Asides the whole coming from China thing, another easy tell that a product could be questionable is the name of the product. If the names are crazy long and seem to have no real sense to why it's named as such, it's done for the soul purpose of showing up whenever you search a specific term to narrow results down. Typical seller is probably going to be straight to the point when it comes to the name of a product - short and simple.
I've seen fake photos of fursuits on amazon and especially eBay! I've also seen fake photos of dino mask on amazon too! It made me so mad that people are scamming other people for money!😡
I actually bought a Fursuit tail off of Ebay before lol, it was only around £10 - £15 from what I remember, I still have It today and I think it's still good :>
Buying bits and pieces of fur-suits is probably a lot safer than buying a full suit. I bought a raptor mask and painted it and it works pretty well. I still need to find purple fur to make a full suit. But everywhere I look for purple fur it’s like over 1000 dollars for some reason. 😒
@@jittercritter I actually asked my mom to try felt. (She’s helping me make my fur suit) but she refuses because she says I won’t be “happy with how it looks.” 😒 honestly I don’t care if it looks like a professional 1000$ commission fur-suit or not. I would still be proud of it because WE would make it together. 💖 But my mom is a perfectionist.
@@JoltJackelope My family is pretty judgmental abt furries, your mom sounds awesome and I’m so glad you have a bonding opportunity like that!! Good luck on your suit!
Seeing so many old school fursuits on eBay reminds me of a time where I basically knew about every fursuit that had ever been posted online, back in ye olden days when fursuits were harder to make, I used to go through FA’s fursuit tag every day to see what was new lol
i got scammed from someone on ebay before. the bastard put the sticker of Pokemon platinum on a different game cartridge. also it didn't come in the box sealed either.
@@AshCoyote i decided to mention this because that fake platinum cartridge came from china for around 15 bucks. from the same place as those scam suits. and i ended up finding out they've done this scam tactic to other people.
@@AshCoyote it may not be as big of a loss as those that got scammed when trying to get a fur suit. but these people try to entice you with lower than usual prices.
I bought a scam fursuit from China. The picture it shows was a green husky and good quality. The fursuit I got looks 85% the same from the picture and the only 2 things that got me mad is 1: the nose is not in the right spot and 2: the paws and feet paws are lazy made. I don’t hate the fursuit really but still, I do not recommend getting a fursuit from China. I will post a video of how the fursuit looks like.
This is a great video, Ash! I think that there is a great lesson to be taught here about the power of using credit card chargebacks if the merchant won't issue a refund. Often this information is available in the Purchase Protection section of your creditor's website, it may be different based on which one you use. As in my experience counterfeit goods is grounds for a full refund and you don't have to mail the object back. I've only had to do this once when I received counterfeit Magic: the Gathering cards that were listed and sold as real.
A tip for finding scams vs real ones: if the words are just spammed words like "Halloween wolf fox dog chicken mascot party cosplay" or something like that, it is probably a scam suit. Actual fursuit makers know what they are making, so mascot or Halloween or cosplay are not going to be used to describe their fursuits.
Thing is, it's supporting a scam that steals characters and claims you'll get high quality stuff when in reality you'll only get some fake without effort really put into it
I mean, beginner makers such as myself in countries with high exchange rates might sell fursuits for way cheaper than expected? My mini partials are about $500 + shipping and I'd like to think are decent looking and good quality, simply because the profit I make off that is worth a ton more here than in the US or Europe. I've been making suits for about 2 years and raise my prices annually but still, you can definitely get partials for under $1000
Thank you I was planning on getting one of the scams thinking about it now I know it's better to get ahold of a fursuit maker, probably a private on that doesn't have such high demand so it's not so pricey
Hi ash coyote and I heard about furry scam on eBay and I seen the long husky dog fursuit and I know who owned that fursuit in Europe and I know that when some furry sold their fursuit on ebay their the one who scammed
I'm going the self-made route, so I can at least avoid getting scammed for a whole suit. Getting my fabric swatches, however, has been like pulling teeth.
Remember my fellows making it yourself is usually better as you can make it custom fitted with cool stuff like glowdark material or neat patterns or nonitching material so it ain't itching your neck making ya uncomfortable or maybe your allergic to something like polyester and you want an suit that doesn't make your skin bust out in pain or rashes or you might even want an suit that can fit an five foot eleven person just saying you don't want to receive an expensive suit bought off eBay or something and have it rip in pieces when you try to put it on
One time I got one of those silicone latex Dino masks. I skimmed through the reviews and they all seemed positive and only after I bought it I saw the one that said smthn like "DO NOT BUY!!! FAKE LATEX MASK!!!" Anyways I kept it for random tik tok vids.
Suggestion: For the next episode, point out a seller from China who actually mass produces good fursuits. I'd be interested to learn if there is even a single one that is trustworthy.
... 😊 I need to get some Furry Con, but I can't get a fursuit, it'd tare with my transformation. if only they had magic thread, that made it possible to transform into the bigger you, without the mess of having to get more fabric? like on The Rising of the Shield Hero?
I think the first would actually be the fact that they have MORE THAN ONE of the fursuit. A legit fursuit is one of a kind. FYI, there ARE Chinese furries and fursuit makers. Please don't assume Chinese means knockoff. That's just not right.
Yes the first one I have purchased was the yellow and orange one you shown on your video. Yah I'm probably that 9th fool who bought it! It was the male counter part, not even the right colors. But l did a slight refit on the suit. Its o k but still not what I wanted. So dumb me! I seen another on line it shown 12 photos of the suit. I also replied if you were selling a car here in the states and you wanted a Chrysler and thay sent you a Ford you would probably get shot! Thanks we need people like you! This shouldn't happen to anyone else! Keep up the good work!
This my be an unpopular opinion however I am against the stolen character designs but im not against the Chinese fursuit makers If they would make original characters or just take traditional style commissions also advertise honestly about their quality the might be a good option for a younger furry or someone who wants a suit and isnt ready to spend thousands on one yet. although i believe with fursuits you get what you pay for some people might be happier with a cheap Chinese made fursuit than not having a fursuit at all.
What's with the ending, Ash? It's very pushy. Goodbye, GOODBYE!! See? It's very irritating. I feel it should be: I hope you have a good day! Anyways, good video. You are right in that you should check where they are from first. And sometimes the quality may differ but only for those particular peoples who sold them. Sure, people do rip people off and it would be easy to forget those that ripped you off especially in this pandemic. However, if one has been scammed, they should definitely call the FTC, the Federal Trade Commission and they will help those that have been scammed out. So no one should worry about scams.
Especially with so many new furries coming out of places like tiktok, this sounds like information that needs to be spread better. Not sure how.

Counterfeit fur suit names be like: green. purple. Aquamarine. new. furry. mascot. Costume. Fluffy. Fox. Wolf. Hippopotamus.
I used to work for a web shop agency, and we called them "costume titles", because they were just plastered all over costume shops.
