  • Today my Son and I show how we change out the mechanical fuel transfer pump on a gasoline-powered Ford 3000. I couldn't find any videos on how to perform this task so I decided to make my own. Hopefully, this video will help someone along the way if they have to work on their tractor. I hope you enjoy the video & find it helpful. As always, have a good day & please subscribe.

Thanks kindly for making this video, Wolfie and son! I own a 3000, and it is the hardest tractor to work on I've ever had to take a wrench to. Replaced the carb recently, and the hard line fuel connections and throttle and choke linkages are all behind the carburetor where it's super hard to get to. This tractor model also has 3(!) fuel filters, one is in the fuel pump, one in the shutoff valve, and one in the sediment filter. Good luck cleaning the one in the fuel pump regularly. And as you say, why a fuel pump anyway? My other older Ford is gravity feed. Oh well, Thanks very kindly for your video -- when it comes time to remove the fuel pump, I'll know what I'm getting into. Thumbs up!

Thanks so much for watching my video! I've had to take the carburetor off this one to clean it & wow, what a job that was. I should've made a video on that as well. I think they designed this tractor so that nobody could work on it, lol. I didn't realize there was a filter on the pump as well, I hope I never have to clean it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching & commenting! 🙂

Is there a Ford 3000 thats diesel also? Im looking at buying a ford 3000 and the fuel pump is bad. Online it shows them being about $800,

I think they made them in diesel as well. With a price tag of $800 it sure sounds like that would be for an injector pump. The fuel pump for this one came from ebay and I think was around $40.00.

Thank you internet stranger for this video. I just inherited a 4000 Ford tractor. It's got a long history in my family and I am the third generation owner. I can't wait to get the thing back to its former glory. Thank you again definitely a new sub

This video is just what I needed. Just figured out today that my 3550 has a fuel pump. Wondered why my oil was 3/4" over the full mark; now I know.
Most sites say remove the radiator for access but I much prefer your way.

Thank you for watching & for your comment. I'm glad my video was helpful. It took me a while to figure out it had a fuel pump. It's tucked away so tight it's hard to even see it.

Hello and thanks for sharing 😃
I’m a do it yourself woman that can’t afford to pay for someone to work on my tractor so people like you sharing is much appreciated.
I’m curious to know if your son’s tractor was running poorly or not starting at all before your fuel filter replacement? My 3000 gas tractor starts and idles ok but runs very poorly at high rpm. I’ve replaced gas filters (sediment bowl & inside the gas tank) replaced the carburetor, plugs, distributor cap, rotor and wires and it still runs the same?? I may need this gasoline fuel pump that I wasn’t aware of?? What’s your thoughts? Thanks again

You're welcome, and thanks for watching and commenting. If I remember correctly, I don't think his tractor was running at all. A good way to see if your fuel pump is pumping is to follow the line coming from the fuel pump to the carburetor. Once you locate the line, take it loose from the carburetor & crank the tractor over a few times. If it doesn't squirt fuel out the line & you've replaced the filters/cleaned sediment bowl & cleaned the filter in the tank that's on the shut off valve, there's a good chance you have a bad fuel pump.
