Hey Buddy's! Could you check out my Buddy's Channel here on TH-cam? I forgot to give him a shout out! He's really been trying to get over 1000 subs and he's very close. His name is Randy and his wife's name is Debbie! The great down home people. "The Collector on the Corner" This is his channel give him a sub, I'd really appreciate it. Catch you on the next video👍
Randy and Debbie are great! I have been sub'd to them for some time. They remind me of what Dan and Dani of DD Speed Shop will be like when they retire. Thanks for posting this Don!
Sure, I'll check them out. If they are friends of yours, they must be good folks. I am slowly getting up there, but it takes time. I have to get back to making more videos.
Hey Don I am really glad to see you I am really sorry to hear about your family member passing I had one too pass anyway my love for 55's I think it's insane one of my sons friends was getting married and she came to their house and saw the car and her future husband did not even know that 55chevy was her all time favorite car's so I had the joy of sharing it with them on their wedding day of course my son was the chauffeur sorry I rattled on so but it is because you have inspired me so I wish I could send you a picture I am always trying to improve it and it doesn't matter how much or how little I look forward to your channel because too me you are top shelf and will always be your friend from Alabama keep family first and take your time
That's very cool Buddy. I certainly know that made your day and hers at the same time. 55 chevys are a timeless design. Tell them I said congrats and wishing them good future together! Later 👍
Hey Bud Glad to see you got the oh motor Cleaned back up, I know that was a Downer for you. But looking good now 👍. Yeah this weather will run us crazy big coat then tee-shirt the next crazy, Have good one Bud 👍✌️
Man I love all your cars I am a big fan of 55s and I love the convertible but that 56 nomad I have to say that is my favorite it's just got that look I'd be happy as could be to own a nomad but to have 4 wow now that's just awesome I bet I'd have a smile from ear to ear.
Hey Don, Crazy how they mounted those fenders on the convertibles, never knew they used rubber bushings for the mounting. The chrome valve covers looks awesome. Weather has been like that here too, up and down. It will be summer before you know it. Have a good one. 👍🏻
Hey Big D, cool video I love the remote oil filter, and the rubber bushings are a great deal anything to prevent squeaking, I have a squeak in the 55 truck that drives me crazy every time I think I find it it comes back, if I have to take that whole truck apart to find it I will , lol, hope you’re having a great spring catch you soon 😀😀
Hey Don even the small steps are progress and when the weather finally changes you can get to the bigger jobs. Looking forward for the nice weather myself here in New Jersey and the swap meets to start again. I may have to bring some things to the basement this weekend to get a little done due to rain expected tomorrow. Stay well.
Yes, the rubber "washers" help. Convertible chassis are challenged by the lack of a roof to stiffen the car. I would hazard that the rubber washers are more of an isolator to stop chatter at the major flex point (firewall to front clip). ✌️
Here is a tip on using epoxy repair method for a sealing surface repair.. We use this on submarine repairs on seawater valves Oring pitted sealing areas.. You need a bit of a rough surface for the epoxy to stick to. If you have a pit use a rotary tool carbide bit to clean dig out the hole leaving an edge to hold the epoxy patch in. You need a sharper edge and not a rounded out over smooth edge. Fill the hole and sand flat to surface finish. Clean area pit with acetone first.
It's interesting to see the bushings on the convertible only. I often wondered why the mount below the radiator is also rubber mounted. Maybe to isolate noise and vibration like the body mounts. Winter is the same in New England, I hear you regarding the weather, Don. Keep at it a little at at tme.
Again a great video! Always learn something from you. Used to be you could get anything you wanted at the parts store, now you have to explain what a small block Chevy is I’ll check out “Collector on the Corner”. Thanks again
Great update Don! Glad to see Dan sent you some chromed originals! I have been shying away from aluminum valve covers as they are tough to keep clean and polished! I bought 2 sets of valve cover gaskets this month for about $15 pr.. I got some cork ones from Summit and some rubber ones from Napa. They are both FelPro and I think they have the dual pattern with the offset bolt holes for the early heads too. I hope it warms up for you soon! Talke care!
Hi Big Don,Great to see you getting a little bit of time to work on the Convertible,no parts availability almost every time with certain parts houses,I guess what can expect with the Build Back Better B.S Propaganda in our Country,Definitely got to do your homework these days before even dig in to try to fix something automotive besides for your home and business,,All a part of the People in charge of America Now!Good video and Keep up after it your going get there 💪🏼🏆
Little cold here in Bucks County,Pennsylvania..37*..never knew there were grommets on the front fender mounts..your convertible is bad a#&.. it’s worth whatever it takes.
Weather has dropped here too! You aint kidding the part stores are crazy anymore. I try to just order stuff anymore unless I am against the wall on something. Smart to leave valves a little loose. Great update. Look forward to the remote oil canister video 😊 have a good one brother
Hey BW! Yeah this weather has been wild. One day in shorts next day in sweats. I finally found my groove on the convertible again. Little victories in such a busy world. Later Buddy 👍
Suppose to start raining at midnight and all day Saturday here. It's nuts, after being clear and cool during the work week. Never fails. Absolutely little victories are what gets a project done. Take care
cars are lookin GOOD,im west of you in mo. got about the same weather, the throttle rod is supper fine thread 1/4 32 i think hardto find die that size, but there out there, hang in there buddy have a good day!!
Interesting Don about those rubber washers and the weather same here too in the 20S after mild days . Hey try Metal Rescue in the gallon jug works pretty good removing rust seen a guy use it on TH-cam works much better then Evaporust.I bought Evaporust recently wasnt impressed.Do you have a hoodbird for the convertible was wondering? Stay warm Spring is close!!
I rarely buy anything from parts stores anymore. I dont even buy oil and filters there anymore. I order filters by the case and get oil 16 bux a gallon off rockauto. Wiper blades too. You will spend 60 bux on wiper blades at a parts store. Same ones on rockauto or Ebay 8 bux
Hey Don, How you doing. I went down to buy a stock Chevy points and coil wire for the 61 Biscayne went to 4 different parts stores and not one of them had what I needed it's so sad you can't even buy something that simple anymore, so I had to order the stuff I needed. I was so pissed. What the hell is wrong with America!!!!!! Later Tony
Just forget about making perfect show cars and make something rougher you can enjoy more and not stress so much !! I hate having a nice car you feel afraid to leave alone in a parking lot vs a rough one etc just my opinion

Hey Big Don. Yeah, It's hard to get back into the swing of things when you see things go backwards. You will get it done Don. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁
Thanks Big Dog! Hope everything is going well for you and your family! I'm waiting for some warmer weather. Later Buddy 👍
Everytime I watch your videos I learn something new Don. Didn't know about the different oiling system on the early small blocks. Good video man.
Hey Gorni! Yeah man the 55 and 56 265 chevy v8s had a oiling system that lubed the lifters off the distributor shaft gallery! Later Buddy
You should soak everything in evapo-rust ! Water pump, oil canister, linkage try it. It works ‼️I’m using it on my 55 Chevy 😃🤙🤙🤙 Aloha from Texas
Yeh Big Don . Started welding first rocker
Nice work man you got it. You make sure the new metal is clean and take your time.

Good progress! The weather will hopefully warm up soon.
Thanks Lee! Yes sir I'm hoping the weather will come around
Everytime you pop the hood on the convertible and I see that red steering shaft... I think about how much detail you have in that car. Great job bud!!
Thanks Chaz! I've been chipping away at it. Trying to have it running and driving by summer. Later Buddy 👍
Rubber washers on convertible clip probably help reduce cowl shake squeaks
Hey Big D, cool video I love the remote oil filter, and the rubber bushings are a great deal anything to prevent squeaking, I have a squeak in the 55 truck that drives me crazy every time I think I find it it comes back, if I have to take that whole truck apart to find it I will , lol, hope you’re having a great spring catch you soon 😀😀
Hey Mike! That sound might be the Glass in the doors and something like that. Rattles sure will drive you nuts. Later Buddy 👍

Glad to see you back in the garage 😊
Great update Don. 55 convertible is coming along great. Little bit at a time gets the job done. Talk to you soon 👍😎✌️
Thanks Kevin! Yeah man I'm just picking away at it. Life is pretty busy anymore but I enjoy my garage time.

Recommend Felpro gaskets over cork or OEM anytime.
