Fukuoka, Japan, October 4, 2019 - Matthew Anderson scored a match-high 23 points as the United States defeated Poland 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 24-26, 27-25) at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup on Friday.
USA coach John Speraw: "It was another great match between the USA and Poland. They are deep and well-coached. We served well in the first and second sets, then we started missing. It is always just one or two points that make the difference against Poland. Tonight we got it.
"I hope Thomas Jaeschke will be OK after his injury. We are hoping for the best and for his quick recovery."
USA captain Micah Christenson: "I want to give enough praise for Thomas Jaeschke. He made a massive change for our team. He's a great example for the way we should play. My prayers are with him after the injury.
"When we play against Poland we know it's going to be difficult. We knew it was going to be a battle. We are proud that we were able to execute our game plan."
Poland coach Vital Heynen: "They deserved to win. This was like a soccer match in Europe with two halves. They dominated in the first half and we came back to almost make it 2-2 in the second. I changed the team a bit and we are still missing some players. I hope Thomas Jaeschke will be OK. They played sharper than us today."
Poland captain Bartosz Kurek: "The match was fair-and-square. From the outcome, it could have gone both ways. This is a long tournament so we have to take something from this game, but we have to move on and concentrate on the next games."
On Vital Heynen and Wilfredo Leon Venero: "I don't like to compare the past and the present. We are trying to build something for the Olympic Games. We are thinking about our main goal, that's what we're focusing on. Leon is one of the best players in the world, if not the best. He's a great addition to the team. We need to get to know each other because we've never played together before. I hope we can develop something to achieve our goal in the Olympic Games. I think we are in a good path for that." - กีฬา

The way Anderson positions his ball to the blockers hand is quite astonishing. A lot of his points came from it. Thats a deadly weapon he has there!

Yeah seems like, get blocked just once and literally no mistake in attack with so high intensity. Hell amazing performance. Unfortunately Poland was one step behind USA in this game.

Ivan Miljkovic for me is the graetest in history in the position , i am brazilian and i saw many many games of the great Milkovic , if it weren't for that Brazilian team in the early 2000s Serbia wold be the greatest Champion of the decade and great responsible was Miljkovic and Nikola Grbic ... only 2 players , they pratically took them the olympic title for Yugoslav in Sydney 2000 !

Never underrated.... He is the top three in his position .. he never makes big mistakes but this American team always being weak in some key points except him.. the last game last several balls prove he is so so so so so good .. and he also proves in his club in zenit ...
Anyone underrating Anderson doesn't know his game at all. He is agruably the best hitter in the world at both OH and OPP.

Bro, he's never been underrated. Every commentator in men's senior competition knew how good he is. Even players battling against team USA knew how monstrous his attacks and services are. He is a well decorated player from his collegiate career until now.

@Grupa Trzecia XD, cała operacja była bardzo mało inwazyjna, prosta. Nie był to nie wiadomo jaki zabieg, troche mu zajmie zanim wróci do pełnej sprawności, ale nie widze problemu czemu ma nie móc grać jak wcześniej. Musi dojść do siebie po dlugiej przerwie. Lekarz raczej nic mu nie zabronił, gdyby tak było nie byłby powołany do kadry, głupi to ty jesteś.

Felipe Maldonado yeah your right about that but all around I think chemistry is important Poland tries implementing new pieces and the US seems to be on the road of finalising there roster...
The way he can make adjustments in the air is some next next level stuff for sure. Throw in his service and blocking and he has to be considered one of the greats of all time. The US is super luck to have that level of player at setter.

Burke Harris yeah exactly and all they hype is Bruno and Marouf those two neither have the blocking or the defense of Micah... I quiet frankly think the only Comparable man on the planet is Gianelli though he sometimes lacks defense his serve block and height make everything up

If you watched the full game, its not Anderson who gives hard time for Poland, its Holt with his solid blocks and good serves that made Poland hard time To received. In set 2 they have huge advantage but because of Holt they still catch UP and win the set. If Poland uses more Middles in set1 and 2, they Will win the game, outside hitter like Leon Will have only one blocker.

やっぱり、フジがその場しのぎのファンで、サポーターをつくらず、エンターテイメントとして、バレーの世界大会の品位を落としてきたから、他国対他国の客入りが少ないんじゃないかな？平日ってのもあるけど、、、バレーだろうがバスケだろうがスポーツは見てて面白い。それでも、応援と運動球技が渾然一体となった、高校野球甲子園はエンターテイメントとして別格、世界に誇れるイベントだとおもう。これはやっぱり、高校部活動で長年嬉し涙悔し涙をのんできた日本部活動のたまもの、だとおもう。野球なら球技の表裏の応援合戦・バスケであれば、拍のおもてうらの応援化学反応。きっと、バレーにもなんかあるおもう。でもそれは、高校時代にベンチ内ベンチ外その演者だけがたどりつける、高みなんだとおもう。俺にはわからん。どうすればバレーの世界イベントが日本が世界に誇るイベントになるかは。嬉し涙の分悔し涙の分・高校時代その世界リレーが。

По нарезке, играли в атаке только два игрока Леон и Андерсон... Курека даже не видно было, а то что он атаковал, все поднималась... Курек-игрок одного матча, одного чемпионата... То, что поляки выиграли последний ЧМ-это большая удача для них... По составу и игре больше заслуживали сербы или американцы.... В этой игре Андерсона было просто не остановить.. Забил все, что дали... из всех точек палил как из пушки...

I think if Drygyzga uses more middles in first and second it will be very difficult for USA, he uses middles more often in 3rd in 4th where they get a lot of points.and Leon will have 1 blocker if middles connects

Он то - ли сам очень высокий,то - ли прыгает высоко,что из-за такого съема не могут нормально заблокировать его,сколько мячей от блока забивает.
