As a former landmine technician, planting a minefield is the most boring, tedious, brain rotting thing you can do. Finding them later is like killing yourself but in super slow motion.
The mines are very close together. In practise they are not usually set this close to each other or the detonation of one can set off a chain reaction. If you are demining, it is much harder to clear an area where there are metal fragments around as these give false signals on detectors. I have demined WW2 minefields in North Africa but things are much more difficult now, mostly due to very little metal being used.
No... the bouncing Betty has a delay fuse that would be activated when stepped on. Several seconds after activation a secondary charge would detonate, launching the device approximately six feet in the air where the primary charge would then detonate. It created an air burst which covered a larger area and was extremely lethal.
The mines would have likely killed all of them as they launch to around waist height and basically shotgun everything in a 360 degree area with pellets flying everywhere. The US basically copied this along with many other nations, the US version is the M-16 mine.
STOP you're in a mine field! Kids just keep running to get out of the danger as quickly as possible because kids trust their feet more than some old guy yelling at them.
I think that was a poor display of what they are actually capable of. The radius is much larger and even rises up to about hip level before the blast is initiated in all directions.
Yes, my brother- in-law stepped one in VietNam- it severed tendons in his forearm and when he looked down it appeared he'd lost his hand - nasty stuff.
Drugs Bunny The more people you have, bunched up, the more feet are stomping on the ground trying to find a mine. Have one person attempt to get across. Others to follow, one at a time, stepping in the previous footsteps and over the corpses untill the parh is cleared w/the least amount of casualties. Minefields are always covered by gunfire ...
This is a WW2 video. Soldiers very much walked just like that, for safety. Not only that, but the Soviet forces simply pretended there was no such thing as a minefield and just charged.
I liked how after the explosion he screamed "stop, u r in a mine field"....LOL
Partha Bandyopadhyay
Noticed he yelled that 2l2l !
Too little,
Too late.
Blimey ...
That's exactly why soldiers are trained to do what they are told and trained for so so intensely. STOP! and soldiers would all freeze.
"Steven wants to find out if it's possible to cross a minefield unharmed." This is the dumbest "experiment" ever.

I love how they use S-Thunder Co2 powder mines designed for airsoft and paintball
How long would it take to sprout a mine tree after planting a mine?
We'll depends on what month of the year you planted it. I like to lay AT Mines in the fall and AP Mines in the spring.
If you have the patience to keep watering and fertilizing, you can grow an M1-A1 tank in just a few years.
I wanna be in the group that plants the mine...
It would be fun to be both groups too.

1:13 "Are you ok?" Yes, we like running in a minefield. Yehey!
this needs to be implemented in us army training. from a combat engineer
it takes ~5 secs before detonation and the killing radius of over ~400ft. crazy effect.
Simple Words
It go Boom
Now plant a tellermine and run a tank over it.
Wasn't it also called the Bouncing Betty?
Yes on the western front on eastern it was known ad the frog mine
@@austinburras2993 I think it contained 300-350 steel balls. When it exploded, there was 300-350 steel balls flying out in all directions.

I like how he screamed “stop” and nobody listens to him
What sucks about this is you lived to be ridiculed about being that one dude who stepped on the mine.

Hey guys let's run through a mine field!
I WISH TO BE TEXAN. No You Don't and I Am¥
Hmmm, yes. The minefield is made of mines.
This would be awesome for painting ball or airsoft
Plot twist :
The blue ones are from forever single association and the green ones are the couples !
That was groovy in a far out happening kind of way.
Someone knows What's the music at the end of each smithsonian video?. I love it
Help me understand?!
Should have just had them walk through it with out telling them. Would have been funnier.

Ok.......what's your point......?
Is it just me or did a few people in the group not step on a mine, meaning it's possible to run across a minefield by yourself and not die?
Nachode not if you’re clumped up like that
Of course it’s possible, if you are lucky.
They couldn't wait until it stopped raining? Seems like bad sciencing

So pointless? Soldiers don't run in a crowd like that. We're spread out precisely for this reason.

i see their 'military' training paid off with a group mad dash down the path, rather than a spaced single file traverse,,,,,,,,,,,,LOL!
This is why you don't follow the easy routes!!
And.... What’s the point ?
What's what point?
Because it's mine. I don't know about yours.
bouncing betty is a real killer
If you wanna survive that, you need a toyota pick-up and a Chad driver then tell him to run over it in 100km/h speed.
