“One of my most prized possessions is a very banged-up vinyl copy of Bo Hansson´s Lord of the Rings that I found in what you call ‘Sperrmüll’ in German - heaps of stuff that people throw out and that block the street until waste collection takes it away. The record was scratched and warped and the melodies seemed to me like faint silhouettes in a snowstorm. You really had to be attentive and search through the noise to enjoy the unearthly quality of the music. For “True North” I tried to reproduce the feeling of listening to that record.” - Ziggurath

Glad I’m not the only one listening to Dungeon Synth while reading Dan Simmons. The album ‘Alchemy’ by Witan carried me through the whole of Hyperion.
First it was tropical synth and now it is winter synth. Waiting for the Sub-saharan album next!

@@Ziggurath He was big in the 70s/80s Italian horror boom, particularly in Lucio Fulci's films. Did some wonderfully creepy soundtracks.

The album cover is a joke. It's a lazy AI piece with zero thought, creativity, or effort put into it. Better to support the 99% of musicians that don't cheapen their music with lazy tools that literally steal and blend the work of real artists.

Shame the album cover is lazy, soulless AI "art" with no skill, thought, or talent behind it. It's a tool that literally steals the work of REAL artists and blends it together into an ugly amalgamation. It shows a real lack of effort, and it deserves zero respect or admiration.

It's not a shame. These tools are publicly available and transformative. All the narratives around theft are emotional grifting BS. Let the courts decide what is "ethical". Stop shaming individual artists for using tools that transform media. DS projects are the perfect forum for this kind of technology and shaming people for using it is childish, misguided, and extremely sanctimonious. I am a huge fan, but as an artist am disappointed at the AI cover. Wonderful music! Perhaps look into how damaging AI is, from one artist to another.
70% of ai art is garbage and like 29% is mid tier. Trash generation algorithms
Disappointed by the AI cover, Ziggurath's fantastic music deserves better.
I mean he made it himself, if that's good enough for the artist, it's good enough for me.
