Looking good guys. Definitely looking “top of the wozza”. With your rear view camera, what is the viewing angle. I’ve just replaced my 120deg with a safety dave 45deg. Now I can actually see what’s behind me. Safe travels and merry Christmas to you and your family.
Hey mate, you have been selected as the winner of the icheck first aid kit. If you can please email us at wildtouring1@gmail.com we will organise posting this out to you! 😁 hope you had a great Christmas!
So I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for your informative videos mate. My wife and I are planning a lap to begin in 12 months. Neither of us have much experience camping let alone 4x4 driving or towing and have learnt so much from just the few videos we've watched of yours. A lot of these other channels get so big they forget their roots, so to find anything other than a constant advertisement is a win and to be educated is the bonus... thanks again for the top of the wozza content
Hi Cameron, being following your channel for over 2 years, at least. Inspired me and family to do some of the trips, often your channel is the go to for planning our trips. The main one was your solo dash to Uluru via Nullarbor and back via The Great Central Hwy. I am so pleased you upgraded to LC300, got mine back in Feb, went for Rhino Pioneer platform rack, like you noticed THE wind noise; never as loud on my D3. So am keenly await update on your Yakima dilemma... keep up the great work 👍.
I had the same issue with the pioneer platform on a 200 series which I didn’t get with the same rack on a Prado so it is definitely something about the curve of the roof against the flat rack. I got rid of about half of it by making up a wind deflector which hangs down from the bottom of the rack at the front. Due to the curve of the roof it doesn’t stop all of the air rushing between the rack and the roof but it stops enough to make it acceptable.
"Top of the Wozza" We appreciate all your honest advice, no BS.. its just the real deal. Your build is the KISS method.. only get what you need. Roofrack.. hmmm I have same valid concern. We have the lightbar but not the roof rack. Light bar no wind noise.. Merry Xmas to the family. Bear hugs to Percy. 😂
This rugged 4x4 is top of the wazza, excelling in off-road capabilities, durability, and featuring top-of-the-range features for an adventurous driving experience. May you and your family have a safe holiday.
Loving the build, beginning to look like the ultimate touring and towing rig. Great research on all the products fitted so far, that UHF antenna is top of the wozza, now on my list.
Top of the wozza mate this has to be Australia’s best looking 300 series hands down. Built for purpose; no fancy wiz bangery and ready for anything. Huge fan
A great year of content. Thank you for taking everyone there Cam and thank you for tirelessly editing everything for us Tiff. Well Done the kids as well. Have a great Christmas..
TOP OF THE WOZZA. Great build. Yes my son in law put a Yakima on his new Ford Everest. Same problem wind sound. He's been told to fit a wind deflector. He is thinking a light bar. Cheers.
They sell a deflector for the Yakima, but not too keen on the design. It fixes to the front of the rack and sits on the roof 😬 can’t imagine it would be too good for the paintwork after a few thousand kms of corrugations…
Code word 'Top of the Wozza' with the wind rack noise try isolating the cause pool noodle, tape side rack cut-outs and cardboard floor. Cheap as then add the light bar, solar panels and awing you will probably be surprised and hope it works out well for you, such an honest review. Thank you as always!
Cheers mate, thats exactly what I’m thinking! I’ll isolate exactly where the issue is and then hopefully sort it with the right placement of light bar/fixed solar etc.
Merry Christmas to you guys and thanks for getting our order out to us pronto! The build series has been a very laid back Wild Touring series 11/10. Some can be a bit OTT
Merry Xmas Tiff and Cam...one of the reasons on my 200 Series I got rid of the Rhino Rack and went with ARB Base Rack.....zero noise! I may just be lucky, but compared to my old rack..massive difference. I'll need to go back through your vids to see why you chose the GX versus GXl etc. Looking forward to more content on this 300...still undecided on what to look at next.
Great vid mate, the arb base rack with wild deflector is super quiet on the 300s if you end up changing your rack. I fit them all the time and they're the quietest I've come across. Good luck with the car, looks great & isn't overdone.
Congrats on the build, looks great. FYI I have Wedgetail platform roof rack mounted on Prado 150 - it has wind deflector as standard feature, very little if any wind noise.
I am so jealous of your top of the wozza car! Yeah it may not be the top of the range but it’s pretty bloody beautiful and it’s something the average joe can actually afford. You guys are relatable and I love that. I learn so much from Cam when he goes through the stats. I need a beer at the end because 🤯 then I start researching for my car 😂 ahhh I’m so broke lol
Can't wait to see the big beast in action, As a Patrol owner (twice) looking to see if the new 300 is worth my interest to replace my old rig for towing.. You guys are a Top of the Wozza family and a great channel, good to see you back in action.
@@WildTouring nah, never a 62 mine is an old 2003 4.2TDi.. previously a 90 TB42.. we're going to give our old girl a chance, but if it can't cope with towing our new van (April arrival) then it's looking for a new rig.. not a yank tank as too wide for the Vic high country.. have a Merry Christmas and top of the wozza to you sir..
Top of the Wozza! Enjoying the vids! We too have weight issues. If you can find spare weight and theres room on the roof next to solar panels, look into a fold up boat. Weve had ours 6months and love it. Lightweight and gives you the best of both world's. Vanning and boating. We took ours out yesterday to the end of Busselton Jetty. Handled like a breeze. Caugh some squid on way back in. Happy days. Safe travels to you and the fam 🎄
Congratulations…..300 series looks top of the Wazza. Have and awesome Christmas Tiff & Cam, with Chloe & Brodie and your family….safe travels. Look forward to watching more of your adventures in 2024
Thank you Cam and Tiff for a heaps of great adventures, loved watching all your episodes this year. Hope you and your family have the best Chrsitmas and New Years .Cant wait to see your 300 at the end . top of the wozza.
Hey Cam, great car and great vid. The yakima i think is 1230mm wide, the Rhino is 1380mm wide, that would avoid the platform being narrower than the rail mounts at the front.
"Top of the Wozza" loving this build. You have got me thinking hard about an upgrade. I've been happy with ARB base rack on my Prado. It is pretty streamline too.
Love the Bull bar it really is top of the wozza, had mine on order for a while but is being fitted next week along with the new Bushranger COVERT winch. Just on the roofrack, I had the Rhino rack series 5, and I have just replaced with the Rhinorack series 6 (new model). drastic reduction in wind noise. love it
The 300 is looking great, I fitted the same Arb bar to our 200 series, just outside Cunnamulla towing our , we had the misfortune to hit a half grown cow. The bar was damaged but did a great job. The grille was cracked, and the spotlight mounts were broken but that was all. When the bar was removed, there was no chassis damage .Times like that one feel glad a quality bar was fitted. That is crazy Toyota not giving you a weight limit ,what happens if roof damage occurs sounds like a minefield to me.We run the same material seat covers the only issue is creases on the low section of driver seat ,good for liquid spills.
Wow that’s impressive that there wasn’t more damage hitting a cow! Got to be happy with that outcome! Yes it’s very disappointing Toyota don’t specify a load rating, that’s why I’ve been so careful to choose a rack that’s clear about its rating!
@WildTouring we only doing approx 30k. Thank goodness, only 1 low bush that's where the cow was hiding ,we were slowing as we saw more cattle about 1/2 k up the road.
Mate, I am genuinely very attracted to the 300, it looks great! Tough, simple, all business! Apart from that damage in the beginning, I think you made the right call with the ARB bar. It looks the business. I had the very same issue with my Rhino Rack and now my RTT with the wind noise. Consider maybe mounting a big lightbar underneath to try deflect some wind, it did make a difference for mine.
Cheers Matty. Stoked with how it’s turned out. Probably have a play with some pool noodles, sheets of ply etc to work out exactly where the wind noise is coming from and then sort something out more permanent! I reckon a lightbar and fixed solar will improve it 👍🏼
Top of the wazza is what your looking for. May I suggest putting a bigger piece of ally the same angle as your windscreen at the front of your roof rack , it will stop the noise have done this myself and it works well. That's if you are not going to fit a bar light. Regards Alan.
Hi Cam if you want to get rid of that noise from the roof rack , try to did some hard plastic sheeting to fit along the rack supports , the cut outs in the supports may be causing the aerodynamic noise, plastic would be light to glue or screw on the outside & cheaper than changing the rack Gluing on is for testing to see if it works then screw for a more permanent fix
Cheers mate, good idea. Was thinking of playing around with some retic, sheets of ply, pool noodle to isolate exactly where the issue is and then find a more permanent solution 👍🏼 I reckon I’ll sort it with a light bar under the front of the rack and some solar panels on top.
Looking great. I put a Front Runner roof rack on my D-max and it is super noisy as well. Thought I would try something other than Rhino, but I think they are the go. The cover on my Stedi light bar mounted to the roof rack made it sound like a jet engine taking off! 😂
As a trail bike rider a top of the wozza first aid kit might keep the Mrs off my back a little.....ha nah it wouldn't! 300 hunge looks mint, keen to see it wheel!

Top tip; never tow a van that is heavier than the vehicle you’re towing it with.
“Top of the Wozza” can’t say I’ve heard that saying before. Love it.
The build thus far is TOP OF THE WOZZA!
It’s coming along nicely, good luck with Tiff and the wind buffering “Top of the Wazza”

I also have a 300GX and have. Wedgetail roof platform. It comes with a air scoop at the front and its near noiseless. Have a look at it.
Cheers mate, hear good things about the wedge tail 👍🏼
Top of the wozza. I need a first aid kit as I’m old and prone to hurting myself. Thank you

Top of the Wozza, love your videos they are very informative and a great help for those including myself, that are looking to travel.
Try a few coils of rope around the front bar of the roof rack. It will spoil the wind and hopefully stop the noise. Top of the wozza!
New bus is looking absolute top of the wozza. Making me want one.
Top of the wazza....top job on the cruiser. Love the bullbar
The build is coming along nicely. The top of wozza tinting looks great.
