It's amazing how serious and dry Rowan Atkinson is when he's not playing a character. He's not a "joke" comedian, or even a "story" comedian, he's a smart character actor.
A surprising proportion of very ‘funny’ actors/performers are actually quite shy in person, they ‘inhabit’ their personas or the characters they portray but aren’t naturally funny people. Eg Eric Morecambe, Ronnie Barker, Miranda Hart, etc. Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel would be classic examples.
Rowan Atkinson's transformation of his face when he gets into character and does the voice when he reads his lines is amazing. He looks almost like a human tortoise.

He has no sense of humor himself. He has stated however that he's not proud of the fact that he lacks a sense of humor... It's just who he is. I love him regardless. He enjoys making others laugh even if he lacks a sense of humor himself and that's fine. He's still brilliant!

I could literally imagine an old man reading his will. He's so into the character you forget he's acting.
