    I don't know where you got your information but as a life long Fort Worth resident I can tell you that we do not get four warnings before we get fines. It is actually rare that you will get a warning. I'm 60 years old and have been getting tickets since I was 16 so I do have experience with the process.

      @@jfoster. Why complain that they are doing their job (with pride :-) LOL) I'm 76 years old, born in Texas. If you want to avoid tickets (and be safer, BTW), drive the speed limit or the prevailing speed of the lane you're in. I operate a safety-critical industrial lifting and rigging business; we release or reassign drivers who continue to be a safety risk. I desperately want to avoid being responsible for someone being hurt or killed because I didn't do MY job.

    • @davidphillips8180
      @davidphillips8180 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

      Yes, they may be from a country where the rules are quite strict, but this channel seems a bit tone-deaf in touting their moral high ground at the expense of truth and accuracy. I've never heard of a rule that someone gets 4 warnings before being cited. I think it would be accurate to say that most traffic police write more moving violations than warnings. My wife got a warning one time for going 28 mph in a 20 mph zone, driving into a subdivision (no homes in that segment). She told the cop she had been driving for 15 years and had never gotten a ticket. He checked the record and told her since he found that to be true, he would make an exception that is rare for him.
      By the way, Interstate 35 is Dallas and Fort Worth through Austin and San Antonio, NOWHERE near Houston. Being accurate in your rhetoric and the factual details isn't that difficult if you value good reporting instead of hyperbole.

    I live 20ish minutes west of Fort Worth. Moved here after getting out of the military back in 2012. I noticed driving got so much worse as the thousands and thousands of people moving in from California. I'm not saying it's only Californians, but the Dallas Fort Worth area has grown faster than they can build infrastructure.

    As a Dallas mailman, I've seen people just disregard stop signs and treat them as a yield. When power is out , people don't follow the flashing red rule to treat them as a stop sign. People just go when they want instead of getting in a rhythm. PEOPLE DON'T USE SIGNAL LIGHTS . If they do , it's 3 feet away from their turn or 2 seconds before they merge. People have something in their brain that makes them want to be first in traffic. They'll speed in front of you just to go slower than you . They side eye you when they're wrong. The list goes on

      I live near Keller, in all my years I’ve never seen more road rage and blatant disregard for stop signs, I grew up all over Dallas, DeSoto and Duncanville, and only recall one time being targeted by someone road raging. Get over here thinking Fort Worth was slower paced… NO WAY! I actually hate it here, I’ve been here 5 years due to my husbands job but we are actively looking back in the Southwest Dallas Co. area again. Maybe Grand Prairie, or Mansfield. I like the diversity and easy going attitude, this place is heck!

    I live in Fort Worth and 35 is just never going to be a finished highway. They cannot go a single year it seems without having to "fix" something on the highway that was never messed up in the first place. And the amount of old highway lanes that are perfectly fine but just blocked by barricades exactly like at 1:45 are just astounding. Perfectly good road they won't let us drive on. Edit: it's also messed up how much of the highway is barricaded on both sides so there's not even an emergency shoulder lane a lot of the times for people to pull over to if something happens.

      Some professions have no choice to drive or close. Drivers have a responsibility to drive according to conditions, but TXDot failed to salt that section of the highway - playing a major part and why that particular section was an ice rink in the first place.

    • @rickponsetto3443
      @rickponsetto3443 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      If it's too icy, just stay home. If you have no choice, ice is perfectly safe to drive on if you know ice can be anywhere even if you can't see it, have good tires, drive no faster than 10 - 15mph, and avoid brake usage, other drivers, expressways and hills. We salt in Michigan, but salt is worthless if it's colder than 23F. All of those drivers assumed the conditions were appropriate for their speed and assumed wrong.

      As a 28 year old who grew up in Texas, now lives in the midwest, and have gotten exactly two warnings in my life - both of which were for going way over the posted limit, his comments about speeding warnings being "unconventional" drove me nuts. The first time, I was 17 or 18, honest mistake in a new town. The last one, I was speeding from Iowa to South Dakota and was pushing my 300cc motorcycle as hard as it would go, especially through that clip in Nebraska that is just ugly hell to drive. Came barreling through a small town in SD which was moronic anyway. He clocked me in at 86 or something in a 60 or 65. I told him I had been riding all day and was just pushing my bike and apologized for the blatant stupidity of it all. Cop was very nice, gave me a warning. Now, I don't speed in South Dakota because my warning is way out the window now.

      This is for the guy speaking to the camera about bike life. It's is awesome that you want to give youths better opportunities than the drugs and gang shit, but doing it the way you are is only trading one bad influence for another one that's not a better path in life only a different one that is not only very dangerous, illegal, and not a positive impact in the community. Showing the youths in the group that it is ok to disregard the law by riding dirt bikes on the hiway which is illegal, due to them not having signals, headlights, or plates, and telling the cops to F off when they are trying to do a job, is not being a good role model.
      I started riding dirt bikes at 5 years old. I have done some racing, and continued riding not only dirt bikes, but also street bikes, and still presently ride at the age of 55. Riding your dirt bike on the street is not only unnecessarily dangerous for the ride but also the rest of the community. They also have places to go and should not have to stop and be late cause you have no regard and think you own the street. If you go down and the car behind you can not stop, they have to live with that image of running over you and that's not right.
      Be a better role model and take it to the dirt, not the street.

    As a retired police officer from California, I can attest that CELLPHONES and speed are the two most prolific issues when driving. One day, while following a school bus through a community, the bus stopped and activated its red flashing lights and started to let kids out. As I watched from behind the bus, I saw a black Prius approaching from the opposite direction drive right past the bus that was unloading kids and as she past me, she had her nose buried in her phone. I turned around and conducted a traffic stop. After I asked her why she didn’t stop for the big yellow school bus with the flashing red lights, her first reply was “What school bus?” I told her to look in her mirror and she told me “I didn’t see it.” Needless to say she was cited for the offense. When I asked why she looking at her phone she told me that she was using the “Waze” app looking for a street. Until more stringent penalties are adopted, this problem WILL CONTINUE to cause crashes and unfortunately deaths. As for “no cops around”, you can thank the “defund the police” movement which has decimated many traffic divisions, patrol divisions, detective Bureaus, and many departments. Plus some police department leadership have become more “lenient” (for lack of a better term). Maybe things will finally turn around after January.

      I've been to southern CA a lot before 2020. Most of the time traffic was too heavy to attain the posted speed limit. One of the safe driving tips was violated 100% and that was spacing between yourself and the vehicle ahead. Every time I had 2 second gap it was only a matter of seconds before a CA driver would stuff themselves into the space. Eventually I gave up trying to get a 2 sec gap.
      I-35 in Texas has been a heavy volume + high speed road for years. My first visit was to Austin and our rental car strained to keep up with 80-85 mph and 8 lanes wide in places. This was mid 1980's with 55 speed limit.

    About 10 years ago I worked at a plant and our facility was at a major intersection without a stop light, and I dealt with major wrecks there (a few fatal wrecks who killed a few friends of mine), but I pulled an 18 year old boy out of his car after he was T-boned by someone who wasn't paying attention. I pulled him out in the middle of winter in a snowstorm here near Pittsburgh, I covered him in my jacket, and yelled for people to call 911. Thanks be to God, he lived and recovered, but when I leaned in his car to shut off the engine there was less than 12" between his seat and the center console. I don't care if he knows who I am as I am no hero, it was just comforting to know that that kid made a full recovery. I also yanked a fellow truck driver out of his tractor after he wrecked from having a major heart attack. My friend and I got him out of the tractor and gave him CPR until the ambulance showed up. He had a quadruple bypass, but he's alive to this day. Once again, I'm no hero, just a man who has done his best to look out for others. I would hope that if I had been in the same situation someone would do the same for me.

Houston and Dallas have the most dangerous drivers combined with unintuitive highways in the US, I know people who have died been crippled and lost their legs been paralyzed in car accidents on Dallas’s highways, I-35 San Antonio, Austin, Dallas is the worst with tail gating at over 100+ mph over taking in the slow lane and excessive speeds of 100+ mph, people really don’t give a F**k about other drivers in Texas or Florida, COPS need to do more to curb dangerous driving! They can’t drive here or are deliberately inconsiderate unlike in Germany where people are skilled at high speed driving and only use the outside lane for passing

      Very true. But it's not only the cops. The damn lawyers and the judges are also to blame. Judges are to easy, DA's agree to plea deals in order to get a conviction instead of justice or holding someone responsible for their actions.
      Lawyers are supposed to represent a client to ensure a FAIR trial, not to get them off, and out of taking responsibility for their actions. Our legal system is broken in many ways, and many reasons.

    In Michigan we joke that speed limits are more of a suggestion, but if you're 10 over, it's going to cost a couple hundred and some points on your license when they catch you. 30 over is reckless driving and about half the points you're allowed to have alone. The bigger problem is you might be staying someplace different for a couple days until they get bond sorted out, but you'll get credit for those days if the judge gives you any more jail time.

      @@MakaylaChildress This is not just Texas but for all congested urban highways. The police or HP don't like making traffic stops along crowded interstates. Unless the traffic is moving 7 mph, the squad car and driver are very high risk trying to get back on road without causing a crash. Same for the vehicle that was stopped. I know in TX the state troopers work the less congested highways outside the crowded urban sections.

      Please excuse the rudeness of the little 11year old who replied. To be frank, I have lived in Texas for close to 30 years and can tell you that much of what was stated here was not true. Sensationalism at another level. There are real punishment and fines for speeding and reckless driving. YES, the speed limit is regularly exceeded but things like the car races, biker groups and the complacency of that single police officer are exceptions. NOT the rule. I now understand why other countries have such a distorted view of the USA if this is the kind of documentary they are consistently recieving.
      So to correct a few things, 1) There are no requirements for warnings. An officer may isue a citation on your first offense if he so chooses and usually will. Fines for speeding average about $200 up to 15mph over. More than 20mph over becomes criminal speeding and usually results in an arrest and time in jail, along with an up to $1000 fine and a suspended license. The producers of this film focused on an officer who may have wanted to show that the violence often reported is not necessarily true. Interactions between cops and civilians almost never end up with guns drawn. Rather they are cordial and usually quick. 2) The legal driving age in Texas is 16. Too young in my opinion. As a result you have many young people who feel as if they own the world doing stupid things on our roads. Combine that with thier 100% confidence that they KNOW how to drive, when most don't even know what a standard transmission is or how to parallel park, and you have a recipe for disaster. 3) The weather mos definitely can play a role. Texas residence are ignorant of cold weather conditions since we live in a subtropical/borderline desert climate. When roads freeze up, all bets are off and for the most part mostly everything shuts down till conditions improve.
      All that said , Yes Texas roads are prone to bad accisents. We are a state affected by drvers from Louisianna (worst driving state in the nation) and many undocumented and un licensed drivers from mexico who bring thier driving culrures and practices here with them. Here is more info on speeding from a San Antonio Law group if you are interested.

    3) These motorcyclists out here in GA be tryna share MY fast lane (far left lane) with me, while I’m going 70+ mph. I heard the motorcycle, so I’m looking for it… JUMP SCARE, dude is in in my passenger seat !! IN-between me and the car next to - matching speeds 70+ while our eyes meet. I almost hit the dividing wall, tryna give him more space within MY LANE… No doubt, dude would have died if hadn’t. Very simple solution put speed cameras with $500 dollar fines on I-35 that will slow the traffic and death rate down and provide revenue for Texas highways to add more lanes. When the speed limit is 85mph in some places people will go over 100mph+

      I may be an unfortunate exception, but the traffic cameras are terrible. I've had to go to courts all over the state on 3 separate occasions some years ago when I kept getting tickets in the mail with images attached that isn't me, or my car, or my license plate. Issue was some plate numbers can be mistaken for mine when viewed at some angles and the system mistakenly read the wrong number and tagged me. I've so far been able to get out of every one, but it seemed like it was never going to end for awhile. This has stopped since cameras have been coming down in the state recently. I dread having to deal with all that again.

    As a 4th generation Texan that has lived 99% of my whole life in the Dallas metro area, distracted driving and driving too fast in poor or bad weather are two major issues here. The day that we had the ice issue and those 131 vehicles wreaked, thankfully I was allowed to work from home. I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve heard people from other parts of the country state that Texans don’t know how to drive on ice. They all eat their words after they themselves tried driving on ice and failed by either sliding so badly that is scared them to the point of not wanting to drive on ice here and ending up with a wrecked vehicle. People who are professional drivers that have driven their vehicles or rigs here during one of our ice storms can attest to the fact that the highways and surface roads are not safe to drive on. Rubber tires and ice, particularly black ice, will always be nearly impossible to navigate. As a writer, I can work from home when I need to, but I know not everyone can. I think only first responders or those that work in a hospital/doctor’s office should be allowed to drive in DFW area during icy or sleeting conditions. That would take a large number of vehicles off the roads and highways which should lower the accidents.
    Also, yes as a Texan we have the privilege to carry a concealed weapon, but you do have to go through a process to have a permit to carry a weapon. The problem is that criminals don’t follow the rules.

      As a former New Yorker living in Texas for almost 30 yrs i can attest that Texans do NOT know how to drive in icy conditions. Texans lack the necessary caution needed when those conditions are present. The videos of the pile up prove that with vehicles continuing to crash at full speed long after the initial accident. Other states who are used to icy conditions would have been prepared with things like road de-icing, proper snow tires and or chains and a generally more cautious way af driving. I have witnwssed Texans driving in icy weather and you guys act as if ice doesn't exist. Hence a 131 vehicle pile up. It's true that once on the ice, there is very little anyone can do but a little situational awareness may have gone a long way in that particular situation.

I35 going north to Dallas/Forthworth split into East I35 (Dallas) and West I35 (Fort Worth) later on to merge back to I35 again. The metroplex are high speed of course.
    The other place to worry about traffic accident is Austin, Texas where heavy congestion and traffic happen almost every 2 or 3 hours of the day. So if driver think driving fast is okay in Austin, think again.

    some of the problems of accident control in the USA are the areas targeted. For an instance, speeding is mentioned in this video many times, BUT speeding by itself causes no accidents. It can increase damage and death rates during an accident BUT it wasn't the speed which caused the accident. the driver made some other error. inattention, failure to monitor weather conditions, disregard of increasing traffic, or simply falling asleep at the wheel. Speeding is easy to monitor with outside tools, but driver fatigue, alcohol use, and inattention are not easily monitored from outside the vehicles. Equipment failure also contributes to many accidents, BUT rarely do police stop pleasure vehicles to check for defects. likewise police do not do the alcohol and sobriety check points as they once did very effectively in days past.
