After such a career, he still enjoy to watch and hear the cars by the rails. This is passion, before of anything

These guys had a different dedication than the drivers today. You could have up to 10 drivers killed over a season but none of them hesitated a second when it came to strapping in. They knew that was not even a small possibility but a realistic chance that they would die every time they stepped into the car. After all they were a fuel tank with an F1 engine strapped onto it. But just with Road racers, they love it so much that they couldn't let go.

Mario is one of the BEST drivers because he competed and won in so many different types of race cars. I Met him at his vineyard in Northern California and on the bridge over Laguna Seca track on his last race...RIP Niki Lauda....!!

They say only the good die young, Mario is the exception that proves it. Especially today with the passing of fellow World Champion Nikki Lauda.
Did NBC really need to post this today?

Dale Jr's commentary was most poignant and concise that I've ever heard about his man 'Mario Andretti'. Mario won in everything he ever drove and in doing so is the undisputed greatest race car driver who ever lived. Foyt also took Daytona and LeMans and so he's certainly up there as well. Whatever it was they drove, they just went fast. REAL FAST! Considering the danger in those days, both Andretti and Foyt should have been killed a long time ago but somehow they made it and for that I am so very grateful. Though it may be morbid to some, when I see both of these drivers I do think of those days and how dangerous things were.

He actually won that 1978 Italian GP. But the same mess on the start and on the restart costs him an official victory...

sometimes, racer doesnt need an expensive car to drive outside the track.

@@rehancoffee2265 Yea, looking back that was a dumb comment. Carlos Sainz, the F1 Driver for Ferrari only drives a Golf GTI as his daily driver if I'm not mistaken.
