@Rwssel 2.0. Funny thing. My JW mom said their NWT and KIT were accurate because there were ethnic Greeks who were JWs. I knew that to be bogus reasoning because by the same reasoning, a modern English speaker then is automatically competent in medieval English or Anglo-Saxon! Plus, I've seen a Modern Greek Bible. The first chapter of John alone will show that the Modern Greek translation has different vocabulary and grammar than the 1st century text.

@@rwssel2.052 I agree with you, but what I'm saying is that JWs don't use logic normally over their level of brainwashing. In fact, the brainwashing seems to cancel out a lot of their logic. I'm thankful for those who haven't totally bowed the knee to the Watchtower, but my mon isn't one of them. I'm not Greek, but I took three semesters of Koine in seminary and I used to manage a Christian book store that carried the Bible and New Testaments in over 40 languages. It was there where I got to see a modern Greek Bible, because I was curious how different it would be than Koine.

Great video!! A couple of other examples of material added to the 2013 New World Translation to support Watchtower teachings can be found in Appendix B, starting on page 1765. Under B1, "The Message of the Bible," Watchtower teachings are added and illustrated regarding "1914" and the "Future." Also, under B8, "Temple Built by Solomon," and B9, "World Powers Foretold by Daniel," in a timeline at the top left, it states, "Temple destroyed 607 B.C.E." and "Babylon destroys Jerusalem 607 B.C.E." It's apparent Watchtower uses may subtle ways to insert their beliefs into the scriptures!!

Unfortunately, some JWs are so blinded by what they are being taught, that they can't see the truth, even when its right in front of them. I am an ex JW, I was not born in. I was only in and baptised for 5 years. It was easier for me because even though it seemed like the truth, I remained open minded and was able to see and catch inaccuracies, and things that just plain didn't make sense! My mother on the other hand is completely closed minded when it comes to anything outside the org. I could show her these videos but all she will see is apostates telling lies. She reacted the same way when I showed her proof that the org was being investigated worldwide for 1000s of abuse cases! I wish I could make her see!

Jean Wakefield The NWT is translated from Koine Greek and Hebrew (a small portion of Aramaic).
It was first translated into English. All other language versions are rendered from the English version and are supplemented from the Hebrew and Greek texts.
There is probably no other religious group more capable than the JWs in doing this as they already publish their literature in 190 different languages.

Thankyou Samizon for your clear explanation. Yes I am receiving your posts, and I truly appreciate them. I have a question. I get mixed up with to whom I should direct my prayers. Should I pray to Jehovah, or to Jesus? It seems I am told, that Jesus is Jehovah. Jesus is Jehovah in the old testament, and considering Jehovah's name was never mentioned in the new testament, Jesus is God in the new testament also. I find this very confusing. I love both Jesus and Jehovah, but is there one who's greater than the other?
Also I find the King James version a little hard to grasp with the older style of language. Can you recommend an other version that has more modern language, easy to understand and is as accurately translated to the original manuscripts as possible?
You are correct in saying what the Jehovah Witnesses believe. They say only the 144,000 are permitted to go to heaven and that they serve as the JW's mediator to Jehovah God and not Jesus. But when I ask JW's if they are aware that the 144,000 act as their mediator, they all seem shocked at such a suggestion. I think they genuinely believe Jesus is their mediator, but theres some confusion as to what they think they believe to what the GB wants them to believe. Because they end their prayers in Jesus's name, they believe their prayers have been delivered to Jehovah. Is this correct?
Come the memorial of Jesus's death, I plan on partaking for the first time the emblems that represent his flesh and that of his blood. As JW's with the earthly hope, we have always been denied this privilege, but I now see it's a direct requirement from Jesus that we all partake as it's an appropriate way we can all show our appreciation for the sacrificial death of our sins Jesus had paid for us when he died on a stake/cross. He took our sins upon himself, so that we might gain everlasting life through his own sinless body. The JW's call it a ransom sacrifice paying back what Adam had lost for all mankind. I will do this at home with whoever wants to join me I think.
Please tell me what you think of this idea.

For me it was Colossians 3:13 changing Christ for Jehovah. And Psalms 45:6 changing Gods throne to God being a throne.
JT I woke up 2 years ago and I’m trying to convince my wife that since the NWT has changed things then everything else taught is a lie. So far I’ve convinced her that the governing body are the sheep in wolves clothing but she remains going to the meetings thinking that Jehovah wants her to still learn from him. And she also wants to preach as a JW. She says that she won’t talk about teachings cuz they are obviously lies, so she says she will preach about God and Jesus. But I tell her ultimately they are gonna ask what your religion is and that will ultimately get them involved and then that’s a whole life in your hands… She is still convinced she has to preach and continue going to the meeting just to remain neutral because of the scripture found in Hebrews to continue congregating. Are there any videos you’ve done that could help her officially leave the organization? And is there a video of yours that talks about YOUR beliefs on God and Jesus? That would help greatly. Thank you!

    • @LittleRadicalThinker
      @LittleRadicalThinker 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TheCaledonianBoy I didn’t say it’s about the Bible. It’s about what WT did, their actions. They said Jehovah protects children, but they took absolutely no actions to protect the children from child sex abusers. They said their Bible is the most accurate translation, but they added words to the Bible, effectively altered the original texts. They claimed to be the speaker of God, one and only channel, but they tried so hard to fulfill the false prophet prophecy in the Bible. Like so many things they said this but what they did is the exact opposite. It’s just so mind blowing.

@@LittleRadicalThinker All Bible versions add words, they must in order to make sense in the target language.
The most controversial passage for the NWT is at Col 1: 15-20 where the word "other" is added 5 times.
The only justification for this would be if it was implied in the text. After careful study I found that it is and would challenge anyone on this passage.
In other versions that I compared to the NWT at Col 1 I found a remarkable amount of added words that not implied in the text but get a pass because they support a specific ideology.
I have not read anywhere in WT literature where they claim that the NWT is "the most accurate translation" although others have done so.
However, they do call it an accurate Bible version which I believe it to be.
Professor Jason BeDuhn after being bombarded by his students about certain passages in the NWT that they believed was biased. After a while he decided to take a closer look. He compared 9 of the most popular Bible versions and this was his conclusion
“Most of the differences are due to the greater accuracy of the NW as a literal, conservative translation.” While BeDuhn disagrees with certain renderings of the New World Translation, he says that this version “emerges as the most accurate of the translations compared.” He calls it a “remarkably good” translation.

I know I’m not going to check the Hebrew texts.

All Bible versions add words to the text, they must, even the word "other" in various places, this is a service to the reader.
If the added words make explicit in English what is implied in the Greek then there cannot be an issue.

    Really interesting and Thanks.
The most corrupted I believe is that we have a spirit, a personal part of God’s spirit.
1 Chor 2:11 “For who of men knows the things personal to a man except the man’s spirit which is in him? in the same way nobody knows the things personal to God except God’s Spirit. “
    Act 17:16; 19:21; Romans 1:9; 8:16 and many places.
Think about how important it is to understand that the fruits of the spirit is from you and not something pushed upon you by God.
Or that the hole meaning of 1 Corinthians is that we can understand the depths of God. The chapter also tells us what it is to be spiritual. Look it up in the linear Bible for v. 13. It is our spirit judging Gods spirit. Amazing.

This is not an endorsement for WT, this is just my opinion....The problem with Col 1:16 is that the opposite is true that people take an overly literal approach and conclude that Jesus wasn't created, by assuming that Jesus is excluded from this statement that "all things were created by him". But one has too keep in mind that Jesus is called the "Image" of the invisible God. A reference to man being made in the "image" of the God.
If Jesus is not excluded "from the all things", then you have to then deal with the verse when it says "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible". Well that begs the question then, did Jesus create the "Invisible" God? Since it says he created all things, including things that are invisible? No one would conclude this, so there a massive assumption to say this must mean Jesus is not created.
Paul uses similar reasoning in 1 Corin 15:27-28, but over clarifies to his audience so that they don't take an overly literal understanding, like you might in Colossians: "For he "has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all."

    • @RiskeFactor

I don't think anyone would consider "all things" absolute at Colossians 1:20, unless one would admit that this would include Satan.

    • @chanelrich4188
      @chanelrich4188 6 ปีที่แล้ว

CanadianLoveKnot to Know God aka Yahweh you would have to know Jesus the Son. In reference to Colossians you would need to look at the definitions of the words in scripture. Also knowing that the Greek and Hebrew words once translated to English can have better words to give a better understanding. For example Firstborn in Colossians 1:15 denotes rank. It’s very important when studying the Bible that we ask God to reveal. The Bible is written by men inspired by the Holy SPIRIT. We need the Holy Spirit to understand and reveal. We also need to understand that in translation things / context can get lost. I study other languages and when you sometimes try to translate a language to English some words don’t even translate.

According to the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures Revelation 5:10 reads:
"and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule over[Gk 'epi']the Earth."
Surprisingly, i have come across sites like yours that calls the New World Translation's rendering of the Greek word 'epi' by "over" as a "mistranslation", even calling upon their readers to check that this is so with regard to other translations and Greek Lexicons, though none are cited to justify this criticism!
Following is an e-mail sent in this matter to the owner of one such website:
    "Dear Sir,
We were interested to see that you call the New World Translation's rendering of 'epi' as "over" at Revelation 5:10 as a "mistranslation". Our question is why?
The following translations also translate "epi" here as over:
    • The New Testament in the Language of the People--C.B.Williams
    • The New Testament in Modern Speech--Weymouth
    • The Holy Scriptures, A New Translation from the Original Languages--Darby
    • The Complete Bible in Modern English--Fenton
    • The Holy Bible,A Translation From the Latin Vulgate in the Light of the Hebrew and Greek Originals--Knox
    • The Modern Language Bible-New Berkeley Version
    • The Bible, An American Translation--Goodspeed.
    • The Amplified Bible
    • The Unvarnished New Testament--Gaus.
    • Holy Bible, An American Translation-- W.F.Beck.
    • Compare also Marshall's Interlinear which says under the word 'epi' at Rev.5:10 - "on(?over)"
See also these well known Greek-English Lexicons:
    • A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature by Arndt and Gingrich(p.286)-- b.fig.-a.over of power, authority, control of or over someone or someth.......Rv 5:10. and
    • The New Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament(p.231)--A.with the GENITIVE....
    \d.fig.used of things,affairs persons,which one is set over,over which he exercises power.....Rev.[5].10
    .
Can you still call the New World Translation's rendering here, in all fairness, a "mistranslation"? Are you not being guilty of misleading some of your viewers who will not bother to check up your statements for themselves and just accept what you have alleged? Are we to expect that this 'example' of a "mistranslation" by the New World Translation will now be removed from your video?
When "epi" is used with a verb denoting authority/rulership then "epi" indicates the compass of that authority/rulership. If a search is made of the Greek N.T. where "basileuw[to reign as a king]epi" occurs(as it does in Revelation 5:10)you will be able to see that in every case "epi" means "over", eg., Luke 1:33; Acts7:18.
Interestingly, Micah 4:7LXX contains the same verb "to reign as a king" with the prepositions "epi" and "en" and is translated by Brenton as "and the Lord shall reign over[basileuw epi] them in[en] mount Zion."
Two commentaries that support the rendering of EPI as "over."
    1) Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible of Jamieson, Fausset and Brown:
"...KELLY translates, "reign over the earth" (Greek, "epi tees gees"), which is justified by the Greek (Septuagint, Judges 9:8, Matthew 2:22). The elders, though ruling over the earth, shall not necessarily (according to this passage) remain on the earth...."
Note here that translating EPI at Revelation 5:10 as "over" is "justified by the Greek."
    2) John Wesley's Explanatory Notes on the Whole Bible comments on Revelation 5:10.
"And hast made them - The redeemed. So they speak of themselves also in the third person, out of deep self - abasement. They shall reign over the earth - The new earth: herewith agree the golden crowns of the elders. The reign of the saints in general follows, under the trumpet of the seventh angel; particularly after the first resurrection, as also in eternity, Revelation 1:18; 15:7; 20:4; 22:5; Dan 7:27; Psa 49:14."
Notice "They shall reign over the earth"?
Two recent Bible translations also have "over" for "epi" here at Revelation 5:10.They being the Complete Jewish Bible by David H. Stern(1998) and The Message, The Bible in Contemporary Language (2002)by Eugene H. Peterson. Also, we note that The New Testament, Recovery Version(Revised edition, 1991, Living Stream Ministry)though it has "on the earth" has a footnote that says "Or, over."
One might point to Rev.5:3 and 5.13 where the same Greek words, namely, EPI THS GHS, literally, "on the earth," occur and so this points to the same meaning for EPI in 5.10. However in both these scriptures BASILENW, "to reign," is absent and also in both there are clear expressions that indicate that location is here meant for in both v.3 and v.13there is "But neither(v.3)/And every creature(v.13) in heaven ....nor underneath the earth..." which expressions are absent from v.10 where EPI THS GHS occur. It would be poor exegesis then to simply point out that in verses 3 and 13 of the same chapter that EPI THS GHS occurs and yet place this truth over the more applicable truths as given above. Also, just because GHS, "earth" can refer to a place as well as a group of people(here in Revelation 5.10 to the 'earthly society of humans' whom these kings and priests will rule "over)does not mean that the meaning of "earth" here is ambiguous. The point of vv.9, 10 is not where these "kings" will rule but whom over they will for these "kings" are those who have been "bought...for God" and from "every tribe and tongue and people and nation" and these kings will rule "over" these or the remnants of these. The same thought is given in Revelation 2.26 where we can read "To everyone[Gk; AUTW lit. "him")that conquers and continues to do my work to the end, I will give authority over[Gk; EPI] the nations."-New Revised Standard Version.
Clearly then, those translations that translate EPI as "over" at Revelation 5.10 are the more accurate in conveying the meaning of the original. But I doubt you care

Samizon I don't believe it does change the text because a first century christian would know Jesus is the beginning of God's creation and the firstborn OF creation. Therefore the word other in no way changes the meaning. Unless you want to change how the Apostle John used the word Arche in all his writing and the word Firstborn in the entire biblical database. A trinitarian of course will object to the use of other because it implies Jesus is a created son of God as many scripture support. Including his being a master worker and the one through whom creation came. So while I think perhaps it may have been advantages to still have the brackets, it is not altogether necessary. Another scripture please? yes i did watch it. I gave an answer to a wrong conclusion below to a part

While I would gladly throw WT at the G8 under the bus, and agree with not adding or taking away from scripture, but the reality is that all bibles are of guilty of the same tricks. The key is to know where the problems are. Just comparing the NWT to other bibles is really a waste of time. You have to look at the Hebrew or Greek, and drill down from there. Heb 1:6 the greek word there is proskynéō. The definition says:
4352 proskynéō (from 4314 /prós, "towards" and kyneo, "to kiss") - properly, to kiss the ground when prostrating before a superior; to worship, ready "to fall down/prostrate oneself to adore on one's knees" (DNTT); to "do obeisance"
So WT actually has this one right, and makes sense with scripture, such as Psalms 2:12, which says to "Kiss the son..."
