What is even funnier is that the TV segment was specifically to showcase some trumpet players, yet Joey stole that spotlight by accident

Saw Joey D at Lafayette College on March 7, 2020, just afore the Covid restrictions kicked in. As a player of keys and woodwinds and brass, I loved his openness to exposing his growing talents in front of all of us.

I brought my my son to see Joey D at William Paterson back in April 2018. My boy was 9 at the time, and afterwards he took a pic with Joey at the CD table. Joey said "this is only for Jordan." I'm so happy we had this opportunity to see him live. I miss him.

I highly recommend "Steve Gadd live at Voce". A great album from 2010 that Joey D plays some great stuff on.

My dream would have been if Joey played with the incomparable Brian Auger, a match made in heaven!

Joey was probably the greatest HAMMOND players ever and he will live on for decades and years to come.
And he could play many other styles as well. And still no one yet that can match his ability.
And yes would always play in the pocket and the groove and not try to upstage someone else.

Maybe you all could have a sweepstakes so that one of us subscribers could win a chance to play that Bosendorfer for 45 min, and have it recorded, so that we could take it home. I mean, how many of us have EVER played a REALLY QUALITY PIANO? (Sorry I couldn't easily add the umlauts on the Bosendorfer (diaresis in English))!
