D00g's Jam Sessions: Story of the Year - Anthem of Our Dying Day (Guitar Playthrough)

This album, along with a few others, were my introduction to the beautiful symbiosis that occurs when mixing melodic leads and vocals with harsh screams and heavy breakdowns. I had listened to classic rock, country, blues, pop, punk, and metal before that, but I had never heard such a polarizing blend of musical conflict and resolution until I discovered "*core" music. A7X, KSE, Linkin Park, & The Used are some other honorable mentions, these were my gateway to so much heavier music. Sometimes people talk shit about our guilty pleasures, but I refuse to be embarrassed by anything that was a part of my musical journey through life.
To me, these styles of music fully encompass the full spectrum of human emotion, not just the happy, sad, or "angry" parts. Finding ways to blend all types of music genres and soundscapes into a flow of human emotions is/has been the essence and the future of the musical frontier. I've always felt that Metalcore, Punk and heavier brands of music have continuously pushed the boundaries of musical exploration, without regard to popularity, records sales, radio airplay, or music industry trends. (Yes, this album sold TONS of records and airplay, but that's beside the point). Good music lasts forever, regardless of genre. Hopefully someday people will better understand that.
