This format is so much better for catch'em all. Your old video were interesting, but they were pretty much just cool trivia. This one feels like an unique challenge run, fun to watch from the beginning to the end.
I have been hoping to see this video for years now, I remember first seeing your gen 1 and 2 catch 'em all video about a month after it was uploaded and that was how I discovered what has become my favourite Pokemon channel on all of TH-cam. As someone who has now completed a full living dex (up to gen 8) I fully appreciate how difficult it is to do a catch 'em all way more than I did before. It's so great to see this video and I hope to see more Catch 'em all videos in the future.
You should definitely try a Professor Oak's Challenge too if you want another grind to work on! It's not for everyone but it's an interesting topic if nothing else. I've done two and rather liked it.

35:12 Idk if someone has already pointed it out, but the reason both evolve by trading is that, while they're being traded, Karrablast steals Shelmet's armour, so the former evolves to Scavalier, while the latter has to put up some clothes on, because he's now naked and vulnerable. But it also gains a lot of speed now that it isn't carrying the steel helmet, and thus evolves to Accelgor
These were the videos that got me into your content over anything and I'm so glad to see them come back. I would have liked to have seen the old style with all the unobtainable Pokemon displayed but this is still a triumph to see.
I really enjoy your “deposit once fully evolved” method of catching them all. It was refreshing to see something different than the usual “I will now try to fully evolve these 50 Pokémon before the first gym”
I like the idea of this method for a casual playthrough. Like for the most part use Pokemon that aren't fully evolved, but bring 'em out for major battles like E4.

I found you from your catch em all videos back when they were fresh and new. I was catching every pokemon myself across several games and generations at the time. Full on catch em all frenzy. Your catch em all videos were on constant repeat in the background for so much of my time. Gen 5 is where catching and completing the Pokedex started getting genuinely fun for me. I haven't watched beyond two minutes in yet but I had to write this comment. This is my most wanted video series from you. I love all your other content. As much as I dislike gen 1 nowadays (I see it as superannuated), I always watch yours bc well... It's you! I've been subscribed for years and it's been a pleasure to see your channel grow. I really hope this video does well, as I'd love a return of this series! Bw2 has the habitat list, Kalos has amazing diversity in each route and cave, Oras has dexnav, Alola has sos chaining and island scan. I can't wait to see you cover future games for this series. I've been looking forward to this one for years- I specifically recall watching the entire series up until gen 4 and was sad that Sun/Moon got a catch em all instead of Unova, back when I was in an entirely different situation of life- it's crazy how things change! Right now I’m working on a complete Living Dex for Generation 7. Honestly I think a mix of both style of Catch Em All videos would be best. You could show footage of the journey like you did for this video while including a smaller segment of you giving a visual aid of the summarized run like in the previous four generations

Honestly, I love this format, catching every Pokémon and only using the ones that need to evolve. It's dynamic, a bit challenging, and I'm sure would make Prof. Oak proud. I feel it's one of the most complete ways to play the game. I would love to see this format for every game.

These were the best games BY FAR and imo nothing can top those games off, not even SCARLET AND VIOLET, which are pretty fun games despite the preformance issues.
From an older fan's perspective, it was because Gen 5 was the first sign that the franchise was passing us by as we aged. I still had fun with it personally, though.
I skipped the games when they came out cuz I didn't like the pokemon designs I saw, which imo is the most important part of a monster collecting game. That still rings true today, I don't like majority of them after playing both white and white 2 before sword and shield released. They got fantastic music but I can't agree with anything else people say about them as "the best the franchise ever was"

As someone who has always had a bucketlist to make a rolling living Pokedex, I love these catch 'em all videos and as someone who has made the adult financial decision to stop spending the equivalent of a month's worth of groceries on broken shitheaps of nostalgia bait every year, I'll be stopping that living Pokedex in Gen 5, so I especially appreciate this video. I literally just beat White 2 last week after coming back to it on a roadtrip for the first time since middle school and I'm hyped to finish the postgame and start working on organizing my boxes by habitat
I had a lot of fun with this one. Catch 'em all runs appeal to me hard, it's how I generally play non-challenge runs now. They're a lot of fun and a good experiment in number crunching.

I find professor oak challenge videos to just be needlessly complicated/tedious
It's also more fun than just grinding e4 20 times to evolve the rest of the pokemon with exp share.

I always loved Black and White. I’ll never understand why people hated the games so much when they first came out.
I think it's because they were different back then. Moving sprites (Not just the sent out animation) and advanced story, that was new.
