Lol bruh Aliens vs Yakuza?! Be sure to check us out on Patreon. We're about to upload episodes 53 & 54 reactions! www.patreon.com/weaintseenitreactions
Episode 39 was a great demonstration of character growth and layering in which you didn't need the protagonist to be there to make something happen (again) . Gin even mentioned in like episode 7 that one of Zura's problems is that he can be so stubborn in his principles that he won't always keep an open-mind of the consequences of his actions. But here we see him with a third party (and a love interest no less 🤭) who is able to give him an outsider's perspective of how his Rebel activities really are a danger to the very people he's trying to liberate. This will clearly influence his actions for the future, and how he wants to go about pursuing his ambition of freeing the nation of the Amanto's ruling.
ahhh great reaction (as always) to a good couple of episodes!! I’d been waiting for the Umibouzu arc bc I love that lil insight into Kagura’s character and how she tries so hard to go against her clan’s violent nature and is always afraid of hurting people :’) and her adopted-parent-child relationship with Gintoki is absolutely my favourite relationship in the show! thank you so much for the reaction, have a great week!!
Haha. I'd get used to the switch up, it'll flow more naturally as the series goes but the goofy to dark/serious or heartbreaking formula tends to be a favorite of Sorachi's. For the prior episode, Ikumatsu does return but not for a bit, I believe she has more scenes in the manga but not as many in the anime. You can spot her in the background or in scenes where you see Katsura in certain places though, especially in the openings he's almost always at her Ramen shop! As for the Kagura episodes, this is one of my favorite earlier arcs. It touches up on Kagura and Gintoki's relationship, sets the bounds for it really and introduces a few important plot points ((Mostly in the upcoming episode, but also on the discussion of the Yato's being destructive beasts.)) I always loved how Kagura's dad looks just like a normal dad, although I joked a lot about how he looked like Hitler had fallen on hard times 😂
33:50 Sorachi does that a lot throughout the series and for me, it is another reason why I like Gintama this much (or maybe other works of Sorachi which I haven't watched/read any yet) it may not go the same for everyone but I always was searching for a show that does that... combining action and emotional moments with comedy:>
I think there is something wrong wifb the translation, the subtitle said "commander" despite Okita Sougo is just the "Captain". (The Shinsengumi commander is Kondo)
A little bit historical trivia, Ikumatsu was the spouse of Katsura Kogoro, rl version of Katsura Kotaro (Zura). The rl Ikumatsu was a geisha, not a ramen shop owner :D
Again, it may seem off putting at first, but trust us when we say the comedy and day to day nonsense serves a purpose. Especially when the heavy stuff hits. and that shit hits HARD.
Oooh, if you liked that cute little romantic implication in this episode, just wait til you get to some of the arcs; which include one of the best waifus for our main guy Gintoki. 🤭❤
Unfortunately Gintama is not a serious romantic show lol . You can drop the show whenever you want. Don't mind us we understand. Watch something you truly enjoy it
