They did make it to finals at Grand Nationals but I thought the band did much better at Semi Finals. Thanks again!
Hebron is only allowed by the district to go to Grand Nats every 4 years for budgetary reasons. The school district has 4 insanely competitive schools, but overall, Hebron is the most competitive. It's to give other potential bands within the district the opportunity to go as well. My son marched 2019 - 2021 with Hebron. We petitioned for out of district transfer just for the opportunity to march with this program
Hello. I'm from Rockwall, and we are in the same area with Hebron, but we also have to compete with Flowermound and Marcus, who all got 1st, 2nd, 3rd, last year at state. We got 6th last year in area, one away from going to state, was wondering if you could react to one of ours, because i feel like we have a great shot at going to state but the area we are in is just over crowded with great bands. if you decide to watch last years (the one I recommend) use the area finals video because that was the best, you can also find multiple angles if it.
To put it simply, yes. They are the best band to date. But I do have to admit this is not as good as their last years show, “Penstriped”. I will leave the link with you. Feel free to react to it or just watch it on your own. I think you will probably agree. Love your dissection of what you are seeing and hearing. th-cam.com/video/mYI5ZeMujlM/w-d-xo.html
As far as my enjoyment of both, I could have either one, got to see both of these shows live several times, Penstriped I’d say would take the cake for me as well, but in terms of the demand put on every performer in the music they played, this show was able to top even Penstriped for sure. Although for me, I absolutely enjoyed how explosive, deep and powerful their low brass was in Penstriped, just absolutely on a whole other level, tier than anyone else, it’s easy to be off balance with how loud Hebron can be and how loud they were in their very opening hit that year, but when you hear the low brass all on their own, you know why they’re able to push their sound as much as they did that year👀
As someone performing both of these, I can without a doubt say PENstriped was the better show by far. PENstriped was more fun for me, and for my specific drill, PENstriped was barely harder than Odyssey FM. But I say overall the ensemble visual in Odyssey FM is just so much harder than PENstriped’s
One thing that puts PENstriped ahead of OFM is the how the students rose to the challenge of the arrangement. Most great bands uses technique (double/triple tonguing) at the front end of the first tune and the rest is a solid show. PENstriped has the hard technique throughout the entire show, including the end when most chops would be warn out. And do it for Prelims and finals. It’s the most well rounded show I’ve ever seen. They deserved their first place finishes at State both years.
@@eddietucker7005 I appreciate that. I agree with you, even though sadly this year it didn’t roll that way. It wasn’t our best run, but I watched us and Vandy and I think we should’ve taken it. But the judges didn’t think so, so 🤷♂️
