Wow mate 😯 ... you fly at the limits of bitrate 📡and voltage 😱. Luckily, rescue worked perfect again. I've tested rescue so often with my 7'' bird and my experience is that it works perfect in 9 from 10 cases. I hope your rescue operations will always stay in this 90%-range. I totally remember your video, watched it a couple times all the way through! It actually gave me some confidence in the GPS Rescue function. I've been wondering, why wouldn't GPS Rescue work right? What's up with that unreliability?

And when you are short with battery or you are close to a ridge it can fall out of the sky before you can regain control. I know two experienced pilots who have lost their quad + Gopro on long range and they were not very amused 😵💫😉
Did you have a sufficient number of connected satellites in that one failed takeoff attempt? As for hitting the ridge (or any obstacle), as far as I understand, in GPS Rescue altitude mode, you should set it to the maximum altitude.
@@Wild__FPV yes, I always check the number of satellites before liftoff. My minimum number is 6 satellites, it‘s set on „max. altitude“ and on „only failsafe“. My Chim 7 always climbed to max. altitude plus 40 meters - but when it flies in the wrong direction it can hit a mountain if you already didn’t reach the the summit before activation of rescue. Maybe the problem lies in the old gps chip. My newest (analog!) Chimera 7 Pro V2 has the M10 gps chip - at the same location where my old Chim 7 locks only 7..8 satellites this gps locks more than 20 in a quarter of the time. I think this one will be much more reliable in case of rescue. Tests must be done from my side, at the moment I fight with the receiver of my analog goggles (range problems) 😂😉

Yeah, even though the battery was fully charged before the flight, this is a good example of how cold weather messes with batteries... plus, it took about 15 minutes to lock onto the satellites. It was around 23°F at the takeoff spot, so I’m guessing it was closer to 5°F at the top of the mountain (not to mention the strong wind on top of that).

You're spot on about the stock antennas being pretty terrible. I've since snagged some TrueRC X-Air patch antennas (an upgrade for my Integra) and they're doing alright compared to the stock ones. At around the same distance (4.5 km), my video link is hitting about 20 mbps. But honestly, it's still not cutting it for me, so I'm gearing up to switch over to those 3-turn helical antennas real soon.

How could you make the antenna test a few videos ago, I thought antennas could only be swapped with the Goggles 2, but not with the Integra. Question two: Do the antennas on your quad fit to these of the goggles? Older Antennas/System were left-hand circular polarization, integra is linear. If it fit, you gain 1.4 time range/penetration. I'm not sure if you can connect a LHPC antenna to an O3 without losing range, because the o3 send's linear. The TrueRC X-AIR 5.8 MK. II are also LHCP by the way. no idea, if the directional beam can compensate the polarisation in one direction.
Good question. It is possible to install antennas on the Integra (there's a video on TH-cam). The X-Air antennas are LHCP, and the antennas on the quad are also LHCP, which means that with the stock antennas (which are linear) on the Integra, I was actually losing about 3 dB. This video was recorded about a month and a half ago, and I installed the new antennas just about 10 days ago. Unfortunately, I only flew with the X-Air once due to a bad battery, and now I'm waiting for a new battery... can't wait for new flights! :) Because from what I managed to see in that one flight with the X-Air, the signal is very strong compared to the stock antennas...
The Chimera7 Pro v2 is made for 7" props, so throwing on 8" ones might not be the best idea. Bigger props put more strain on the motors, which can mess with how it flies-less nimble, more battery drain. Plus, you might run into some clearance issues with the frame. If you're dead set on trying it, I’d check with the FPV community or iFlight to see if anyone’s pulled it off. For that second question, I’m not 100% sure, and I don’t wanna give you bad info. My advice? Hit up a Facebook group and drop the question there. Good luck, dude!

A big flight! It looks cold - the battery was clearly struggling despite having plenty of capacity!
