  • The Caribbean is one of the most popular year-round cruising destinations and for good reason! You're promised breathtaking beaches, delicious cuisine, and fun excursions no matter what region you sail to.
Thankfully, Caribbean cruises are a wonderful vacation for the majority of the year. If, however, you're seeking ideal travel conditions, some times of the year should be avoided, as you do not want to be disappointed once your vacation has started.

Native southerner here, been on 20+ Caribbean cruises on 5 different lines, and I disagree with some of your points. I prefer summer cruises because I like hot weather and seas like bath water. Why sail south if you don't like it hot and humid?Worst and most expensive cruise was at Christmas. Too damn cold and crowded. Spring break is too cold unless you sail to Aruba. Early November is perfect for fewer crowds and warm water. Definitely get travel insurance.

As a Floridian that cruises 6-8 times a year, JAN is the worst month to cruise! (along with Dec, Feb and Mar). I was at CocoCay over NYE last month and the pool was maybe 68F and the ocean was cold too. The air temp was also barely 70F. I was shocked by how many fellow cruises were surprised by the cold weather and that they didn't know cold fronts pass thru the Bahamas frequently. With cruise line private islands being so focused on water activities I was a little bored and went back to the ship early.
I prefer May and the first half of June

Thank you for your comment, I hate a cold beach. I was planning on buying a cruise on January. I will follow your recommendation and I will buy my cruise on May or June next year.

My Disney dream trip was supposed to go to Bermuda , they then sent us to Canada . Big difference , I won’t be booking any cruises in October ever again. That was the last time I’ve seen Disney leaving from NY .

I sailed to the western Caribbean last month; it was beautiful the entire week.

I only travel the Caribbean in April and May. Been there multiple times during these months and have never had a rainy day or bad weather.

You have to pick a cruise line you wish to cruise on. You must do a little homework on the different cruise lines to see which best fits you and your family. If this is your first cruise. I do suggest using a travel agent. Regardless of what people say...VERY ARE THE BEST WAY TO THE FULL AND PROPER EXPERIENCE OF A CRUISE!!

Hurricane season in the Caribbean and Atlantic is technically June through December, slightly different from the wet season. Also lower prices can be found in January, February, and May due to US children and college students in class for most of those months.

I always try to do the research & plan my vacation for the best possible time, but on our cruise to the Eastern Caribbean last month during "dry season" it rained hard almost every single day. Thanks, El Niño! 🙃😅

If you are from a warm climate, just realize that the Caribbean water temps are chilly that time of year.... and have a great time of course

I'm Canadian and I hate strong sun and heat. I see no reason to go south in the summer. I go solo a lot, and have no issues with rough weather and higher seas, so I lean heavily towards repositioning cruises.

Interesting no mention of March... I'm taking my first cruise next month.

March is notoriously known as one of the worst months to cruise. That's spring break month. The most kids and college students cruise March than any other month.

@@reenakemp9132I don’t think the weather is horrible though. Some of us have children so we don’t have any choice but to go when kids can go.

Please don't get my wrong. I wasn't saying the kids are horrible. More the crowds. What I am saying is true though. My kids are out college and we usually took our yearly vacation at spring break so I totally get it.
I assure you though, once they are grown and you and your mate can travel child free, you will definitely notice the months that have more kids cruising.

March anything is bad because of Spring break. Especially in Florida
I've seen hotel and cruise prices double in all of March and the beginning of April
Even more so than July and June
