For over 15 years (1994-2008), I have worked among refugees from Angola, DRC, Rwanda and Burundi as an employee for Zambia red cross society/International red Cross Society/International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the UNHCR. I have listened to heartbreaking stories of many people being maimed by land mines, and these stories have never given any good hearing.
I stayed in Angola for over 1 year (2004), and all my movements from one place to another were filled with fear of detonating a land mine and either be found dead, or go home with lost limbs. The demining agencies i interacted with always told challenging stories of painstaking maneuvers to detonate land mines, where they crawl to the mine and defuse it with full knowledge of possible death.
This automated, drone type of landmine detonation would save many lives indeed. Let us give it all our support needed. I urge UNHCR, UNDP, and other world agencies to invest in this technology and help save many lives.
    Greetings from Zambia.

I think No3 the anti mine drone is the best on the list. The US Military Industrial Complex won't like this and could try to close it down. Just a warning, but keep it up guys lives are well worth saving.

The spokeless wheel on the bike with no center hub that tech was invented in the 1920's. People even applied it to things with engines. It was expensive to implement at the time and it was not as reliable and did not do offer in improvement to the OEM or the end customer. It's only claim to fame is novelty. Spokes and a spinning center hub add a lot of stability to wheeled vechiles. If you look at the person riding the bike you will notice they are wobbling all over the place. It is one of those idea's that looks cools but is actually a step backwards! Novel often is not a good thing it is often the reverse of progress! Art is best when novel engineering is best when it is best practice!

I've been using my own type of 'e Stream' for years. It first started as a need for batteryless lighting during an ice storm that brought lots of trees down on the power lines, and was expected to last for from a few days to a possible week. We could use batteries for important things, but all we needed was a little background illumination to keep from tripping over each other. Our water was never at risk, so I tore down an old toy speedboat for it's parts. The propeller went into the cold water stream, and a long shaft cranked a permanent magnet motor that was wired to a few of the most efficient LED's from my bench, (mixed colors, we didn't have beautiful white or bright blue yet!) and had the largest pile of matching capacitors I could stick together for when we had to use the water for 'water' uses. That would give you a few volts for a couple of minutes or so to get things done. Simple and far from elegant, with all kinds of room for improvement.~(!CHEAP!)~ I'm sure something like it could be used to drive a voltage regulator and an inverter to charge your stuff.

Number 5: While Estream charges your phone, a fish grabs the Estream, pulls your phone into the water and swims away while you and your girlfriend are getting frisky inside the tent. Problem solved, no cell phone in the wilderness and NO MORE PHONE CALLS! THE SAD PART, IS THAT PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 30 CANNOT FUNCTION WITHOUT HAVING A CELL PHONE.

Bike #1 over Land mine detection???...I don't think so. I like the underwater drone also but would like it more if no cable was attached. I understand its a prototype and that feature may come out later. The Estream would be nice if you could adapt it to water or wind (maybe even kinetic motion) . I wonder if it can be charged using a solar panel??

These people who are in danger of these landmines are very important, and need to be saved as if they were family, not "people over in ( ) country"....... I know I'd want someone to help my family and my neighbors to feel at ease about walking around their property, and not worry that one of the young ones strayed over where the mines are.

There's something I like about No. 2, but i can't quite put my finger on it.
Regarding No. 2 Part II: . If I do a middle finger gesture at someone on the phone, usually do it AT and like TOWARDS the phone . .In the case of fingertip calling, do I use the opposite hand towards the first hand in order to give the finger? Or do I do just like an air fingering gesture in a neutral direction? . . .

    Regarding the Cyclotron bike:
I want to know why the developers have disabled comments on the Cyclotron video on their own TH-cam channel. I was going to search the comments to see if anyone else noticed what I had observed, and post a comment of my own. I had some interest in this bike, but upon viewing its KickStarter and Indiegogo pages, I noticed a lot of backers were requesting refunds, so that made me wary. As far as what I had observed in the demonstration video, it appears that the rider's pedaling is not a smooth and flowing motion. It almost appears as if he hits spots in the pedaling cycle where there is a significant difference in resistance.
Let's see: a lot of backers are requesting refunds
shipping timeline has been delayed multiple times
comments are disabled on their own video
video appears to illustrate imperfections in the drivetrain
    Nope, I can't trust it!

    Everyone use's that 'Art & Tecnology' - It's either 'A new unity' - or 'A unity of' -
First time I read that quote was mid 1980's - I was studying Design & Print - It was in a very large book about the Bauhaus in Weimar & I believe it was a quote coined by Walter Gropius - ( I was reading up on Herber Bayer ) this term is used so often now - its becoming a cliche !

#1. The underwater drone seems to need to be connected by a line, i.e., it is NOT independent, hence it does NOT possess drone-like characteristics. #2. The mine-busting piece needs editing as what the guy says @ 8:04 and what is on the screen do NOT match. In addition, the little yellow sphere and the subsequent explosions are not related in any way beyond that of perception. This 'slight of hand' does not bode well for at least one investor. Seek NGO validation and money will find you.

The bike is dumb. So it looks cool, but what advantages does it offer? Zero. And you can't put baseball cards into the spokes.
