This is how i feel about the direction the game is heading in , i could be wrong and everything could turn out better but if history has taught me anything it's that having faith in neverwinter is not a good thing. Let me know what you think below !

I have heard this is the end -it will be gone in a few years so many times. I don't quite understand what you were saying about it being a retirement home?? There are so many challenges still and when I am waiting for a new module I farm ADs for the new gear. What I don't care for in NW isnt the game play-its the best there is-but the support team there, that ask asinine questions for as long as they can and then may or may not help. It is still fascinating to me and I cant see it going anywhere in the next decade but I could be wrong, though I am usually not.
Here is a crazy idea for you Deca. New server, mod 15. Class balance + bugfixes. I swear it will atract much more players than this current game.
I’d like to agree, and those are good changes, but what turns away new players at this point is:
-Decade old game
-ZERO streaming community
-ZERO PvP community
-Progression grind as a new free to play player is ABYSMAL, potentially taking years to get completely maxed, especially if you can’t find a group to consistently roll with, this realization alone turns many off, especially in an overinflated economic situation right now where people can’t spend money

If people have to convince other players to spend money on the game, it doesn't deserve to keep going. People are going to spend money all by themselves if the game is worth their while and makes spending money actually interesting.

@@GalacticUnderwear And now for the big OOF: I just read that Deca Games mainly develops mobile games and apparently they don't really have a good reputation. Not really trying to be a doomsayer but this doesn't seem like a retirement home but a graveyard for Neverwinter and Deca Games is like a necromancer raising its rotting corpse from the dead so it can torture the survivors.
Not true, if you check DECA games they are massively hiring positions, i might say to be able to deliver a good product. moreover, they took old games and quite revitalized them regarding the DAU count and overall feeling. Im quite positive for a nice, long, enjoyable retirement for Neverwinter

The games got a year or two left in its lifetime. This is definitely the beginning of the end for neverwinter
you might be right. Though I hope you are wrong. What's the point for DECA in acquiring Cryptic's 3 games if there is not at least a mid-term plan to:
- get the code base in control
- keep the game alive until ROI. Now reality may hit them but I am sure they no how small the player community has become. The question simply will be if their plan will financially work with that amount of players (or even less).
If their plan considers more players than today (in fact a reversal of a long year trend) then they must have a vision how they can mobilize them.
But maybe all concerns are valid and the cost model for DECA only works as they will work with developers that work for not even half the money as US developers normally do.
The decline of Neverwinter, in my opinion, started after the Sharandar update. The last great mod though was, my opinions on the faults and combat changes that occurred during this mod aside, was Undermountain.
I LOVED Undermountain. My friend introduced me to Neverwinter in 2019 and we played together with voice chat every night. She said we had to get to level 70 to get to Undermountain and to get the Undermountain weapons (which I still have and I still wore the Undermountain jacket on my Hunter Ranger as glamour). I LOVED the nightly grind and when we arrived to Undermountain I was so immersed in everything about it. Vanrakdoom is my most favorite of all of it. I miss following my friend an our mounts and doing dailies and weeklies and Sybella Legacy quests. The Blood War Milestone was fun too.
We quit right before mod 22 which changed the enchants. We were sick of the major changes, the worst thing they did was the awful combat rework in January 2021.
What this game deserves is to be shut down. What the players deserve is Neverwinter 2.
I've often wondered how games like this exist. Free to play, with no ads, no hidden product placement, etc. The in game currency is most likely the largest source of revenue, which is why I can see how some players may encourage others to buy it. I buy Zen when it goes on sale. I feel I'm getting a good value for my dollar, and since Zen only goes on sale twice a year (I think), I probably toss $320 in the kitty each year. Hardly enough to pay for an hour of the Dev's salary. I think if NW is going to survive, there has to be a lot of things that'll need to happen. 1) Deca will have to throw time, money, and people at it, to fix what's broken. 2) Deca will have to freshen up future content, and try advertising the game. 3) If increasing Zen sales is important, consider making it more affordable, and offering new, and/or limited time offers in the Zen market. Have the consistent staples of course, but rotate comps, mounts, etc. 4) Give long term players a reason to stay. It doesn't hurt to reward loyalty. It let's players know the time they've invested in the game hasn't gone unnoticed. Whether it's an anniversary gift every year, a birthday gift, or even adjusting the rewards earned throughout the year during the various events. End game and long time players don't need the same things that new players do. 5) Players need to be a bit more patient between mods. We've become accustomed to a new mod every six months. We should slow our roll a bit, and perhaps give the devs an extra couple of months to work through things, and give them a chance to create, rather than rinse and repeat. On the Dev's end though, they'll need to create content that will keep us occupied in the mean time. If that means having the base mod, like we have now, and adding in side content that's more challenging, which unlocks once you've completed the campaign, it'll give the sweaty, and ADD folks something to hold their interest. Toss in some worthwhile rewards (I'd recommend consumables like Coal Motes, AD, Zen, Pres Wards, etc.) and I think it would make folks happy. 6) It would be cool if the Devs designed dungeons with "Rotating Bosses". Let's face it, once you've completed a dungeon, and you've comped it repeatedly, you go on autopilot when running other people through it. It starts to lose it's luster. There are typically three bosses in a dungeon, but what if there were nine, and you weren't sure of the combination? Theres a chance to get one of three bosses in each "boss zone", all with slightly different mechanics, and depending on which boss you get, it'll effect the ads getting to the second boss zone, and how the second boss you fight will react. The same would apply to the final boss. For example, boss combo 1A, 2C, 3A, will react differently than combo 1A, 2B, 3A, and so on. Wishful thinking, and long winded, I know, but you asked for our opinion. 🙂

I will continue to play for now, but I don't really buy anything but VIP in the game. I use the exchange to get the zen for that.
I could so easily be a whale, spending countless money, but first, I'd have to see a return on that end, enjoy the game, and it feel productive, but sadly Neverwinter has continued to fail to bring me back.
Their doing minimal effort for maximum profit, and its failing because their not doing enough to keep it afloat. The continued decline and laziness from the studio is a testament to that.
It's sad what their doing because the mechanics i feel are some of the best in any MMO.
The rogue being a prime example which is so fun but the game is lacking the ability to pull me back in.
Oh that's why they haven't shown or said anything about the next mod. 🤔🤨 usually by this time there should already be something about the next mod on the preview server
It died when they changed enchantment system in mod 16 /17 or even ravenloft debarcle a lot quit after ravenloft or even heart of fire. Avernus offically did it for me

Optimistically, I would love to see a revival under Deca and with Brett Norton gone. Realistically, GU, I think you're probably right on all counts
I haven't been keeping up with news in the past week or so. Is Brett leaving? I hope everything goes well. Some people might interpret my realistic perspective as negativity, but that doesn't mean I want the game to fail.
Yeah, Norton's gone soon, Aragon had the news today on his YT. Hoping a new dev team can get a fire lit under the thing again but there's years of damage done to the player base to undo/overcome. I didn't think you were being negative at all, just realistic, as you say. :)

I never played D&D but I've enjoyed Neverwinter. Been playing almost every night for a year. I'll play right up to the bitter end. I'll be sorry to see it go.

Looks like the retirement home. I feel like it was just enough hype to bring the value up enough to sell. Now they will just try to squeeze as much blood out of a stone as possible out of there purchase. So with the leaks about the next console's release withing the next 5 years should of gave everyone the insight to see how much time is left on the clock for many games... Also the time frame these releases we want now are aiming for that's my guess. Helldiving for now!

My thoughts. *deep sigh* I have played this game since the February before the 5th JuIbilee. So... 6 years? Or 7? I can't math. Anyway, it's been a minute. I have not found another game that I like playing as much. I got sucked in BECAUSE it was free to play. I have put real money into the game to keep my VIP up to date, but not much. I can't afford to single handedly keep this game this game afloat. I love it, but I understand that all things end eventually, and that Neverwinter is winding down. I don't know what I will do when it's gone or where I will go or what I will play and that is causing me some anxiety and it is making me sad. But it is what it is.

The only problem is that Zens are worthless, they lost their value a long time ago, and the Zen store is a ghost town filled with shit and outdated items. When I go there, I feel like someone punched me in the face. I bought about 500 zen 8 years ago only once and I'm proud of it that I didn't give my money to these losers again.

Deca Games were bought out a couple of years ago. They went and bought more titles/games and massively increased its employee base.
Will Neverwinter last forever, lol, no.

Done with NW. Spent my money on dragons dogma 2. I made my choice.
Have not logged in since vip expired and i used all my keys. So game is in limbo now.

It be great if they went back to having your characters be ridiculously strong if they're built good. And for the love of God, can they quit with the scaling bs 💩 I don't mind a little bit of scaling, but no way an 80k player should be getting killed in a level 1 dungeon.

For me what annoyed me most about the game until I stopped playing was the constant power creep. Instead of gear that was useful in its own situation there was mostly just one exact BIS item. Especially as a F2P player if you wanted this equipment, you'd have to grind for sooo long, which was just not worth it anymore for me at some point.
I still love the game even though i didn't have time to play for 4 years. I dont mind paying actually cos its mot asbbad as the charges that big games like COD , LOL or Diable would charge and the game itself seems endless. Would be nice to have better events tho, but cant argue about the bugs, would miss the game if it closed down 😢

Hard to say how things will change, I tend to hope for the best . There is a neverwinter saying "No hope, No hope" from some NPC's. I also think Deca Games is probably Neverwinter's last hope.

Cryptic itself is what ruins the game. There is no problem with the mechanics or graphics of the game.
Prob will last till they done w what they made already mod what 29 30 then when nothing to kick out prob will be up to deca to do what ever they do with old games

@@anjicat3211 to be fully honest, I haven't played in the past couple of years.
I started in the second closed beta and had a blast back then, but, over the years, they stripped and bare bonned the game so much it's just not the same and has no way to keep me interested. Disappointment after disappointment, with no consistent content after running through new mods for a few weeks.

Maybe there’s one or two more boring mods in the tank already but don’t think it will go beyond that. Daybreak will probably keep it on life support to milk whatever money they can from the die hards. It had a good run but time to move on.

No clue if it will shut down soon, but i feel like time is ticking! in reality it can stay online for years and years! just depends what they do
Have played it since 2016, save for 2 years...lack of content for a veteran is tragic...rewards for dungeons runs are lame...not too many players...players way too powerful...for me I started at Storm King...the heydays was the Omu expansion...with the massive economy that grew around the hunts and awesome settings...the end truly came with Acquisition inc. they killed the game and lost a big chunk of their traditional crowd....it was too big a nerf...crappy stupid humor and fishing for $ with a useless and offensive reinvention of what was a perfectly fine profession system...everything after that is just a continuation of its fall....too easy...not enough to do!
I think they are making money(but is it enough?) the game is just on life support though. They don't have the talent to fix it, i quit a while back, the community is as bad as the developers. Americans are non existent. I think free to play games cycles are all going to come to an end, people are tired of them.

Remind me again in 5 years, when you gonna make a new video about the same topic. It's getting old at this rate, really. There was big layoff for a lot of (much, much bigger than NW game companies), and they are doing just fine, as is. When Bioware announced they are leaving SWTOR, everyone like you doomed and gloomed the game, and it turns out the game is doing just fine now (6 months later). Same goes for LoTRO, the finger of doom was there and everyone was pointing out "THE dead of the game".
You guys are laughing stock, really. I don't understand your point. The only impression I got is you want this game to be dead already, like it shouldn't exist, and it bothers you... a lot. Every video your make is a mockery and nothing else. Instead of being postive and bringing much hope, and stay like a "pro", you behave like a spoiled child who didn't get their candies on time.

I shared my opinion based on what I've observed. The reason you might think I'm mocking Neverwinter is because you, like many others, seem to only want positivity 24/7, even when there are valid reasons not to be positive. Apparently, pointing out actual facts about the game is considered mocking it.
Frankly, I think your words and train of thought are as messed up as Neverwinter's class balancing. The real laughing stock here is those who are blind to what's happening around them. It's those who choose to ignore and turn a blind eye just to feel better about the game or themselves.

Guess I am the ride till ya die type of cicka. I Mean yeah it would be great if they came in and brought it back from the semi dead state its in,, But yeah doubtfull that would happed. I would be more optimistic that they would scrap it and start a new. With that being said... I guess we will see and I will pray that all my hard work and LOVE for the game and more so the people in will continue on and end in that happy wishful state we all desire..
