I think the explanations at 1:05 and at 2:35 are completely reversed. In that drawing that sphere is more compressed horizontally, so the meridian that would have more curvature and more focusing power would be in fact the horizontal one, while the vertical meridian would be flatter and therefore with less focusing power. As a result, point A at 2:30 (the vertical focusing point) should be behind B (the horizontal focusing point,) not the other way around.
