Lymphatic system. The dog’s Autoimmune system.
The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials. The primary function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body.
Nodes: There are about 600 lymph nodes in the human body. These nodes act as filters for foreign particles and cancer cells. Lymph nodes swell in response to infection, due to a build-up of lymph fluid, bacteria, or other organisms.
Locations of major nodes: Show where located, 5 main joints, thymus gland, spleen, spine. Lymph nodes are just under the skin in the fatty tissue near the flexor sides of joints.
Nodes are expressed as internal pressure changes. Just need to flex and extend to alter pressures. Swing arms, lift knees, roll shoulders, bend from waist. All muscle attachment sites.
Demo: Lymphatic drainage to clear the supraclavicular area:
    1 Begin by standing.
2 Cross your arms on your chest, with your hands resting just below the collarbones.
3 Then simply lift your elbows slowly. The muscle action is as much pressure as is required to prepare the area to flush lymphatic fluid.
    Demo w dog
Show locations of major lymph nodes, 5 main joints, thymus gland, spleen, spine.
    Moving lymph in PetMassage:
    Manual Manipulation:
Lift a limb, turn the head, pull the tail: all manual manipulation
    Rocking
Exercise increases respiration. Diaphragm acts to stimulate the spleen. Diaphragm: lymphatic pump. It the reason you feel so good after exercise.
Scratching-brushing with your fingernails, encourages the flow. Gentle redirecting movement of body water. Like swishing bath tub water.
    Demo: scratching dog.
Brush up over the lymph nodes toward the heart. The joints and muscle attachment sites are stimulated and the body water flows with your hands. You are on the outside, the water is on the inside; yet is moves with your hands. It’s the body’s natural intuitive chase reflex.

Yes, it’s okay. Enhancing the lymphatics supports your dogs autoimmune system. If your dog is fragile, or you’d like to be conservative in your approach, simply brush your dog with light strokes against the lay of the hair working upwards on the insides of the legs, and forwards vet the spine.

I'm so glad I found this video. My dog has fluid build up in its hind legs and they have begun to swell a bit. The Vet believes there is a tumor blocking the the fluid from draining. He doesn't recommend surgery due to her age so I was wondering if there is a massage technique that I could use to help drain this fluid? Thank you so much for any advice you could give.

Sadly she’s now passed away I should have got her acupuncture too because she was soooo old the massage helped but when I stopped the massage for 6 days it got progressively worse! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Silly me with “long Covid brain” not thinking clearly I was thinking it would get better on its own 😭😭😭😭😭 had i got her professional massage & acupuncture in the early stages as in the very first few days that she first fell down our stairs she never would have ended up with secondary lymphoedema that ended up being a lymphoma from a tumour and probably brought on by stress / her stressing out because she wasn’t getting better (she loved being fit and mobile - typical
American staffy even at 14.5 years old and her husband/ love was 9.5 years her junior 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Our plan is to get her back asap in the same breed as her young hubby a South African Mastiff so they can be United again in the flesh this time to have puppies & an even happier unison again as real authentic husband & wife ♥️♥️😍😍

@@thetastewanderer THANKYOU & God bless you! The vets believe it was a tumour in the end causing the secondary lymphoedema so not much really I could have done to help this issue besides major surgery which could have killed her due to her age and the size of her tumour & then being an American 🇺🇸 staffy not enough loose skin to close her open wound post surgery either! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Thankfully, you're not. And don't let anyone shame you for it. I happened to see a comment yesterday somewhere on TH-cam about the frequent corruption of the word, "ironic" and how that dreadful song by Alanis Morissette is largely accountable for the never-ending misuse of the term. I felt vindicated and comforted to know someone else cared about it as much as I.
Alanis Morissette is to the comprehension of irony as Jenny McCarthy is to the understanding of the cause autism.

So I’m a lymphatic massage therapist for humans. Yesterday I decided to work on my dog. He loved it. Well..couple hours later he had massive diarrhea! He didn’t quite make it to the let me know and I had a mess! 3 different areas he had already soiled. All I can think was because I gave him his lymph massage. What do you think? Could this of caused it?

    • @PetMassageAquatics
      @PetMassageAquatics  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for sharing. I’m pleased that you discovered our TH-cam channel.
Interesting. I’ve not heard of dogs having diarrhea after lymphatic work. It unlikely you did deep stripping over his abdomen. Plus it’s difficult to access the spleen. I’d say his discomfort was from something he got into. I’d call it a coincidence.
I’m posting a lot of videos on Instagram now: petmassage_aquatics

It's true, but by the time a dog has cancer, a nice walk can end up being painful and cause more problems... So, this is a more gentle way to achieve the same results...

Would this be appropriate for a dog with IMHA? I’ve noticed some fluid retention on his abdomen near his sheath this go round. We recovered from round one, currently relapsed into round two. I just worry about making him feel worse, even if it’s temporary. We’ve been fighting appetite and lower energy levels until we build our blood back up!

My dog has been diagnosed with SLO a form of lupus that causes his nails to fill with lymphatic fluid and explode ripping the nail off the quick. Now he has also developed a hygroma on his elbow that is filling with fluid. Could encouraging lymph movement help the hygroma drain?

What a great relationship builder it has been! One of my dogs, who has lymphoma, not to mention ADHA, actually comes over, I think when she doesn’t feel well, and asks for a massage!
