
A .22 Air Rifle is more than capable of humanely dispatching most small game, just ensure its of a suitable power and your at a sensible range to ensure you get the kill shot... Here in the UK a .22 Air Rifle is pretty much the go too weapon for dealing with small game and pests. When you get over 12ftlbs you are required by law to get a fire arms license.
You gotta have a licence for that in Aus to.
