Great video man. Seeing the excitement of these guys that are admittedly novices is spectacular. Great guiding on your part getting these guys into fish. Well done!!!!
Good video. I used to live in Reno. Moved to Alaska for 12 yr and now finally back to Wyoming. You’re a pretty good guide to get those guys onto big fish! I’ve read that picking large fish up by tail injures vertebrae.
Nice video!! Brought back memories on my first guide trip. "Did you see your bobber go down" I was like yeah but in reality I was zoning out in 15 degree weather.
Hey! Awesome video! I’m color blind and have a hard time finding indicators that I see well, what indicator are you using? I can actually see it better than anything I’ve used so far!
Looks like fun, I've never been to pyramid lake. Two handed spey for fishing a lake in the wind = genius! What flies did they take this outing? One day I'm going to have to go out and do this.
From a fly angler that dreams of making my first trip there I really enjoyed watching this. I know you asked for suggestions so here’s one. Can you please do a pyramid rigging video on how you rig for yourself and clients? Thanks!!! Best video on your channel so far
Hey man I’m coming to fish pyramid from Alaska can only bring so much.. If I could only bring one or two rods and a box or two of flys what would I need? Coming endish of November
As someone who fished Pyramid for more than 40 years I’d like to offer a few tips. 1. You are on Native American land. Respect it. Tribal Sheriff does not have a sense of humor and will seize all of your equipment. All of it. You can get it back, what’s left of it, at the end of the season. 2. The wind comes up around 4 PM. If you are on a boat get off the lake. My uncle warned a guy going out late. They never found his boat or the bodies. 3. The slot is 19” to 24” for keepers. In my opinion they are the best to eat. Big guys aren’t as tasty. Good for mounting. 4. Enough people leaving trash has closed the north end of the lake which is sad. It’s really cool up there. They filmed “ Abbot & Costello Go to The Moon” up there. And there is a huge geyser we used to warm ourselves up there too. 3. The colder the weather, the better the fishing so be prepared for the cold & wind. Bring something hot to eat & drink. 4. There is a small museum up in Sutcliff. Worth the visit in my opinion.
You are a better man than I haha. I feel like If people are conscious enough to hire a guide they should first hire an instructor to teach them basic casting. It sucks that people assume this responsibility falls on the guide.
Everyone gets skunked once in a while at pyramid Put in time! Just started fishing this season and caught over 50 fish in 10+ times out there 5 10+ lbrs
What type of guide literally posts locations of people’s public waters on TH-cam? The place is already regulated enough, Indians are freaking out about covid, can’t even buy a season pass anymore. Grew up fishing this lake and it’s turned into a Bay Area stock pond.
A guide that makes money guiding on that PRIVATE water after paying for guiding permits and outfitting a business! Just like any shop anywhere advertises on magazines and film tours :) it’s not public water my dude! It’s Tribal land, which is private, which is why you have to buy a tribal permit.
@@TheFlyDudes yeah... every guide on the internet posts locations of PUBLIC accessible water. Please tell me more about the lake I grew up fishing on and maybe why it was closed last spring due to the influx of kooks like you and your out of state clients trashing and capitalizing on it.
@@rustyshackelford5758 It's a mutual business relationship with the tribe that owns the lake buddy. If you have a problem, take it up with the tribe. I get more clients, they sell more licenses. Not my problem you don't like it :)
Its a business for the Tribe as much as it is a conservation effort to bring back Lahontan. If the Tribe didn't want people there, they would close or further limit access. You are really just blowing hard about nothing here. And they aren't Indians.
SET SET SET!!! Makes me wanna drive the 5 hours tonight!
Haha tell me about it!
Great video man. Seeing the excitement of these guys that are admittedly novices is spectacular. Great guiding on your part getting these guys into fish. Well done!!!!
Best fly fishing channel on youtube!
Thanks guys!! Appreciate it!
Bro your positivity and willingness to work with the clients are more than admirable. I just found my guide when I can find the time!
ApprecIate the kind words a ton and looking forward to showing you around out here! Cheers🤙
You are a good guide. Like how you guided him from hook set to landing.
Thanks brother🤟
That intro was some of the best cinematography I've ever seen in my entire life! Holy shit!
Austin that’s high praise! That’s for the kind words👊👊
It’s cool to see somebody so happy about smashing big fish. They’ll remember that day forever...
Absolutely! Just an awesome day for everyone!
I just found this channel and it's one of the best!
Definitely my favorite fishing channel!!
Thanks Zach!!

Thanks for the kind words, and I only hold the smaller fish like that, and avoid it with the big boys!
Yeeeeaaaa buddy! What a session, I’ll have to work on holding those trout more haha
Yeah you better! Hahaha
Also, I am going to get a rod and line like that. We got the same fishing out on the north and South Park reaerviors.
i remember lashing the lake in Feb. in the late 70's...no go, but a good breakfast & Bloody Mary @ Crosby's lodge.
Always great bloody’s there!!
Nice video!! Brought back memories on my first guide trip. "Did you see your bobber go down" I was like yeah but in reality I was zoning out in 15 degree weather.
I've been watching you for a while. This was by far the my favorite video you have produced. Thank you for sharing the experience.

What flies did they take this outing?
One day I'm going to have to go out and do this.
They were mostly on the midge! Size 12 red! And you gotta get out here man! I’d love to show you around
Great video! Just found your channel and it's great. Could you tell me what kind of line your using?
Thanks man! Appreciate it. And we’re using a rio switch chucker out there!
Hahaha duuude- the clients literally screaming had me laughing out loud!
I need to get out there
Hahaha he was stoked!!
It’s amazing how that fishery came back from nothing, amazing… cheers!
Bucket list
It is a pretty incredible place!
“These all point to good conditions” - big reservior fishing loooool

Most guides won’t give that info out, going out for the 1 season out there I can tell what spot they’re fishing from a video/pic (:
How do you tie your rig?
Midge on top leech on bottom?
3 way barrel swivel?
Thank you cuttySlayer
fun clients- like how pumped they were!
Hey bud I want to know how much for a day of learning pyramid. I have all the gear never been there. Two or three guys for a day cost. ?
Hey man I’m coming to fish pyramid from
Alaska can only bring so much.. If I could only bring one or two rods and a box or two of flys what would I need? Coming endish of November
Quick question for you, what weight switch rod are you using?
7wts!
Hard to beat this lake!
Definitely hard to beat that place!
Cool vid. What’s up with the permits now, you can’t beach jump?
Just as far as camping. If you get a fishing permit you can fish all the normal spots
My only complaint is that you let too much time go by between videos. LOL! Nice work as always, keep it up.
Hahaha I’m going to do better I promise! Thanks for the kind words👊
Nice video, looking forward to it. Why is only person fishing?
Awesome fish!
Sheeeesh those were cutthroat?? Stupid big fish man, I gotta get out there someday
Crazy big! Come on out!
What fly line and tip do you use? And what would you recommend for a 6wt Douglas lrs?
I use a rio chucker! I’d throw a 6wt chucker on that rod and you’d be good to go!
@@TheFlyDudes would I need a floating tip ?
@@braapman9879 no the chucker is a floating head. You could put on a MOW tip though for extra distance!
@@TheFlyDudes Would you recommend the light, medium, or heavy mow tip? I have the same rod in 7 wt.
@@tuckergammell9012 with that rod I’d definitely do the light mow tip!
I need to hire ya haha been out 4 times this season and haven't hooked into much hahah
Haha id love to show you around👊

6 wt switch rods! But a lot of people like the 7wts out there!
