If I lived in an area that was applicable I would think differently. Living on the eastern basin of lake erie it is impossible to find better smallmouthnfisshing than what you find in lake erie. I can also get a 14' boat With a fishfinder, a trolling motor, and a main motor and a paddle kayak for the same price I could outfit a new hobie with the same amenities. Sorry I don't see the value when a top of rhe line pedal kayak is gonna cost me over 5000 to get on the water with everything on it.
Also you don't have to worry about getting to the lake and your motor all of a sudden won't start. Or you get ready to take your boat out and a trailer light is blown out. I went from a boat to a kayak and I love it. I have an Old Town Sportsman PDL 106 and a sit inside Future Beach Trophy 126. Both decked out for fishing with fish finders.
If you fish with a friend in a boat you’re both right next to each other which means you’re fishing for the exact same fish at the same time. If you fish with a friend in kayaks you can spread out and fish with some room.
That’s exactly why I bought 2 Feelfree kayaks so I can bring a family member or friend. And your right about spreading out..that way you can be covering different territory.
I do alot of spring and river fishing in the Ozarks...Current River, JacksFork , Montauk, Black River and Castor river and a few others... these are all in southern Missouri! If yall ever get the chance go to one of them!
I got a Ranger Z with 16 hours on it in the garage... it was a deal and for others to fish with me and grandkids later. I caught 20, 30 times more fish from my canoes and Jackson Bite Angler Kayak in 2022. Mayne its because I've fished from canoes for my entire life but I feel like I'm better...do better...and I know I'm able to fish more efficiently from my paddle craft. The ONLY thing I really appreciate with the Ranger is fishing big lakes... we do have some within a few hours of me in the 100,000 acre range. 90% of the time though, I'm up in a little creek arm or down a little river in my yak or canoe.
They say, there are 2 days great days while you have a boat, 1st one is when you buy the boat, 2nd is when you sell it! I sold my boat that I used 6 times in 2 years. Bought a paddle fishing kayak and and pretty much used it every weekend last summer. Can't wait for this summer. Better yet, retirement in 2 years so will have even more time on the water.
I grew up with my Dad having a Bass boat and other things you could have mentioned like, General Maintenance - Cleaning, Vacuuming, Hull Damages, Prop Damage, Lower Transit Damages, Paint Chips, God Forbid you have Engine Failure, Having to Tarp it up in case it rains and when the carpet Does get wet it has to dry properly so it doesn't have the Mold smell. Transporting the Boat is also a hassle. Battery Replacement, all the bits and pieces that get damaged over time. Yeah, plenty of things to worry about when owning a Boat and most people really only use them 1/2 of the year and all the money is wasted on a Thing taking up space. Lastly, Resell Value on all Boats is Abysmal!!
Kayak fishing seems great, but some of these guys that spend $10k-$15k on a kayak it would make more sense to buy a beginner bass boat like a Bass Tracker or a Lowe for the same price with a 50-60 hp engine on it and a good set of electronics you're good to go. No you don't need to spend $50k on a bass boat to get out there fishing but either way is a good way to go out there. Me personally I'd probably get both depending on the type of water I'd be fishing in as they both have their pros and cons but doesn't mean to rule out a boat completely. Great video man and thanks for the information with your reasons as well.
I've had confrontations with bass boat guys for reasons unknown to me. They just seem to hate kayaks here in Oregon. I'm polite and keep to myself and never block or cut off a boat. I think the toothless tweak glitter rockets just hate because I can actually afford to fish without taking out a loan to buy gas.
nothing wrong with a kayak i have a 10ft pond prowler (like size to a kayak ) but my favorite is my Cumberland Float Tube fits in the trunk of a car and hands free moving best for the small waters in MN
In my opinion, I think it’s not possible to compare a boat & kayak, mainly they are 2 completely different types of vessels. Example, for off shore and large body of water, a boat would be suited more than a kayak. Kayaks are great in lakes and rivers. A boat for me, you can explore more water, faster, and cover a lot more water, specially when you fish in the bay. I prefer a boat, because fishing from the bay, I can eat my fish, and all my fish have value in the market, in a way it’s a substitute for my petrol expense’ comparing a boat to a kayak, is like comparing a car to a bike ‘ just not possible to compare ‘
Reason #10 - I’m sure you’re well aware of how the Feelfree brand of Kayak’s sell so well and that is due to that comfortable seat that comes with it. I have 2 FF yaks and just love the seat.
Another reason some people like fishing kayaks is it allows you entry into kayak only tournaments and events. Sort of a given, I know. I don't fish these environments but I know some guys that are into it.

@@wendellfishing Nice motor , that help you out from waypoint to the next. Not as bad here in Ohio but lakes like Murray, Kentucky or Guntersville. The trouble in Ohio is there's usually only one set of ramps unless you can throw the kayak off the bank. The BKFT has CJ Brown( Springfield) on the schedule. The lake gets really super busy with big recreation boats and the bass are clear opposite side of the lake. Need a motor on that one.

All good brother! As long as you are out there slaying them.

You forgot #19 you have to register your boat every 3 years here I the state of Georgia but my kayak I don’t so that saves money 😊
Oh man... I wish it was that way in Ohio! Awesome
If my kayak was motorized I would but it’s not so I’m good.. how does it work in Ohio??
