I don’t think it’s Netflix, but whatever. There may be a valid box-office reason for casting Redmayne, who I’m sure is good in this, but they surely missed a trick(imo) in casting, as the perfect actor to play the ‘Jackal’ would have been - Freddie Fox! Yes Edward’s son!
If he had been available and offered it, what a fantastic reboot connection that would have been! His chilling performance as Jeremy Bamber in the tv drama ‘White House Farm’ (2020) was incredible and if he had been cast as the ‘Jackal’, this would have been the perfect ‘boost’ to his career on the big screen that surely he deserves.

"Black people shoe-horned into British history", you say. Not just British history, but show-horned into every corner of British society. Younger citizens might be being brain washed into this false reality but I, and everyone of my generation, know that the only reason this is happening is make up for the lack of natural talent. ESG and woke policies of Government, media and corporations require black people to be given an artificial, exaggerated leg up, which, quite frankly, is now so absurd that even young people must see the complete disconnect between what they see on the television and media compared with reality. If I were a black person the elevation of my race into every part of British life, and especially British history, is not just obviously false but very demeaning and patronising.

The wartime diet was the best this country ever had. People must understand that Britain is and has never been like the US. America is a nation of immigrants, Britain hasn't been for a 1000 years.

I cancelled my subscription to New Scientist many years ago when they refused to accept material from those who disagreed with the B/S man made climate change mantra.

The sad fact is Simon that all parts of the establishment have been infiltrated by this ideology. Just because the New Scientist features articles written by scientists does not mean that the features editors etc will be, they have probably studied media at university which means they would be heavily indoctorinated in left wing politics and wokeism, like most other people in the media these days. Most publications relating to technical matters carry these messages these days too. Engineers and technicians are nearly always portrayed as being female and more often or not black, from the Indian sub continent or oriental. I worked in engineering for over fifty years and that was certainly not my experience though their was the odd exception. To be honest I was actually a bit surprised that so few women took it up as a profession, but then again compared with being a lawyer, accountant, etc. engineers in Britain aren't anywhere near the top of the salary scales.

It's totally beyond my comprehension that anyone would put their faith in a popular science magazine, let alone read one. After the Climate con and the Pantodemic? Do me a favour.

Watch the new series of Wolf Hall on Sunday. See if it has been 'woked'.
Remember it is set in Tudor times.

Now we have a “new” labour regime, does Simon feel a piece from the New Scientist exhorting the benefits of rationing in Britain a coincidence? They refused to abolish rationing in the 1951 election and were despised by ordinary people who felt the state crushing their throats by restricting what food they could eat. This resulted in thirteen years of Conservative government, who when elected in 1951, abolished rationing the day after the election. My grandmother for one, NEVER forgave labour.

There was rationing until 1953. I have evidence to support this.

It is very interesting, but maybe not very surprising.
Some years ago a book was publsihed in Germany with the title: "Deutschland scafft sich selbst ab".
In English it would be "Germany is abolishing itself". Except of course that today it looks like as England in fact is on the road to abolishing itself.
A good start is to rewrite English history.
The next step could be to burn the older books that tells a different story from the officially approved history?
I am not saying that this would happen, but if someone starts to tamper with our history to present a complete untrue picture of the past, then we probably have a problem.
