    Wouldn't it make sense to show what the dress looks like at the BEGINNING of the video and again while wearing it at the end so viewers can decide if it's something they want to make?

      I don't follow her online, either. You pretty much have to treat You Tube as a separate entity, as many people come across videos here due to searches, not following someone. Sorry - just imho

      She couldn't have shown a finished product. Because if you guys were paying attention, she said 19.5 inches length for the bodice and 47 inches length for the skirt. All totaled for the two piece together would be 66.5 inches for the dress. The average maxi dress is 50 inches from shoulder to hemline or with up to 4 inches more added for taller females or to accommodate heels. Definitely no more than that! The female would have to be an Amazon Woman to have a dress 66.5 inches in length. The first lesson of sewing 'MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE'.

    • @CeeStores
      @CeeStores 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      deechabee I was wondering same. Why would Belly button to heel be 47??
      Anyways, it's an excellent tutorial. Everyone is expected to use their individual measurements and not the one in the video.

    • @shainasir8822
      @shainasir8822 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      deechabee What's wrong in it... 19.5 - 1 inches or 1.5 sewing allowance now its 18 r 17.5 n 2 r 2.5 inches from the 47 of skirt, left length is 45 r 44.5 so the total length will be 62 r 63... mine is the same wid 4 inchs heels n may be U noticed her maxy isn't just floor length its laying on floor.

    • @sharonlatour6230

    I just want to say you are such a brilliant seamstress! I absolutely adore your teaching. You make it very simple and straightforward. I watched a video on how to pattern and make a skater dress and the girl made the top part a little complicated. I wish i would have watched this video first. The part of cutting the slits for the armhole and chest dip (for lack of better words LOL) are genius!! I am part of two amazing sewing groups on Facebook and am going to share your tutorial to them. Thank you again for a spot on, professional tutorial.

    That pattern is EXACTLY what I have been looking for!! I have the same kind of fabric and I wanted it to be a maxi dress. Although I only have 2 yards, so I guess I'll only make 2 sides without panels.
    This was very helpful! Thanks!!

      Since I am guessing that you already made the dress - do you know if she is measuring shoulder to belly button vertically across the chest or straight down length? Looks like she is using her hands to indicate diagonal. Shoulder to Belly Button. Thanks! Already posted above so I better not post again - and will look for answer from someone else who may have asked.

    Thanks for sharing us your beautiful talent the God give you.

    • @ceefree
      @ceefree 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's actually not complicated at all. I was able to follow along pretty easily and I did this after only about a month of learning to sew. Take your time and rewatch the parts the seem a bit confusing; I promise you'll find it way easier than you expected. Also, she does give instructions on how to do your measurements at the beginning, somewhere between the 1-3 minute portion of the video. You'll need to pause the video and write the instructions down. Good luck and I hope you do try it!

    That's what I was thinking .... But when you take the hip measurement then add was it 4inches?? The extra that you add on would include seam allowance for sewing all 4 pieces of the skirt together... So if you only have two then you only have two seams.... So wouldn't the add on inches be reduced??

    Great tutorial! If I want to make this more of an empire waist so it is more of a maternity style dress do you think I would have to change much? It seems like I could maybe just shorten the rectangles used for the bodice and lengthen the skirt to make up the difference. And maybe make it in a knit for some stretch? Your input would be greatly appreciated!

    • @leandrikos1659
      @leandrikos1659 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100% sure as I am only still learning, buy maybe instead of measuring from the bellybutton down, you can measure from the underbust down, and from the shoulder to the underbust instead of from shoulder to bellybutton. And add a elastic at the underbust (or a little below the underbust). But as I said I'm not an expert!

The female would have to be an Amazon Woman to have a dress 66.5 inches . The first lesson of sewing 'MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE'

    Are you measuring shoulder to belly button vertical, straight down length or diagonal? Looks like you are using your hands to indicate diagonal. Shoulder to Belly Button. Thanks!

    Mam,What's the difference between A-line dress & Maxi dress ?

      Priyanka Jain I'm taking it as an A-lined dress may have a tail or train-like feature. while a maxi just falls straight down.

    I enjoyed your tutorial but you didn't hold up the dress so that it can be seen. I was waiting for that..I hit the link but the dress wasn't there.
