Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma TH-cam channel! Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. On this channel you can catch us doing travel and adventure vlogs, challenges, our inclusion series, couple first times, music, and so much more! We started this vlog to bring people into our lives, to answer some questions about how we navigate the world, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. @Whitley Whitley Sending healing ❤️🩹 love and prayers for your baby girl. ❤️🩹 I know this must be really difficult 😣 for you both. Kids are so resilient. My own son has inherited a genetic condition that I didn’t know I had 😞 which has left my child severely disabled since birth. Around the same age as your Daughter, my son started needing a wheelchair and we worried about how he’d cope. He’s used a major buggy until age 5 but then he loved being able to run around. He was ace though. He handled it like a champ. I think at that age, they just deal with whatever comes their way. Usually kids that age are very accepting of any little differences too.
I know as a Mummy, this will be really tough on you, the hardest part is, keeping positive for your child. We learn to save our tears until night time in the pillow. 💕 We have seen so many children during his lifetime of hospital admissions, and the world is still your little lady’s oyster 💕 I ❤️ that nowadays TV/movie companies are inclusive of actors with disabilities, so we are seeing so many more disabled actors making it. There’s an actress here, who shares my genetic condition and they have written it into the story line in one of the big soaps. So your little girl is going to do absolutely amazing, I promise. Maybe showing her some of the amazing Paralympian stars too! In life, this won’t hold her back. I know initially it could be really rough as she adapts, so for this time, please accept my prayers. ❤️🙏🏻♥️

I’m so sorry your daughter has to go through that kind of trauma-and you’re going through a different kind of trauma too🙁 I think watching Cole could really help you both. He’s a truly inspirational guy who refuses to accept any limitations at all-he, and Charisma, just find a way to manoeuvre around possible limitations and your daughter will absolutely do the same thing, with yours and the hospitals help. Sending you very many healing thoughts x

Being in CA, with possible earthquakes at any time, you might want to consider an apartment on a lower level. You won't be able to rely on elevators and lifts if power goes out.

And to add to this quandary, lower levels tend to get crushed. I've seen upper floors remain intact, just much lower down since the lower floors got crushed.
@@maf4597 I've lived in CA for over 40 years. This is not a common concern at all. Building collapses these days are extremely rare, especially in newer builds plus majors earthquakes happen once a decade if that. Other cities have major storms several times a year. For CA, In certain areas, seasonal wild fires are a more pressing concern.
Make sure living in LA is still a good place for actors. So much filming has moved out of the state of California because they can get good tax breaks elsewhere. Georgia has become "Hollywood East" and so many tv series film in Vancouver.
With Universal Studios and Paramount it’s a great place for actors to live.
It's very difficult to break into Hollywood outside LA. You still have to put in the time there.

Everything in Los Angeles is expensive and it depends on location of the apartment or house and some parts of LA is beautiful, and I'm glad that you guys had a great time!

me too unless it makes him feel like that every time! some actors and singers feel that way just before going on stage or before performing every time they just learn to deal with it, but i would hate that wouldn't you?

Love you guys! Cole, lots of my friends are actors, and they say therapy is the key! You are not alone. Everyone gets nervous no matter how seasoned they are! If you guys are considering LA because of Cole’s interest in acting, I’d scope out Atlanta! I live in Atlanta and work in the industry here. They are filming like crazy here!
You’re right! I live in Atlanta and my sister works on tv/movies here. She’s a writer but works as assistant in accounting. She’s also developing her own production company. Filming is sick here! Like you said a lot of filming here!

Yeah, as much as I love these two, I don’t get it. I hope Cole does get into acting but this seems like putting the cart before the horse. Also they just had the beautiful home redone that their families put so much work into. Plus it’s better for a dog. Their lives though obviously.

They said they are not getting rid of their home. Gone for a year and if it dont work out they are coming back home.
I liked apartment #1.. it was quite spacious and allowed for Cole to move around freely which I know is very important. It was very airy, and bright for vlogs, the topper washer and dryer was more accessible for Cole, and there was an extra bedroom. Good luck apartment hunting!
I’ve lived in Glendale for almost 2 years and I’ve been a property manager all over Southern California for over 10 years. The rents in Glendale are some of the least expensive l know of so I definitely recommend the area

If you have to use lifts during a Emergency, that is ((NOT)) a good idea in evacuation of a building ((Think carefully)) are there ((Sprinklers)) in the unit when you ((first walk in)) & ((A Fire extinguisher)), those are the ((first two things)) you need to Check first on your safety list, when you first walk into a unit, if they aren't there , then they are not thinking ((FIRE SAFETY)).
I agree with you Cole that lift was scary at the third apartment .

I like the first the best. Of course, as a Mother, I got to think about how much it costs, what the deposit is, how long the lease is for, which floor would you be on (people above you can make lots of noise), parking spaces, crime levels. How far will you be from your families? You may really miss them. Have you checked out renting a house instead of apartment?
They live in a house now and Cole said he hasn't experienced living in an apartment except for dorm. They may live a different lifestyle in Ca which will only call for apartment space not house space. Idk if that makes any sense. They can always rent the house out while they live on Ca. We shall see😊

That's the good thing about California, the homes and apts are very spacious especially in Alameda county and Santa Barbara County. Stay safe and enjoy.

I was born and raised in LA and I just loved you guys with the country life I don't know why you would want to come to a busy City like this with earthquakes ECT. I know nothing about any other places but here, so I just wouldn't know how to not live here even though I would love to move, I know that sounds crazy, but it's all I've known my whole life, and I admire people so much who have a lot of land to live on and the country life seems so beautiful
I agree with your assessment. I was born and raised in LA as well. This place has drastically changed over the years. And, I fear it isn’t for the better. I feel the sense that locust have overtaken this place and the result is not attractive. I used to LOVE this City, but, not a fan anymore. My only tether to this place is my family and rental property, which I owned before the madness. I really hate shedding such a dark cloud, but your post really hit home. BTW, several of family members and friends feel the same.

I get what you're saying, I truly do. I've lived in the SGV my whole life (39 years) and have seen the ups and downs. I would never move to LA (the city), because I don't like city life. I like smaller cities or ones that are more suburban. I live near Pasadena, which is giant, but not like LA. Honestly, they might do well out here, where it's kinda in the middle. They could also move to mid-Cali, where there's a whole lotta nothing between cities. If you travel outside of SoCal, there are lots of smaller cities/towns that are quieter and less hustle and bustle. Solvang is kinda adorable.

Welcome to CA! You chose a great area - Glendale has been making so many improvements over the past few years. You MUST try Porto’s on Brand Bl - get the potato balls, empanadas & any of the pastries! I live just over the hill in North Glendale/La Crescenta. I really liked apartment #1, but #4 won me over with that outdoor space!
Think long and hard about moving to California. And for an acting career?! You have a nice home in VA with family nearby. That is so important. Hope you reconsider.

Thank you for taking us Apartment shopping with you. ❤️❤️❤️. I prefer #4, if the tour guide will make the adjustments suited to your needs. Since it comes unfurnished, you will be able to furnish as you see fit, and those big closets are a plus. The big balcony is also lovely.

As a Midwest transplant living in Southern California, you will miss the genuine people from your hometown. And that real estate agent can’t do a thing about that apartment. It is the property manager and/or owner. It will be great for a while. But everything is so much more expensive here.
I think the only genuine people are from the Midwest. I'm live in the South and they're hypocritical with a smile.

Hi! Did you seek out realtors who could help pick out accessible places for you? My hubby recently got injured and will be in a chair for the remainder of the year. That definitely limited the number of condos we could look at because we learned that most places in the OC and Long Beach part of LA aren’t accessible

OMG, the only and I mean ONLY good reason to move to L.A. is if you are serious about being a professional actor and it would be hard to fit many rolls. I had to live there for ten years because of my job. I lived in Century City and it took me an entire hour in traffic from there to Beverly Hills (like a couple miles) Definitely not worth leaving your entire family for.
😆 the woes of traffic life in LA. You get used to it. I've lived here my whole life (39 years) and traffic is simply part of the culture, unfortunately. Also, Century City tends to be a bad area. Then again, that's how most areas are turning out, sadly.
If you ever need to be out here again and you notice that traffic is bad, look for alternate surface street routes. Google Maps usually has a couple more options other than the freeway route. If you've got the dough and you live in LA (the actual city) or the surrounding areas, there are toll roads that'll make the trip faster. A friend of mine took one a decade ago when we were going to a theme park. The ride was so quick and smooth.
There r always ways to get around this city. I would never put myself in position that would take me an hour from Century City to BH. Too many surface street than could take u there in less than have the time.
I also forgot to mention timing. If you get off work just before or during rush hour (though more like 2-3 hours), if you have the time, find something to do for an hour or two. Like get dinner or go shopping in the area. The traffic won't usually be as bad if you wait awhile. Traffic is always better on the weekends, though.

The last one! Youre in Cali.. that outdoor space to enjoy the california weather and to have your garden. Or for entertaining..itd be amazing. Really liked the apartment it is very spacious and nice too! Good luck!

The apartments are nice but what will happen if there is an emergency and he cannot use the elevator?
Being in a powerchair myself, I liked 4 the best. Hopefully they apt complex will work with you. One thing to consider too- get something in the ground floor- what will you do if the elevator goes out and you have to exit fast? Having stack washer n dryer is great feature. LOVED the balcony on 4 ...sooo- which one did you go with????
Seemed like the open patio on 4 was amazing. A ground floor apartment might be best... you could find a bona fide patio or garden that way.
So the first one is more practical but the last one is true California living. It’s beautiful
I don't even want to know what places like that cost in CA!!! The last two places in the U.S.A. in which I would ever want to live are NYC or anywhere in California!!! Too expensive for me!!! But, those places look nice!!!

Number one was my favorite, although the huge balcony on number four was amazing! Depends on how much it would realistically get used though. Tough choice, but at least they look like great options!

This is so fun! I liked the look of 1 But for Cole I preferred the shower of the second scheduled apartment. The outdoor space for the last apartment was appealing though. Each one had some good qualities so it just depends on what your priorities are.

Good Lord…Cole and Charisma are only asking our thoughts on the apartment options. They are not soliciting your advice as to whether or not they should move to LA/California. They are both intelligent adults who can make their own decisions. 👍

The cost of housing and living here in general is so so expensive. The housing market is off the hook. I would stay where you are. If I could, I would leave California.

@AnGi I’ve seen people with an avg. 25k views with big houses and BMWs. It’s not just TH-cam but sponsorships that will pay 5k-20k at their size. Plus they do speaking engagements and merch.

Hey Y'all, as a native californian and one still living here, please, re-consider moving to California. Weather is great, the rest is in pretty bad shape. Nice to read that the move isnt a 'for sure', please think about it....HARD!

Being from SoCal I can wholeheartedly agree with this. So many moving out. La isn’t what it seems.
I disagree. As a Cali Native, LA has a lot of nice areas and places to live. Los Angeles is a huge county with different areas that offer different lifestyles. Pasadena is a nice city and is huge. I love LA, and I've been to other states.
@@Tula_Darkwater yes but nice parts of la are very expensive. Like historic Pasadena is very pricey, and then you have parts of south pass that you don’t even want to walk through. And that goes for every city in Los Angeles. I’ve lived in la for over 30 years. Even where I live, top of the hill with only houses around no apartments in my neighborhood and it’s $1m plus here. But we have black and white helicopters flying almost every day here.
I live in Cali near Knott’s Berry Farm (in Orange County). It’s pricey almost everywhere except the Inland Empire but u have to deal with heat and having to drive to get to places. And LA is not a good place to live, only visit just to be honest

I’ve never seen so many passive aggressive comments on their videos before. Let them live their lives anywhere you live in this world there will always be pros and cons if this is truly Cole’s, dream let him live his life he’s been shackle down enough, because of his unfortunate accident let him spread he’s wings Charisma & Cole are not little children they are more than capable of making adult decisions for themselves. I know everyone has their best interest at heart, but the decision is ultimately up to them. Let’s try to be a little more encouraging & less negative.
Willingness to work with you on mods shouldn't be underestimated, but do get it in writing, for your protection. I liked the place that was interested in accessibility and would certainly choose that over 'I gotta ask the owner" if you can remove a door or that rickety elevator. lol For that reason, see what you can work out with #4.

Love it love it!. My favorite was the 1st apartment. Layout was great. Cole, you sounded just like Charisma when you said "we're backk!" lol it was adorable you're too cute.

I hope for both of you your dreams can come true. However, my concern is how will Cole be able to escape should there be an Earthquake, fire, or any other emergency? As a mom, I can't help but think "safety first." If that part is worked out in your choice, then by all means go for it and enjoy every day in the never-ending sunshine.

That’s a really good point. Anytime I’ve been in a building with elevators and the fire alarm goes off, the elevators are turned off as well and you can only get out through the stairs. So I wonder how that works for disabled people. There must be a way

LOL… fires are only in the wild and far from the city. Apartments in CA have to be built up to code and you are not supposed to run when there is an earthquake.

I liked #4 the best. The huge balcony with such a wonderful view and the large living/dining room is what sold me. 👌
