thank you very much for the video I really enjoyed it i wish you had shown the whole picture for a few seconds at the end so that i could stop the video and take a closer look at it
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the suggestion of showing the artwork - I'll post it on the community tab, you can also see it on my website: longstrideillustration.com/
Just discovered your channel and I'm so glad because you're doing things pretty much the way I do, or try to do-- and also think about doing. Its been very helpful so far, I love all the topics, etc, you've covered so far!
Wonderfully presented information, watched it twice (so far!) and have watched another video by you. I love the way you lead into the process so we can understand how and why you present the rendering.
This is really incredible and helpful. And very generous. And the masters you are choosing are the greatest choices. I like Paolo Rivera at Marvel Comics, and his studies took him to Watts Atelier in San Diego. Beautiful work.
Thanks! I'm glad that you're enjoying my masters choices. I have a poll coming up soon to vote for the next one, so keep an eye on the community tab. I wasn't familiar with Paolo Rivera and am now following him, he colours traditionally! Pretty cool. I watch a lot of Bobby Chiu and Richard Friend's channels to learn more about upcoming comic and concept artists, I'm sure I'll find an interview somewhere with Paolo to watch. Cheers!
My hand refuses to work slow and steady, and recently I've come to accept that and enjoy it. Although your style couldn't be more different to mine, you always have valuable transferrable advice. Thank yoouu!!
@@longstrideillustration Your new class isn't on skillshare, yet - (It's okay - you are worth the wait) - I'm one of your regular followers - one that thinks dip pens are a marvelous mystery - Thank You for all you share with us/me 💙 -g-
Thank you, and - turning the paper is best when using dip pens because the angle of the nib in relation to the surface makes a difference. I see no reason to turn the paper when using other tools like pencils or fineliner pens.
@@BreinGames Keep an eye on the Community tab for my channel, that's where I post polls so that viewers can vote for the next Master Artist to feature - and that Golden Age gang is definitely next in the lineup!
This painting by Leyendecker reminds me of "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus under the Mistletoe", written by Tommie Connor in 1950 and first recorded by Jimmy Boyd in 1952. Leyendecker painted this in 1948, but it's very possible it was based on the song, as it was recorded many times after the original recording in 1952.
So wonderful to see a REAL artists at work.

It is your method, so perfectly structured, that makes you the artist that you are and, at the same time, the motivation that so many of us need.
Thank you! I worked with engineers for years, maybe their problem solving approach rubbed off on me a little (I hope) 😊
It's sooo beautiful ! 🤩

Your works are beautiful, I have a question - have you ever tried to do it without turning the paper even once? Regards
