I just got one myself. An antique finish with a Howell .45 conversion cylinder. It'll shoot high because it's sighted in at 75 yards at the factory. I got it for my nightstand. Very little recoil. The thing weighs almost five pounds.
I need to let you know that loading lever falling down on those models can be fixed with a simple item. You know those pocket clips on a pin light that just snaps or clips on well I have made pieces like that for the barrel and a c clip that will clip the loading lever shaped like a letter C with a small thumb tab to unclip and rotate it out of the way and its made out of the same type of material that the pocket clips has just with a extra shape C with thumb tab to press over and unlatch loading lever. Simple idea and works great for those colt's with out front latching. Those rear latches don't always work and end up jamming the cylinder with the push rod for loading the bullet in the cylinder.
I noticed you compared it to your 45-70 revolver. Essentially, the Colt Walker was the same thing (a 45-60). The 60 grains of powder is nothing to laugh at. I would like to pick one up one day, but I just bought a Uberti Pocket Police Model
Having difficulty breaking down a Walker Colt, specifically separating the barrel from the body of the pistol..after removing the wedge the barrel is almost impossible to detach and free up the cylinder for removal..Has anyone else experienced this and is there something that could help to alleviate this apparent binding of the barrel.. thanks in advance.
I know this is old, but maybe my comment may help someone else. What I do if it is stuck, is that I half cock so the cylinder can spin freely, and then I turn the cylinder to where the ram rod is situated to where it is in the space in between the chambers. I then use the ram rod/loading lever as leverage, pressing down to remove the barrel. Worked every single time for me.
Super cool thanks
