    It's amazing how serious and dry Rowan Atkinson is when he's not playing a character. He's not a "joke" comedian, or even a "story" comedian, he's a smart character actor.

      He spends a lot of time analysing every aspect of his sketches, deciding what is funny, how he can make it funnier etc.

      A surprising proportion of very ‘funny’ actors/performers are actually quite shy in person, they ‘inhabit’ their personas or the characters they portray but aren’t naturally funny people. Eg Eric Morecambe, Ronnie Barker, Miranda Hart, etc. Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel would be classic examples.

      If you listen to his interviews, he has explained SEVERAL TIMES over the years that he actually (ironically) has no sense of humor at all. He rarely laughs at anything. He's a more serious person. I know that sounds strange coming from him but that's who he is and he's very honest about it, so keeping a straight face during these skits is very easy for him. It's just a performance for him. He has no sense of humor himself. He has stated however that he's not proud of the fact that he lacks a sense of humor... It's just who he is. I love him regardless. He enjoys making others laugh even if he lacks a sense of humor himself and that's fine. He's still brilliant!

    • @SkyeMpuremagic
      @SkyeMpuremagic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fairplayer7435He prefers PEACE over attention and finds social media to have too many trolls and needles conflicts. Squabblings. He's actually a much more serious person than most people realize. He prefers solitude. He likes cars (even enjoys a bit of racing from time to time). Reading. His own company mostly and that of close friends. He has no real sense of humor (ironically) and has stated this several times within interviews, although he's not proud of that fact, it's just who he is. Hard to make him laugh, that's why he never falls out of character. I am an avid fan. That's how I know these things of him. If you watch a few of his interviews you'll see how he is as a person in real life.

      I never had any kids. If any of my nieces or nephews (18 of 'em at last count) would bother to send me a Christmas card once a year and maybe visit once every 2 years, I'd leave everything to them.
      As it is, I'm redoing all those boring will and beneficiary things (about every 20 years I do this), and about $500,000, my total estate, will be going to my local village for a park, commemorating my Uncle Bill killed in WW II.

    This bit about being mentioned in a will I've heard before from Henny Youngman: (from his 1998 obituary in time magazine) At 85, the machine gun was still going strong. For his last birthday, Youngman gathered some reporters for a reading of his "Last Will and Testament": "To my nephew Irving, who still keeps asking me to mention him in my will: 'Hello, Irving!'"

      That's a very old joke going back to at least the 60s when it made an appearance on a Jewish-themed comedy album, either "You Dont Have to Be Jewish" or "When You're in Love the Whole Word is Jewish", I don't recall which. I do remember that Lou Jacobi is the one who reads the will.

    Not sure if this is right but couldn't resist:
    We are here to read the last will and testament of Franklin St Xavier Millards (?). To my nephew, Ralph - the most bone idle lentitudinous little toad I've ever known - I leave my yacht, the one I used to play with. To my niece, Winifred, whom I always promised to mention in my will, hello. To my other niece, Marybeth, whom I've always considered the rudest little tart in my hemisphere, I leave the contents of my safe-deposit box, the pass key to which is hidden under a stone, somewhere in Canada. And finally to my dear wife I leave the remainder of my estate, on condition that within six months of this reading, she woos and eventually marries the Ayatollah.
