I'm from NOLA East and I'll lay some truth on you. The problem isn't NOLA East. The problem is the people in NOLA East. There you have it. Fix the people, not the potholes, and you'll see everything come back.
We all know what happened to the East.......The Desire/ Florida Projects closed and became mixed-income....The East started taking Section 8.....then Katrina Happened and BOOM
the lack of business can be attributed to lack of walkable/rideable transit. There's been a proven correlation between bike lanes, walkable streets, transit and increased real estate value. St. Bernard knows this and is investing in bike infrastructure. We need more options than cars. Giant dealerships aren't a sign of a healthy community... even if the dealerships aren't blighted.
The residents of New Orleans East need to emotionally disconnect themselves from Orleans Parish and move elsewhere to other parishes yal are being disrespected out there take yal money and go
Oh absolutely I totally agree with you they have such a blatant disregard for the residents of New Orleans East that's because they want that land and eventually, they'll have an excuse to repurpose the land and do whatever they want with it and not to mention its a way to cut out the black middle-class families they once thrived in that part of the city.
We must stay and fight for our community!! It’s going to take us in the community to help make the east thrive again!! I’m moving back home after being away since Hurricane Katrina!!
This just infuriates me, I can not for the life of me understand why the people of New Orleans just take off the gloves and just have a good old uprising against this hideous system that they always seem to complain about, but on some level is very comfortable with because y'all vote for the same inept political parties every time but wonder why the same thing keeps happening this is the definition of pure insanity.
@@saab23 what I am referring to is the "uprising." Pessimistic about the East....yes, I am . It does not have the appropriate demographics (i.e. economics, demographics, etc). The schools have been less than average for decades. The lack of job opportunities is some of the worse I have seen in the country. I lived through the rapid decline of the East. I was born in the East (@ Methodist Hospital) and lived there until early 90's. So, I lived through it. The East, now, has minimal hope at best. Too many disenfranchised youth, historically poor leadership, no incentives for investment, etc etc.

After Katrina happened that city should have been shut the eff down! But it just went back to business as usual, what does that say about the people who live there? There's no way this should have happened when you consider the blatant disregard for the people of this city and that's an understatement.
