I love so much how every detail matters She enters the building, three people are reading. The red carpet... in the other room, the lady is taking notes, etc ,etc. I wish I had a mentor like Derren
Have you paid attention to the media the last few years? Compare what they initially say, how people eat up what they want to hear, then when the media is actually proved wrong, people STILL believe the initial BS.
there's no curiousity happens, he already told her what will happen if she pushed the button, and there's also NO consequences on not doing it, it's a Win Win Situation,
Easy countermeasure against such Suggestions: rephrase them loud or in my mind: Ok I will keep the kitten safe, I will keep my hands to myself until the time is over, I'm a person who mentally shake off the tricks others try on me.....
She’s actually just weak minded, being ready to kill a whole kitten, no matter how much you manipulate someone if this person try to kill smth it means that’s the person is bad
Not necessarily bad just very dumb tbh, she had nothing to gain and everything to lose I'm honestly pretty sure this is staged I refuse to believe people are that dumb
@Derren Brown, thank you, this was fascinating. May I ask, is the negative suggestion hook something that would work on most people? I'm a HUGE fan of yours and know that you employ the use of many wonderful psychological techniques. I've just bought your book Tricks of the Mind and the audiobook Happy, which I'm currently enjoying, and I'd love to learn more from you. Obviously I don't expect you to reveal your techniques here, but I am curious about whether the lovely subject in this experiment, Lauren, would've been willing to press the button if she didn't assume deep down that you are a kind-hearted person, in addition to her need for $500, and her mental gamble that you would be unwilling to let her kill a kitten on television and then show it. I'm sure this all plays a part in the overall picture. Thanks for the amazing work you do, you have absolutely shifted my interest in magic from a physical art (card tricks and illusionary effects) to that of a more psychological appreciation for the art.
Aware of this concept (though your video explains it far better), I prefer positive terminology over negative; on my _The Paranormal View_ channel, in its outro instead of saying, "Don't forget to subscribe" (which most TH-camrs say), I word it: "Remember to hit the Like button, and to Subscribe"....
It would probably be very different in person. The cameras, knowing your being observed but not knowing what for, thoughts of what could happen if you pressed the button (maybe something positive would happen if she did something bad, she definitely thought about it since the thought of her younger self with her mother's makeup was in her head), and her surroundings. For me (and I would assume most people) would be very stressed. Idk bout you tho maybe you would do really well, it may also just depend on who it's happening to
So she had the urge to kill the kitten? Wtf. How hard is it to not press a button that you know will kill it. This is stupid asf. I’d get if she got paid to kill it. But all she had not do was NOT press it to kill it. So why did she ?
That was interesting. Okay, now we know how this word affected, but is there a video that shows the opposite of that? Or what should we say better than "don't do that"? I want to see if there's a video for the opposite of that.
I'm pretty sure there's something like that. Another comment stated it well, it's like when a TH-camr says "Don't forget to subscribe!" Maybe if they said "remember to like the video and subscribe!" it would have a better effect on the viewer because it doesn't directly involve something negative like forgetting, rather just a reminder for the viewer, it's more positive. I think that's what they meant, and I hope that's what you're looking for!!!
It’s sad how some people can be so influenced to do something. It’s not the difficult. I wonder what people would do if the task was to push the button. The cat would die but you’ll have $500. No amount of money would make me push the button. The choice is yours. Don’t let others control your will.
I agree. Having the confidence and belief in one self can help us overcome/fall prey to the will of others. But not too much confidence, just the right amount to question everything and hold your basic moral standards to account. It's very interesting.

Seems pretty scripted to me
Moral of the story is historically accurate: murderers get rewarded and set free.
What reward?

Would like to see Derren go on that TV show in America and try to fool Penn & Teller.
He so needs to do a new tv series

If that was me i would probably just think what will i buy with that amount of money and just ignore the cat
He must've drugged the guy at the fence, unless it was a bit 😂 nothing drops someone that quick except some heavy drugs or a hit to the head

Why she push the button. Shows how easily people can be manipulated
