Give yourself at least 6-month "emotional" holiday.
You think you are over it but you really don't, especially when your late wife had a major impact on your life.
After 6 months, you will be able to better handle your emotional side and make better decisions/choices.

Take it slow, if it happens it happens. I personally wouldn’t be actively seeking, but if someone right comes along I would give it a chance. But I would be very selective, at that age I would value my peace more than anything else. I rather be alone than deal with unnecessary drama.

You will be fine Kirk. The journey on Planet Earth is interesting and always a challenge. If another special lady comes along you will know. Sometimes one doesn't need to look it will be dropped into your lap. Stay focused on everything good as you are. People come into our lives for a reason, bringing happiness, joy, sadness, and grief whether we like it or not. Earth the learning Planet. xo

Kirk you have to find an ideal mate for yourself. Definitely the word “replacement” is never an appropriate word. No one can replace anyone!! I’m sure Wei Fong wants to see you to be happy lover and continue having a fruitful life, not a dull lost soul. No 2 persons are alike. Not a single soul in the world will ever be the same as Wei Fong. Go for it! You are not an unfaithful husband. She knows!

There is nothing wrong with moving on in your life. The most important thing I think is communication and seeing that your Chinese language skills are limited then I think your future partner most likely will need to be able to speak English. Take it from a long term veteran, you need to be able to totally understand each other, without English skills both you and your future partner will be lost in communication. Don't worry, plenty will say you can learn Chinese as you go along but that will take a lot of time and patience. Using google translate will get frustrating and it isn't correct sometimes. I need to re-translate sometimes to double check and then it is so wrong and need to start over. You choose your own path and what fits you, all good, I wish you luck.

I think you are right Kirk. When my wife Chin-Ni passed away a few years ago I had exactly the same things going through
my mind, but then I was thinking: what if the shoe had been on the other foot? What if I had passed first? I loved my wife,
would I have wanted her to live like a nun for the next 20 -30 years? Off course not !!! So go ahead, put some distance
between you and recent events and then find another nice new partner. Think of it that way, with what you're doing,
you can give another beautiful, middle aged lady an amazing, interesting lifestyle.

Being open to a new relationship is fine, but just put your guard up a bit against jumping into something too soon, even if it looks like the real deal, out of a desire to end your loneliness. At the same time steer around much-younger women who have a "daddy" complex, and be on the alert for widows closer to your age who are needy and desperate to find a nice man, such as yourself, to lean on. Weifang seems to have been an independent woman - maybe look for someone like that, who has her own life but at the same time is open to romance.

I won't repeat what others have already said. I think your main barrier of making a connect with someone is language. If you put some effort into learning Mandarin, it would make things much easier. In the event you do meet someone soon, I wouldn't compare her to Wei Fang because it wouldn't be fair to her. Imagine the new woman compares you to her ex-husband? Everyone is unique. Hope you will find the right person soon!

We hear you. Loosing a love one is tough. But finding another right person is even tougher. Take your time. When the right one comes along you would know it. There is no quilt in remarrying. Like my late wife said our Union ended when one of us passed. She made me promise her to marry again under one condition. That person has to be good to her two children. A few years later I did meet up with my new love, but we were not married for the children’s sake. She agreed.

You're 100% right to get yourself back in the game. Much the same as your good self I lost my wife, the mother of my kids. We'd been married for 23 years, 15 of which I'd spent looking after her full time as a carer due to her disabilities. Yes it's true not everyone agrees with "moving on", I wouldn't think of it as moving on, love is an energy, and like energy it can neither be created or destroyed. You'll always have that love but you'll also have so much more to give. I tried explaining to people it's not the hours without Pauline I found hard, it was the minutes. Go out an live life, because the last thing your wife would have ever wanted was for you to become ostrisied from life, take it at your own pace and I wish you all the best in your future. BTW 63?? Lad you look half my age and I'm 51! If I can meet someone, anyone can 😂

The chinese sages of the old saying goes: life is birth, growing old, sickness , death, lost love one, can't get what we want in life, and get things that we don't want. Encounter things and situations are worrisome, this is our life that we have to go through.. soon we all die, everyone has to die, people born from the past die, people born die and people born in the future die. we all have to go through, accept or not.
I say , try not to be alone , your job and duty is not stuck in the past, it is totally 1000000% gone, we grief as it is human goodness.. but then we have to let go and just get on with it.
your job is to do thing that you enjoy and it is good for you and also a little bit good for society or others. true love is unconditional, not physical. Just get another one and your previous partner has moved on, they don't wait for you in heaven as they say.. they want you to move. stop crying and victimized yourself.
good luck old boy. thanks for helping to promote chinese culture to the world, so people can enjoy it.

Kirk, it's good that your bigger brain is working instead of the little brother. I met so many dudes who were taken to the cleaners. Raging teenage hormone brings lots of problems. Being much lower on male hormone actually allows one to think properly. Life is happier when you can filter out all those potential red flags out there.

Yes find a live -in partner as long as the other partner agrees . That's the best choice.

It is not easy to live alone after you have a partner for so many years, but life goes on .. i have been doing it since i was 45 years old and now i am 59 still alone and retired for 4 years... now I just started feel lonely after retirement. Take care yourself and maybe you will find a suitable person to keep you company.. just moved back from The U.S and living in Jakarta metropolitan city, doing very well here.. watching you and I understand how you feel Gweilo..

Reminds me of a pop song from more than 30 years ago.
"We all need love. All god, children, me, and you. We all need love. I swear it's true. All god, children, me, and you." 🎶🎵

I would say you do what you feel is right, and ignore what other people say.
