buddha said that in every country the dharma would have to be stylised and adapted to make it effective. this was true when it spread to china, tibet and sri lanka. and its true now for europe, the US, s.america, africa too. I like the ole.

Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche gave him the title. Of course the real measure of a teacher is that you find their teachings useful and can work with them.

Analysis and expression of his views about what is essentially male and what is essentially female at the inner and emotional levels & what is gained to the male by receptiveness a female counterpart and vice versa.
At certain points the audience laughs knowingly.
He's highly aware. Awakened. He relates 3 or 4or 5 aspects of each concept explained.
Leave a relationship when the basic physical attraction is gone, always leaving as friends and being mindful afterwards not to

Third, from a Theravedan perspective, to develop oneself is paramount. In Theravedan scripture, Buddha taught qualities of successful relationship are: honesty, self development, patience and sacrifice/generosity. Also taught success if two people have the same faith, same virtue, same generosity and same wisdom. Homosexual relationships can apply these Dhammas.

I had a personal experience with a follower and supposedly close friend of Lama Ole who supported meat eating and abortion, claiming "the bad karma is only with the butcher/doctor". He also had several other habits he defended strongly that went in clear opposition to the essence of the 4 noble truths. I have to admint though, i didn't study the teachings of the diamond way very thoroughly, i consider myself a "free buddhist" who studied "only" the original teachings of the buddha.

Second, the dynamics you are discussing appears to come from Tibetan Buddhism given they are not found in the Theraveda. I found it all very interesting.

how to stop fanatize? i became a fanatic, and want to be normal again.... spaced out fanatic.... every body in Diamond way center says that everything is in Lamas Oles field and believe that Ole like God save everyone, solve all our problems..... what is happening with us? why we are so spaced out? and can not live our lives, only this fanatizm...

Based on this video and a couple of others, I can honestly say that I might find Ajahn Brahm's explanations of Buddhism and life itself better because his lectures are easier to understand, with the stories, jokes, and some words of advice all coupled together. This helps one relate to him better. However, Ole Nydahl is also good, in that he is great at explaining concepts of things.

I'm not certain that you know what you are talking about, boodleboy. I've studied under a number of traditions, and I can assure you that the Diamond Way is as legitimate as any. I will grant you that the Diamond Way is westernized, it is the western face of the Karma Kagyu tradition. Lama Ole was asked by HH the XVI Karmapa to bring the teachings to the west, and explain them in a way we can relate to. He is very careful to separate Tibetan cultural trappings from the essence of the Dharma.

I'm so suffering for dead fear. My life makes me doin' boring, frightenning things
all day, I have to live with ill people together and it makes me miserable.
Please, sent a message I don't mind with whom and I'll feel GRATITUDE FOREVER. THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED.

The Karma Kagyu tradition focuses on the view and nature of mind. Therefore, many 'popular' notions of buddhism don't line up. I have a hunch that you consider the Buddha's "true" teachings to be those within the Hinayana canon. Vajrayana is quite a bit different. Only the southern schools of Buddhism consider vegetarianism a requirement (impossible in Tibet, although I am one). Lama Ole speaks on abortion in the above video on Karma. His thoughts obviously don't line up with your friend's

Many western europeans follow watered down, westernized schools of buddhism like Shambala or the "diamond way". However, they don't really follow the original teachings of the buddha.

@vthoe:Well, vthoe first i'd like to hear from you, what do you consider being modern. Because as i see and almost everybody can see not the economic is on crysis, but the man-women relationship as well. Humanity nowadays in trouble defining what does really mean being male or female. Yes, the world has changed a lot and most of the principle motivations/energies what Ole talks about can be found more and more in both gender. Woman have more male attributes and vica-verse.

@vthoe, part2 :) Until man cannot give birth i think it is better to "stick" to the basic principles. Because those will help you to live a more balanced life as woman or man. Hm?

I must say I disagree with the Lama on this topic. I think these preconcieved principles about what is male and female, is a very anachronistic way of thinking which will only constrain our lives.
