  • More than 700 MTA employees earned six figures in overtime last year, including the LIRR’s top overtime earner, who more than quadrupled her salary with the extra pay, according to a report released.
Record-high overtime costs contributed to a $663 million increase in payroll at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the highest ever and a 9% increase compared with the previous year, according to the report.

Being a transit worker is a hard job. If the pay actually made up for it for a majority of people, they would be doing the job. There are many places where government bleeds way more money and gets a lot less for it.

...... and they want to charge us for "congestion" citing theres not enough money in the MTA!
Also if the problem is vacancies..... hire people to work.
The MTA needs to be abolished n replaced with a new and better agency!!

The only reason I clicked on this is because I was thinking that theres no way they wrote it as $100G instead of $100K right?

Why don't you quote some of those union work rules???? Because they don't exist. When a blizzard rolls in employees days off and vacations are cancelled. They are forced to work extended shifts. The key word being work. We earn that overtime pay out in the freezing cold, shoveling snow and keeping the system going so u people can get to work when it stops snowing. In addition there is overtime for coverage, there are police emergencies, water main breaks, and special events .all capital project overtime such as improvements come from federal money, and let's not forget overtime that is reimburseable funds. Do t be upset that we have a union to protect out rights while all of you went to college and came out to make nothing. You laughed at us when we went Into public service ,but it looks like your crying now.
