Nobody questions the metal tin stuck to the wooden cupboard. The magic of the movies.
Very well played Pap. Totally agree re The Stagg Dynamite..spot on.
Many thanks Phil
Canned chillis are great when you can't be arsed to cook. Handy to have a few in the house, Stagg is still the champ of the canned chillis in my humble opinion. Top review Pap
Cheers mate, Stagg is by far my favourite canned one too :)
Hi Papparoni, A top review again on this Chilli product - it does look very nice but looks can be deceptive as we know - I agree with you the Staag Dynamite takes some beating - but a 6 out of 10 is not a bad score for this one stop product ! have a great Friday Mate :-)
Cheers mate, have a wonderful weekend :)
Hi Pappy I had chillie con carne on chips the other day wow it was a winner, great to watch another Pappy review 😊.
Thank you Wayne, indeed on chips is great :)
The Stagg ones always the best.
I'm with that chap.
Like the idea of this with baked potato. (Microwave potato then get real real crispy in the oven). Always looking for ideas of what to have with a pot.
It'd go well with a pot Nigel. You may disagree but I like that cheese and onion ready mixed sandwich filler on a baked pot.
Good review pap totally agree about the price done the same with irish stew in a can not worth it
Don't start me on tinned Irish stew!
My grandfather god rest his soul said that Stagg chilli will always be king out of canned chilli. I mean it looks ok but homemade is miles better! X
Your grandfather was correct Ashleigh :)
@@Papparoni Sure was.
Not too bad then Paps, probably better than I was expecting it to be if i'm honest, however I don't think there's any way it was going to beat Stagg, in which i'm going to have to get re-involved with fairly soon!
Stagg all the way Mr Atkinson ;)
That music! 😍
Should have been more
Magnificent sonata isn't it Val :)
Not sure if they still do it, but Lidl used to stock a huge (800G?) tin of chilli con carne. It had a weird "school dinner" mince taste, absolutely no heat whatsoever, and, for some reason, sweetcorn. I'm going back maybe 20-odd years, here...
This didn't look that good, Papp. And £10 would probably buy the ingredients for 3-4 portions of chilli. Guess there's a market for it, though...
The only things I tend to eat out of a can now are baked beans, mushy peas or pilchards in tomato sauce.✌
Sweetcorn? Not for me Mat!
@@Papparoni Me neither. No idea why it was there.✌
I had the Morrisons savers chilli other day, it was decent enough 👍
Absolutely Sarah, nothing wrong with that :)
SCANdelous' for around £3 more can make fresh and make 5 or 6 times more than that.
Quite right Andy
Nah.. This one isn't Stagg-ering Papp.
Only the price is.
But it would do in any case if you had the hankering for a CCC and the original Stagg wasn't available.
I hope you mopped that pot.
Have a good one John.
Cheers 👍🤤😀
Fully mopped mate, no time for waste here, or indeed at your end ;)
£2-75 is all the money, Stagg is £2-25 in Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's and Tescos own brands are £2-40.
Stagg it is then, thank goodness..
You're quite right Papp!... This One-Stop Chilli Con Carne is way too expensive pal... At £2.75 it's even more expensive than the tins of the branded Chilli Con Carne... Stagg Classic Chili Con Carne 400g... Is priced at £2.25... Princes Chilli Con Carne 392g... Is priced at £2.25... Asda M&S Taste Matched Chilli Con Carne 392g... Is priced at £2.00... And the cheapest is the Asda Just Essentials Chilli Con Carne 392g... That's priced at just £1.85... So they're definitely price gouging here my friend... Pay less and get the best... Stagg Classic Chili Con Carne 400g... It's a no-brainer pal... But i still appreciate the review Papp... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺
Cheers Rick, I must say, you are thorough :) Indeed it's Stagg all the way for now.. :)
@@Papparoni 😂👍
Paps i reckon if you pimp this up with a little beef stock, cumin, chilli flakes, smoked, black pepper, a few pickled jalapenos, a little fresh coriander and spring onions with hot sauce you might have a worthwhile snack with a few tacos and coleslaw 😂🎉🎉
So start again from scratch, possibly a wise move mate!
I remember when canned Chilli used to be around £1.50
Lucky you youngster, I remember it being 30p at one point!
@@Papparoni Lol
As much as I like these tinned chilli products, I am far happier buying the tinned beef madras from asda. Good chunks of beef and a nice rich hot sauce and less money too. For the really good chilli con carney paps, you know the score it's M&S.
Indeed Uncle they are fine foods in those M&S cans :)
Never buy stuff like this anymore. So easy to make at home and far better results.
Quite right jay, and the homemade freezes really well :)
Not a huge fan of canned food. The canned food I have in my pantry tends to be for making something, like tomatoes, chilis, tomato paste, some condensed cream soups, etc.
Those condensed soups are handy things :)
That mince looks like sand
Great comparison!
Who decides what to charge for this stuff? The price bears no relation to the cost od ingredients! ALL of these Chillis con carne in tins/whatever are a complete rip-off! Like most modern ready-prepared foodstuffs. Bur, obviously the better-off or culinarily challenged are happy to pay these extortionate prices! It's crazy, I'll just keep on cooking from scratch. It's healthier and easy!
I bet the major shareholders are happy with the price as it allows them to chlorinate their pools!
That is too much money but as one stop is owned by Tesco they will fleece there customers for all they can get even the leading brand Stagg sells for £2.25 at most places I certainly won't be getting involved with that one.
Being owned by Tesco says a lot Ladd..
Hate canned stuff apart from soup and beans 🫘
Fair enough Ed, even economy beans are good in my opinion :)
£2.75p I think I'll pass
Quite right James
Why do you review cheap crap review proper food
I've done all sorts over the years, lots of premium brands as well as eating out
