Hey Eirc In that era small pieces of sheet lead were used to cushion the flint in small arms and muskets . I've found some that were folded for such a purpose . Perhaps this is the unused piece ? Although it could have been for anything maybe this piece is this because it seems to have been cut for a reason . Hope this helps
I’ve been binging all day, I used to detect and my jaw has been on the floor since I started watching your channel. Your enthusiasm is coming through but it’s not dramatic or fake. I subbed about 3 hours ago. Just stinking WOW.
We find those brass rings here in New England mostly on farms, been told they are part of high end horse tac, they sound great and they’re always deep.
Super finds Eric! Glad I found your channel! Your sites are amazing! I'm sure you find some junk, but I'm glad you don't show it to us. Quality show buddy! Rk.
Very cool finds!
Thanks for the visit

Thank you for the insight. I did not know that. That definitely could be the reason.
@Eric_Detectorist
The thing that made me think of this is that you found the musket ball just after finding the lead so I figure just maybe lol
Great work Eric!!
More to come!

We didn’t have horses or large farms in northern Michigan until after 1870, could be though.
