These are all excellent handwriting styles. But I think most people usually have one main style based on how they learned it first. It shows when you actually write something with the goal of writing something down quickly without time to think about how it will look. What comes out automatically in a situation like that is one’s “main” or “real” handwriting. But if you write slower specifically trying to make the writing look a certain way then it will be like what you wrote by design.

Great stuff! Love the technique and overall look of all of them. If I may share an advice (that also worked for me personally) - with cursive, especially something between a Spencerian and Palmer's, make sure you follow the "s" downstroke to the left and touch the other line - otherwise your "r" and "s" will look dangerously alike! Also, the ampersand should be full height. Keep getting better! I know I'm trying every day if I can. ;)

I was today years old when I learned there were various styles of cursive writing. I'm 44. When I was young, there was just plain old "cursive'". The time has now come to teach my son. Where do I even start?!

I went to Staples for supplies for my business. I took a check to pay for it. When filling out the check, I wrote cursive. (Not as well as this!!) The young boy at the cash register was amazed I wrote that way. I asked him , "Don't you sign your name at times?" He said "Yes". "Well thats cursive." I said. He went on to tell me that's the only cursive thing he knows, and his uncle taught him how to sign his name!

I have a very tough time printing. I usually use cursive. I'm a southpaw, and my writing has never been that great. It sucked in grammar school. When I was a young adult, I started practicing my handwriting and it's much better. It took some time as I'm also Dyslexic. Printing is still tough for me. But my printing is legible. I still prefer cursive.

It would have been very helpful to me (& others?) to see a single sheet at the end with all styles showing on one page, then i could do a side-by-side comparison to decide: "I like that one best -- that's the one I want to print a copy of and practice so i get good at it, even tho I may tweak it a tad to make it mine.". TFS, tho.

Hello, I admire your writing, yet it seems you are gripping the pen quite hard and have your fingers bent too much. This makes it harder to have a nice even flow to the curves. I will also suggest slanting the paper some. Your elbow, wrist, hand, and fingers should all be relaxed and almost straight, just a slight curve, as you go across the paper. Elbow should be at the center under the paper. That will let your tip go evenly and keep your letters all at the same slant. Do not press too hard, so the tip glides across the paper and does not dig in. Best of luck.

I see very little difference in Spencerian and Cursive. You use the word "beautiful" in both and the only noticeable difference is the letter "u." I write my capital "I" the way you do in Spencerian but my capital "S" is different, like a lower case "s" with a loop on the top. And my capital "T" is in two parts, lower, then upper. Of course they are not as neat as yours.
