I like your videos mainly because you are honest and if you make a mistake you admit it and you show how to correct it. You are a sweetheart. This from a sawdust maker...
Hey, thanks. Just did this project with a group of high school students in about 35 minutes. They loved it. Now they have a little bit of woodworking experiences and a project they can use everyday.
Nice simple functional build. When using forstner bits I prefer using scrap would underneath my material to minimize tear out. I would personalize mine with a logo using a laser engraver. 👍
Great tip @inspiringbuilds and I will definitely use a piece of scrap next time to minimize tear out. I am messing around with my laser engraver as well to personalize them as gifts!
Thanks for always being honest with your videos and showing happy little accidents. I really like the look of this phone holder🪵. To personalize it, I think I may try to make each piece out of different types of wood for some contrast👍
Happy little accidents...nice call back to Bob Rose:) I like the idea of making the phone stand out of different woods as some contrast would look amazing!
Luv your videos! The cell phone holder size is great! I see it could hold larger or smaller phones too. Thank you so much for sharing. I am new to woodworking and have learned so much from your videos. Your Ontario neighbor 🙂🇨🇦
Making 9 of these this weekend. Hope I can sell them at our local Farmers Market. Made myself 1 several months ago & use it every day at my work place.
@@standishwoodstoryThx! Poplar. Our Lowes has it at 1/2” thick. The one I made several mos ago went together perfectly. I cut the indentation with my table saw. This time I tried my new jig saw. I botched the 1st one so the remaining pieces i will be using my table saw. Cut them too narrow the first cut & when I went back to widen them out it’s too wide & too deep.
Great project! I see you use a Ryobi drill. Have you ever tried a Makita drill? They are sooo smooth and do an awesome job making micro adjustments in the depth of your screw. They aren't the most powerful, but in woodworking I value precision over power.
Hello John, I haven't used Makita. My Ryobi is at least 10 years old and something I bought for around the house fixes and definitely not for my wood shot. I did however, just get a brand new drill press will hopefully make my life easer for many projects!

I have been looking for my next plan/project. Have been struggling with this. I really like this plan. And I like that it’s a small project and something that everyone could use because everyone has a cell phone. What kind of planer do you have? By the color I assume it is a Dewalt?
@@standishwoodstory If i where to modify the dimensions, how will that effect the part that is cut out of each piece? It looks like you cut in approximately 1/2 into each, is that correct? My templates are off when I printed them & I’m thinking there’s something wrong with my printer. Not printing at 100%.

I am just getting back into woodworking. I really appreciate the small/simple projects with all the steps.
No problem @higgiepop and I am still learning a ton myself as I have been addicted to wood working for about a year now. So much to learn!

That is awesome! I love hearing that. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work of teaching students😊

Could you make a video on how to make a small box? A box for someone to keep on their desk or dresser. Thank you
I like that idea as a small box can have so many use cases. I will add this to the list of projects in my queue!
Good build and project thx for sharing enjoyed it Keep building
No problem and I'm glad you liked it 👍
Nice projects and I really like your narration of them. JimE

Such a cool simple project. Thanks for sharing?
Glad you like it!
How would I customize my phone stand? I’d make it bigger so I can watch my favorite videos better when slouching on the couch😂😂😂
Now that is a good idea;) Maybe we even expand the dimensions a little more and drop a TV right on it...almost like a "TV Stand"😂😂😂

@@expatmoosea very merry Christmas to you as well, thanks for your support this year :)
Thanks, I’ve made several of these, but there is an inherent design flaw, they break with the grain at the narrowest part …..
Hi Kathryn, I’ve never experienced that personally, I’m curious what type of wood are you using? And have you tried making one against the grain?

You are correct, it’s the dewalt 735x - it’s a great machine. Let me know how your project turns out :)

Did your bandsaw come with a fence or do you have a link to purchase one?
My bandsaw came with a fence - for this project you could probably just clamp down a straight edge to line it up against.
En fin holder til Iphone. Jeg kunne bruge en til Ipad😋

Isn't it the short piece that gets the extra hole?

I would like a Huge letter engraved on it for my last name or bible verse for when it is not holding my phone
I like that idea a lot @larrystone. That's one of the best things about woodworking as you can make everything unique 👍
