Using reference codes has to be a game changer! I also love the idea of having a 'vault' - my organizer tends to only have a 'dump', and a 'do now'. The vault may keep things from getting lost in the dump.

OMG I think you've done what I couldn't do and it's one of those "why didn't I think of that" Thank you!!

I'm glad it works for you, but this is very complicated. I'm looking to simplify, not complicate things even more. :-) Thanks for the insight!

+Roger Market Thanks for the comment Roger! You can make the system as simple as you want. Take a notebook and split it into 2 sections: uses the first half for live lists and the second half for dumping. Collect to-dos, ideas, thoughts, whatever is in your head in the Dump section.
Then each day take a new page in the Live List section and make a list of anything you want to work on right now based on what is in the Dump and anything else you can think of that needs attention now. Then just carry over anything you don't get done to the next Live list :-)

I think the use of item+page nums is innovative and addresses one of major headaches of paper lists but when.
I look at the sheer number of page flips in your demo even for a simple example (albeit the video is sped up) this just confirms for me why apps (databases) are better for this kind of todo tracking. I certainly use notebooks for meeting notes but ALWAYS use databases for addresses, phone numbers and todo's because they are all items you need to *search* for. I applaud your effort in making paper less 'dreadful' for todo tracking but an app is always going to a better solution with tagging, searching, alarms, sharing, reporting, visualisation etc etc. So I'm afraid you haven't convinced me but I do think you should consider designing an app ...

It's a matter of turning weakness into strength. Application offers a lot of features but mobiles are also distracting, and some people can be easily dragged out of their focus. In my case, I don't use this system specifically but I write my tasks in a notebook & I add the uncompleted ones to Wunderlist at night

How do you suggest setting up a notebook if you don't have the strikethru notebook?
